The Official E3 2017 Thread

Left 4 Dead 3

Metroid Switch but won't release in 17.

Edits coming...

Ive always wanted to play Left 4 Dead, but none of my mates are gamers (excluding the silly Wii drinking games etc) and I honestly have no idea how Valve is structured in regards to games.

In my mind all they do is make Steam, and then make Steam make bank.

I thought Evolve was in-house for ages. I'm pretty sure Half-Life 3 can't happen, because they've themselves caused a deification of the Half-life franchise.

And I've no idea what the go is with the Metroid games either. The last one I played was Prime, and I loved it. I have no idea what's happened to Samus since then, but I'd love to see something!

And if I were to throw out a guess, I'm expecting some horror games to take the main stage after the success of Resident Evil.

I think you're overestimating the critical love for Goat Simulator.
Combining the quoted post and yours, a few years ago I went to a film festival suprise viewing of a movie called Donkey Love. It was an eye opener, to which IMDB describe as "An award-winning documentary that introduces the unknown tradition of Colombians having sex and falling in love with donkeys."

You really must see it. It would be right up your alley.

This thread is a bit early but what the heck.Sony's list of exclusives they could show is crazy:

Already announced:

God of War
Days Gone
The Last Of Us Part 2
Dreams
Spiderman
Knack 2
Matterfall
Death Stranding
GT Sport
UC The Lost Legacy
Detroit Becoming Human
WILD

Stuff they could show:

Sucker Punch's new I.P
Japan Studio's new I.P
A new Sony London game
Pixel Opus's new project
Sony Manchester's new project
DLC for Horizon
New exclusive from FROM Software
2nd party exclusives? No idea but after Spiderman,Bloodborne and Death Stranding anything could happen.

I do think their announcements will be weaker this year as in the past few years you have had Naughty Dog,Guerrilla, Insomniac,Santa Monica, Media Molecule and Bend announce new projects and most of those are top developers and Sony's best studios.

And I highly doubt you will see another exclusive From Software title this year.

Yeah, I imagine many of these projects will be shown for the next couple E3's if the precedent applies. I'd love to see Days gone get a street date, but "Death Stranding" and "The Last of Us 2" have barely been started. I'd put at least two more years on those.

I'd also love to see more on "Dreams". My guess is they delayed it so they could have VR integration. Seems perfect for it. I need more "Dad of War" as well ;)

E3 will be Epic this year. I can feeeel it!

Xbox should show:

Cuphead
Crackdown 3
Below
Ashen
Forza Motorsport 7
Sea of Thieves
Gigantic
State of Decay 2
Tacoma
Scorpio
VR titles for Scorpio, all shared with Windows 10 PC

Maybe debut?:

New IP from Remedy
Halo 6 teaser for 2018
New IP from Playground Games
New Battlefield for 2018 debut and timed exclusive or exclusive content
Rise of the Tomb Raider 2 debut or timed exclusive
Exclusive PC games making their way to Xbox One exclusively using UWP. (WOW, Star Citizen, etc)
Steam support or Steam app
New IP that appease the Japanese crowd
Midtown Madness Return (one can hope, right?)
Crimson Sky VR

Probably before anything on Xbox releases at least. So that's something.

I still think the big 'surprise' for Sony this E3 will be announcing that GOW 3 will be releasing this holiday. There are already ads up in Spain, just no solid release date yet.

I'm happy MS moved to Sunday:

God of War 3 was released in 2010 :p I think it will be ready for fall but pushed to March 2018 which is the usual month of release for the franchise.

Funny how people make stuff up. I can do that too:

At this point it's do or die for Sony. They need to have a showing that no one is expecting. Microosft has already announced so many games they could literally show 1 or 2 bangers and win E3.

People that think Microsoft ran out of ammo will be sadly mistaken. Spencer has already mention they have Big new IP's ready for E3 2017 (adding to the onslaught of games already announced.).

Are you honestly trying to argue that Sony and Microsoft are announcing an equal amount of games when Sony had 2 major events in one year? LOL Is that "made up" too?

GT Sport, Knack 2, Detroit and UC The Lost Legacy will be this year.

Don't forget Nex Machina and Everybody's Golf.

Looks like 2016 lists

Not realky. 7 of those are new title we haven't seen yet.

E3 will be interesting. I think NEW announcements will be a bit sparse, as they have decided to show a lot that is still relatively early in development. That said, presentations on what they have announced can easily fill a conference with awesome. I don't think they need to announce anything new.

They've got a couple of years on the docket already, and I kinda like the approach of showing the cards so we can anticipate demonstrations. The downside, of course, is that they lose some of the surprise and "wow" factor of a reveal as well as the fatigue of waiting years for release.

I feel like if Sony didn't have anything major to announce they would have saved TLOU 2 for E3

Really hope MS don't keep cutting to the crowd during trailers like last year.

Nier Automata 2 please.
This is good to hear. Still playing through Horizon though. Think I'm at about 25 hours so far. Haven't checked my % complete recently but I was about 25% complete with 20 hours in. Going to be a long game....

If I don't hear something about a PS4 version of Hot Shots golf then I'm going to wrap a 5 iron around the head of some Sony exec.

OK, I'm no expert video game presenter or event organizer, but with all the big companies getting around 90 minutes to showcase their games, can someone tell me why they use the time to:

- Fill it with comedy bits
- Fill it with suits
- Sometimes have a music act
- Announce games that have nothing to show for except CGI trailers or dev staff interviews describing the game
- Obviously hire actors or gamers who overact playing a game (such as those idiots pretending to act like a team in RS: Siege when nobody talks like that in real MP)

Call me crazy, but wouldn't game presentations be better if everyone just followed Bethesda and just showed gameplay clips like the Doom demo?

When ever a car company shows their new model, or you go to an auto show to see what all the latest cars are..... the car makers do something radical..... they show the car. You see it with your own eyes. And if it's a car show, you can actually sit in it.

People say that every year at every Sony confrence... Also disagree with you on release dates. Lets break it down.

God of War - 2018 (Anyone who follows GOW knows it's coming next year.)
Dreams - 2018 (I follow Dreams at twitter 100% sure it's coming next year )
Detroit- 2017 or 2018
GT Sport - 2017
Shenmue 3 - Dec. 2017 (Confirmed)
Knack 2 - 2017
Everbody's Golf -Summer 2017
Spideman - ( Will be in development a good 3 years by late 2018 )
Days Gone - (in development since 2013)

Outside a few titles the majority of games are pretty close to release.

On top of their own Projects Sony recently started the" China Hero Project" specifically to help with Chinese game development. This could be huge not only for Sony but the gaming industry aswell as they will tapp into a new market.

Lastly Sony tradmarked 2 New IP's this year. At this point it crazy to think they wouldn't show anuything new.

Shenmue 3 is another multiplatform game. As for 2017 we will get GT Sport.

I hoping for more of a trend of publishers waiting for games to be within 24 months of release before showing anything about them. I get that people want to be excited about the future but it's rare that games look and feel like you'd expect when they are in development so long. It ends up being unintentional false advertising. Have a teaser one year so there's anticipation of gameplay and then a playable game the following E3. That should be the extent of it.

Not really. Most games are slightly downgraded if at all. Only a few companys like Ubisoft hugely downgrade titles.

Completely disagree if you are talking about historically but I won't write a novel on all the examples. This gen, we're getting more vague videos of games that the masses get hyped about without knowing a damned thing about the gameplay. Right now Death Stranding is at the top of most PlayStation wish lists while we don't even have a single screenshot or idea about the gameplay. FFVII announcement created insane buzz two years ago without any idea of what type of remake it would be. MS did the same crap with Scalebound and Crackdown but stopped it last year. I think any more than 2 years of hype is too much...and two years is pushing it.

If ShenMue 3 comes out this year, I'll eat my hat.

Days Gone being in development since '13 doesn't mean much. I still don't expect it this year.

I can't wait to see more on Dreams...

Bahaha! I just had a vision of them having a bunch of "real gamers" on stage. The 14 year old calling everyone noob dick heads, the overweight diabetic with 5 chins and a IV drip of mountain dew, and a chick too scared to plug her microphone in. And some frat dude that keeps getting shot when he tries to teabag a corpse.

I have enough games to last me until 2020 so GT Sport and the possibility of Days Gone is enough for me at the end of the year.
