The Official E3 2017 Thread

This really should be an amazing E3 for multiplats alone. Ironically Xbox gamers will have to watch Sonys show to see what they'll be playing this Fall. Damn all those marketing deals.

Well that is nothing new. Works out for the best because I'd rather not have to sit through COD demos in both shows.

I'm still not convinced that a marketing deal necessarily means the other platform holder can't show off their version.

MS wouldn't have shown their footage in the past because it wouldn't look as good, and it's usually the version for the market leader that is sent out for review. We will see. I can't imagine we won't see a scorpio version of BFII

We aren't going to see a game running of multiple platforms at E3. Its ultimately up to the third parties to decide how they want to show their games so its not like MS is going to show up and show off Destiny footage without the ok to do so.

I don't expect destiny, but I do expect Battlefront and Shadow of War. Otherwise, I agree. My only point was that Exclusive marketing rights doesn't necessarily mean the other version can't be shown. It all comes down to the specifics of each deal.

Exactly, never understood what the big deal was about them showing games 1-2 years in advance. If you buy a console, chances are you'd want to know what the future holds. Maybe i'm way off base, i don't know. I mean, if the game is very early in development maybe it's better to hold off and wait. I get that part of it. Let's pump the brakes though.

Like for example Scalebound or even Death Stranding. Kojima is doing DS though, and people trust him to get the game out and that it will be quality. People buy consoles knowing the games they really want are years off but they know they're coming. It's called investing in an ecosystem. If you know PS4 has more games and that's your focus, you're probably more likely to choose PS4. If you like multiplayer titles and media features then maybe Xbox One is your choice and you don't care what's coming in the future.
Showing games 1-2 years ahead isn't too bad. I understand showing what's in the pipeline, but to me showing gamers what's coming out in the next 12 months is better.

On the extreme end, MS and Sony showing stuff off 4-5 years down the line is absurd.... KZ 2, GT5, Alan Wake, Scalebound was shown I think 3 years ago and cancelled, etc.... That's really grabbing for straws.

That Cyberpunk 2077 teaser was shown in 2013, and according to Wiki, the estimated release date might be 2019. At that time, the next PS will probably be releasing and a Scorpio 2 might be a year away if MS/Sony keep doing their 3-4 year mid-gen upgrades.

It's all over at E3. Microsoft is going to steal the show and shut all the haters down. Scorpio will lay waste to the competition. Feel the venom baby!

I'm expecting them to vome out and say that the Shadow of war footage we've neen seeing has been on Scorpio dev kits. IGN as a cool ign first vid on it. Could be PC, I guess...

I almost posted this exactly. 1-2 years is fine. We've been getting stuff that is sometimes 5 years off that we won't see until the next console. That's rediculous. Especially considering the shorter generations. I'm hoping to see a trend of games coming sooner during these shows. Problem with that is it's going to create 1-2 years of poor showings to make the transition in philosophy.

Sometimes games are shown that aren't supposed to be so far off. I don't think anyone expected Scalebound to get delayed and eventually cancelled.

Man.
BELOW and Ashen. I want those now!

We'll see new, IP's. Ones that will be ongoing. And, there will be a few surprises. I'm almost positive we haven't seen the last of Recore as it's an Xbox Zelda of sorts. I got a feeling we may see Ryse 2. That's just me.. But there will be new IP's. Count on that.

Calling it now. Ryse 2, Fable reboot, and Banjo will be the megatons.

Don't let me down Microsoft.

I would be excited for those. Still need a new Perfect Dark as well though. Kameo icing on the cake.

It doesn't have Zelda's polish, but it is definitely a neat game. It's hurt by the lower res and barely passable animations though. Hopefully Scorps will give us a much needed IQ boost.

Everything I saw about the gameplay tells me Recore is something I'd have fun with. Those animations would be bad looking on the PS2. No idea or understanding of why MS rushes these games to hit fall when 6 more months of polish and a less competitive release window would give their new IPs a chance.

Even without the Polish the platforming must be experienced. It's a super fun game and definitely felt like a Zelda. As Frozpot said, it doesn't quite have a Zelda quality yet, but it's definitely one of the most fun I've had with a game this gen. Again, I'm almost sure we'll see another.. The opportunity begs for it.

I do most of my gaming without getting the Polish involved.

They're always suspicious of my Craigslist ads for some reason...

I would love to get hyped as hell for Microsoft's show but the thing is Phil has said during a IGN podcast that we should expect any surprise announcements for this year, so this time nothing like a DR4 like last year. But that doesn't mean they won't have any big announcements for games releasing next year.

Even if Shinobi602 did say that from what he heard from his sources there really wasn't a lot of new stuff next to Crackdown, State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves. But at the same time I find that incredibly hard to believe. Xbox fans are not gonna like it at all if they won't have anything new for 2018 to announce. I believe it's entirely possible MS is keeping things close to the chest and not let stuff leak, like the surprise announcement of Backwards Compatibility.

At the same time we have to realize it was Phil himself that said they don't want to announce games too early anymore until they can show something substantial. But there have to be surprises, it's just simple as that.

I'd find it hard to believe they wouldn't have a number of new announcements. No way they don't because it would be pretty much the worst show ever.

Very true man. And people would continue their "Scorpio is nice but where are the games" if they only have the already announced games and not much else. I definitely expect the new game from Moon Studios there, but the question is with the few studios they have, what could they be announcing? Coalition is on Gears, 343 on Halo, Turn10 on Forza. Maybe they have a third party exclusive to announce.

Or perhaps they announce that they have established new studios in the previous years and announce those games. I doubt this though if we look at what Phil said about being committed to first party. He said they are going to be just as committed to it as they have with Xbox in general. That makes it sound like it hasn't happened yet.

We need some more Shinobi and ntkrnl leaks like 2014.

Shinobi's leaks have thinned out and that ntkrnl disappeared completely.

Of the top of my head, these two guys are the only two insiders I believe.

Shinobi602 was good peoples when he was still there. Gaf made sure to get him away from there with their nonsense. They just couldn't handle the fact that he truly enjoyed Mass Effect Andromeda, lol. Sad really.

I remember also another poster who always used to post leaks in a very weird and annoying way. The way he used the letters and you had to decipher that. Really stupid honestly.

To be honest I hope if MS has some cool stuff in store that nothing leaks. Leaks can be fun but they can ruin the whole show for me too. I'd rather be completely surprised by some cool announcements. Guess I should start staying away from GAF until after E3. Of course it's possible that nothing leaks and that it will be like the BC announcement. Nobody saw that coming.

You're incorrect. Phil said it was entirely possible he could announce a AAA game due to release this year, Forza 7 hasn't been announced yet and should be racer of the year. Minecraft 2 as well is a possibility (though id put that down for next year).

Shinobi hasn't really leaked anything for Xbox in Years the last information he gave relating to XB1 was QB's delay.

Insiders have been s*** TBH.

Scorpio devkits were out for months and not a peep on the specs aside from what we knew last E3
Dead Rising 4 came out of nowhere
Halo Wars 2 came out of nowhere
Gigantic? Ori and the blind forest? Not telegraphed at all
Recore...remember when it was a 2019 title because all there was was a CGI trailer
Killer Instinct revival by Double Helix, who predicted that?
Exclusive from Crytek? No one saw that coming in 2011
Back Compat came out of nowhere.
Sunset Overdrive...the trademark to insomniac leaked, no one knew what it was or who was publishing
Quantum Break ...people suspected Alan Wake 2
Mass Effect, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey out of nowhere

Aside from the quad fecta HaloforzagearsCraft, every things tabula rasa.

Hands up who guessed Hotwheels DLC for Horizon 3?

And of course Team Dakota and Turn 10 didnt exist until they announced their games and 343i didn't exist for until 2010, people thought Gearbox was going to take over.
