The Nintendo Switch live stream topic

I believe DQ X and XI are coming. I think that Spin-off series DQ Heroes is coming too.
They better be slated for a US release as well. If so, forget Zelda I'll buy a switch just for X and XI. Heroes I'm not as excited about, but could still be cool.

The more I think about it the Ni tendo Switch is not bad in price when you look at all the functions it can do.

The only cons are
-lack of software at launch
-online fee
-Maybe the battery life span

No region locking now so if you know Japanese have at it.

Question: Do we know for sure that Zelda and Mario will release on the Wii U? If so, I'll just pick up a refurb and skip the Switch altogether.

I thought there were rumors of no Zelda for the Wii U...?

Zelda yes mario no

That is super crap. They have made a lot of money re-releasing these games to people who've bought them over and over, and the only bone they can throw for their Online service is temporary access to old-as-s*** games? Really? When MS and Sony are offering 2 old and 2 new games to keep as long as you have a sub?

depends on how much the service is and what else it offers.

$20-30 a year isn't bad

You know it will be at least $50 and it won't offer s***. I wouldn't even want a free service that uses an smart device app for everything.

I'd say two bucks a month would make sense. It's not like they'd be dealing with the same level of stuff the other two do. I suspect it will be more like five though, and if they want to charge what the others do, then they need to have a comparable service.

I thought it was terrible. The prices for virtually everything are egregious. Breath of the Wild looks amazing but we knew that. There's literally no reason to buy a Switch at launch unless Zelda is unplayable on the Wii U, which I doubt that's the case - given Nintendo's persistence to have stable presentation.

Nintendo charging for an online service is totally unearned too. Plus, their variation of offering free games to online subscribers is a total misstep. I think they're going to see a huge drop in the install base for Splatoon 2 now.

I don't know. I thought this was just a huge step in the wrong direction. The console should have been $250 or at least bundled with a game - probably 1, 2 Switch. Nintendo has been really sticking it to their hardcore fans lately and this doesn't seem any different to me. This was a letdown.

$7.99. Sig it.

Reports are coming in that the included Joy Con controller with grip... the grip isn't a rechargeable one like the one sold separately for $30 US.

(It's confusing what the difference is between both grips)

Yeah, the more I think about it, I'm passing on the Switch for the near future. Maybe when the software catches up it might be worthwhile but with Zelda hitting the Wii U at the same time I don't see a reason to pick up new hardware. I want Xenoblade 2 but it looks like a downgrade from Xenoblade Chronicles X and what they were able to do on the Wii U.
Unless someone desperately needs to play Zelda, or really needs a system on the go and doesn't want a 3DS or play on a tablet PC, I don't see one thing about the system that is compelling enough to buy it.

- The price isn't anything great
- The accessories are the highest priced controllers in history (with exception of maybe a Neo Geo arcade stick.... those might have been $100-200... not sure)
- The system seems to have a power level that is somewhere between last gen and current get..... Wii U-ish power by the sounds of it
- Online doesn't seem anything special, and it will also have fees down the line. Also, there's some confusion that MP may require some kind of smartphone app
- Bad battery life
- FIFA is based off the 360/PS3 version? Who knows. If true, it'll be another set of gimped ports or Madden All Stars

Best thing to do is wait it out. Aside from Zelda, other key games come out later in the year anyway. So by that time you can see how good the games are, the MP and third party support is. If it all works out, then maybe get it and subscribe to MP online. The system is supposed to be focused on MP fun, so an online subscription is needed unless you strictly want to do SP or local MP split screen. if you want to do local MP, then you got to fork out $$$ for another controller.

Just look back at Wii U. It actually had a decent launch with a decent set of launch games (lots of similar AAA games like 360/PS3), but after that it was downhill 6 months later.

Nintendo Switch is actually in a worse state of games. Aside from Zelda, they currently have no other notable games. Wii U actually had EA Sports, Zombie U, Mass Effect, CoD, Batman, Skylanders etc.... and the system still didn't get traction.
