Yeah that is a continuing trend. You know what people will say if they don't have a big slate of announcements in 2018? "Just wait til next year"
Go Nintendo
Here is Nightengale's list, updated with 2017 E3 info. This is mostly a list of newly announced first party exclusives (see below for more specific criteria).
My take:
Another weak year for MS. I was surprised that despite the announcer constantly intoning "Exclusive!" there were not more titles listed here. I asked Nightengale about that, and he said his list only tracks first-party exclusives, lifetime indie exclusives, and timed AAA exclusives/strategic 3rd-party games that have exclusivity announced. The majority of the games announced at the MS conference didn't fall into those categories.
Sony had an unusually weak year. Way down over the last 3 years, and almost all of the titles listed here are small projects or VR. There are a few other conferences later this year where Sony will present, so it's likely we will see some additions to the list (which includes not just E3 but all announcements throughout the year).
Nintendo knocked it out of the park. The winner by a mile. Not even close. They're off to a great start.
My only issue with Ninty is that they usually start off strong, then peter out with anemic 3rd party support. It's getting a lot of attention right now, but so did the Wii. Hopefully they will keep it up. I suspect that if they can keep integrating the handheld developers into Switch, then content shouldn't be a problem. No doubt. I'm just wondering whether they blew their load this year, in terms of new announcements -- similar to what Sony did over the past few years -- and so, we'll see a much-reduced announcement slate next year.
I know Nintendo wanted to show everyone that the Switch would have lots of games coming to it. That was one of the main criticisms of the Wii U -- that you waited forever between games -- and it was one of the main concerns people voiced, when it came to the Switch.
They've definitely succeeded in reassuring people that the games are coming. They loaded people's plates. But you can't keep that pace up for long. I'm figuring there will be a pretty significant drop off in new announcements next year.

That is a problem but I don't buy that its a problem for you given that you own other consoles
The Nintendo only types of gamers are the worse in gaming.Certainly not for me, lol. Still, if we want Nintendo to be/stay healthy, they need that support, imo. My wife and I still talk about picking up a Switch. I would not ever buy a game available for one of the other systems on the Switch, but those 1st party games...
I do know a guy that ONLY plays on Nintendo platforms, and I was always sad that he missed out on so many great third party games.
Sony didn't show nothing new zzzzzz
Exactly and it reminds me of some of my PS fans who NEVER owned a XB,preferred not trying it when PS2 had a far inferior online setup and games than the OG XB as did the 360 (in many cases) I just don't see how some can miss out on classics like Halo CE and consider themselves gamers.Nintendo fans are goofy as hell, but a lot of them have a child-like enthusiasm for the games that seems lacking in the MS/Sony crowd. I'll give them that.
Although it does seem weird to me, to confine yourself just to Nintendo games, when there are so many good Sony, MS, and third-party games out there.
I forget Nintendo a had Switch reveal. I mistakenly thought the games were shown at E3 2016 or maybe Nintendo Direct. But I see where that list is causing confusion with me. Who ever it is included games announced previously at Nintendo's Switch reveal. If we judge Nintendo's E3 based in what we've seen already Sony and Nintendo are close to even.
New Spiderman gameplay looked more impressive than anything from Nintendo by far plus Sony has more games in general. No Dragon Ball Z is a huge L for Nintendo Switch.
Pokemon and Metroid may look pretty on a list but they didn't show much of anything. What do we have left? Yoshi and Mario Raving Rabbits? That's not more impressive than Sony conference. Everything else we knew about except those remasters.
Sony does win overall library, but E3 is about generating excitement/hype, and Sony fell kind of short there, this year. I liked most of what I saw, but there wasn't anything really surprising. I'm a Sony fan, and I was kind of disappointed. When you consider the overall library without any made up rules or boundaries Sony easily won E3 without trying.

False.
1.Yeah, he's not just counting E3. He's counting all multiplats throughout the year. So games revealed earlier this year for Switch would be on the list, even though they weren't new for E3.
2.Mario seems to be taking most of the Game of the Show awards, at least the ones I've seen.

Nintendo easily won E3 this year with Metroid Prime's 4 Title screen easily being the most exciting thing to come out of E3.
1. Double standards. Conveniently it works in favor of Nintendo.
2. Mario looked fun and solid but it's no where close to some other games E3. Nintendo is like the kid of video games. They get free passes and a tone of praise while everyone else is torn to pieces and held at high standards.
3. I think Sony won E3 and here's why they had a strong foundation rather it be multiplat or exclusive. I don't miss out on games like Beyond Good & Evil 2 plus I enjoy major new IP's like Spider-Man.
To sum it all up MS is lacking major new IP's while Nintendo struggling to get multiplats. You can't overlook these issue and say Nintendo/MS won E3 because Sony has that covered.
When I look back at E3 no game blew me away like Spider-Man or Anthem. Metroid had me hype until I realize it had no gameplay or CGI, to me that's not exciting. Titles that really got me excited are are Beyond Good & Evil 2, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, Anthem, Evil Within 2, Monster Hunter, Wolfenstein 2, Until Dawn Prequel, A Way Out and some other titles not on Switch.
As a Playstation fan I had plenty of games to be excited about. On top of that we got release windows for God of War, Spider-Man, Detroit Become Human (possibly) and some other titles. Sony won E3 hands down.
False
LMAO I'm sorry but this just stupid. Stop babying Nintendo..

Metroid would be far more interesting if it was more than a logo, honestly. I have the same reaction about that as I did about Beyond Good and Evil 2 (until they actually showed a very cool early demo with some impressive tech). If you show me a logo (or even a CG trailer) I'm going to assume it's far too far away to be a meaningful announcement.I dunno, I think Metroid's at least as promising a new IP as Spider-Man, and this Mario fellow I'm just now hearing about might be the best new IP launch since Halo 3.

If you want to announce that you are starting development, fine, but E3 should be for substance, imo.
new IPs like Spiderman
1. Double standards? How so? Nightengale is tracking new game announcements per year, not per E3. That's what the chart is designed to show. Works the same for Sony and MS -- if they announce games outside E3, they go on the chart.
2. Nintendo gets free passes and tons of praise, while everyone else is torn to shreds? Have you been in suspended animation for the past 5 years?
Part of why Nintendo is getting the praise now is that they're finally turning it around.
3. I agree Sony and MS are in better positions with multiplatform titles than Nintendo. That's not really arguable. It's been a longstanding problem for Nintendo. I don't think most people weigh multiplatform issues very heavily, though, when they judge who "won" E3. I guess you do, and that's fine.
Ok. I'm a Sony pony, and I don't think so. And I heard a lot of negative reactions at GAF, which is heavily Sony. But I respect your opinion.

Wonders what the most polls are saying about which company and what game won E3...
Metroid alone was better than anything to come out of the Sony conference which was basically a repeat of last years. At least MS showed hardware. What did Sony show that was new? Oh that's right a SOC remake.
Nothing about Nintendo has changed.
The multiplat issues are Nintendo's fault. No point in trying to defend it or make excuses. You better believe if games like Battlefront were console exclusive the internet would have complete meltdown. Essentially you saying "Multiplats don't count" wich never a good argument in these debates. All games count rather it be multiplat or exclusive.
Fact is when I judge all 3 consoles EQUALLY there's no way Nintendo won E3.
