Official Thread The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild (Wii U/Switch)

well playing the game it is a great game but I do have to agree with jim sterling on some points weapon durability really pisses me off and also the shrines do get annoying 4 orbs for one upgrade and the idea of getting one or two shotted by certain enemies.

I would normally agree with you on those points but it really adds to making this game feel like a truly grand adventure. Think of all the things you would have to manage yourself if you were doing this...far more than cooking meals and making weapons. And with over 120 shrines there is plenty opportunity to fully upgrade yourself along the way. Don't you feel like you've actually "earned" the upgrade rather than just having it given to you for playing a certain amount of time?

Also, speaking on weapon durability I believe there are some things you can do further along to increase the length of usage. And 1 shot kills are telling you there must be another way to take down the enemy. I know after I complete the game I look forward to checking out some guides to find all the things that I was unable to discover on my own (and I think there is going to be a lot!)

Besides the shrines I have become enamored in uncovering Korok seeds. I have uncovered some by just jacking around doing silly things. It's like whoever hid them think like I do! Amazing!

I agree with the Weapon "Durability" system. Jim is right it should be the Weapon "Fragility" system. It would be fine if they lasted longer and could be repaired. As it is i'm more likely to avoid fights and warp around, i'm also avoiding using the weapons i like until i get a dupe. I get how some people love it, I simply don't have the time and patience for it. The menu's need some quality of life upgrades. Other than that its fantastic in every other way. I wish the weapon system wasn't bugging me so much.

As much as I love the game, I also feel the weapons break too easy. This title is easily one of the best games I have played to date, up there with skyrim for me and I LOVE skyrim.
Speaking of which I will prob get skyrim on switch as well when I finish Zelda.
Playing skyrim on a handheld when I am away on business in a hotel room sounds amazing!!

Another complaint.... The first labyrinth I just completed had a cool mechanic to complete but was way 2 short and pales in comparison to labyrinths of old.
I hope this trend doesn't continue. :meh:

This is one game where I never for a second thought about what resolution it was running at. The game is so vibrant.

Performance is another thing though. Mostly smooth. But there's definitely stutter here and there.

Switch or Wii U version?

HOT DAMN!!! I just lucked into a copy of the Master Edition of Zelda BotW! Here's hoping the order goes through and I'll have it by this time next week. I already got cancelled on the Special Edition (thanks Walmart :txbmad: ) but that may be a blessing in disguise if this version comes through for me. I'll post if I get it.

As fun as this game is, I'm more impressed that with the scope of this game, the game is bug free and complete. IMO, any other developer would have had a day 1 patch to polish stuff that shouldn't have gotten pass QA.

I finished the game yesterday. Got all the memories, recruited all the divine beasts, beat the final boss and as an added bonus
Found and pulled the Master Sword
. But I still think I'm going to go back and do some side quests. The world has so many little secrets in it that it feels like it invites to to continue exploring.

Damn! Well done. I am like 30-35 hours in and haven't even conquered a Divine Beast!

I spent to bulk of my time trying to find arrows and better gear. The divine beasts are really easy especially after you get certain powers/gear. Finding/solving enough gotdamn shrines for hearts and stamina was the real challenge.

A little over 45 hours in now. Really enjoying this.

Kinda want to get it for the Wii U but really just want to play it on the Switch whenever i get one. I don't know what to do.

55 hours here. The game is nearly perfect. My only complaints are that it rains too much sometimes and the frame rate drops while docked. That's it. It's a 10/10 game. Not perfect but masterclass.

Nintendo is so good at putting neat little touches all over the world. You could be traveling to an objective and see some ruins off to the side along the way. Those ruins turn out to be some environmental puzzle that you have absolutely no clue as to how it functions. So come back to it later?

Or divert path and 2 days later you've forgotten what the hell you set out for initially and are 5 miles north.

Have to suspend my play time now as school is finishing up. As of now, I have 76 shrines, 2 Divine Beasts and about half the memories. I am over 65 hours played. I suspect I'll hit 100 hours once I get back into it. It's been great. It's all I want to play.
