Might reinstall this because Blackouts freezing is annoying the s*** out of me.

I'd put COD MW as the game that made games "mainstream". Then Overwatch and Destiny, though games like MineCraft and StarCraft had much larger audiences, they didn't have mainstream attention.

Mario on nes made games mainstream.
Ask 100 people on the street if they know fortnite, then ask about Mario. Maybe 10% will know fortnite (the ones under 6yo), 95% know Mario.

Lol fortnite, it's like fidget spinners, for kids with adhd.

Mario, Call of Duty, and GTA absolutely helped make gaming mainstream in their own way. Overwatch and Destiny I'm a bit more skeptical of.

None of them had nearly the combination of popularity + cultural penetration as Fortnite. Epic Games lifted the entire medium like no other before it.

Fortnite now created video games according to mainstream people.

You’re so full of s***. I know people that don’t play games that know characters and games series going back for decades.

This post confuses me.

Of course other games had mainsteam cultural impact. It's not surprising that you know some non gamers who knew about certain games.

What I'm saying is that in terms of level of cultural impact, Fortnite has no peers.

How old are you?

Troll, fanboy type posting has no age limit in this day and age. So he could be 60.

The Fortnite crowd IS the Overwatch crowd + COD and Destiny. It's the next thing. That game was huge and everywhere, and I had the same reaction to it as I do to FN.

He's a child, we're all trying to rationalize with a child. lol.

Hitting that ignore button and moving on.

That's a weird comparison considering those are all different things than a game... revenue per user, lol. They are comparing fractions of pennies for advertising vs microtransations for a game were kids buys friggin dance emoticons and skins, for-crying-out-loud.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess...

So if revenue per user is the thing, GOTY has to be AutoCAD 2019.

I hopped back into this the other day, there is no denying it's a ton of fun and the amount of content Epic adds is ridiculous.

The Epic supported Fortnite subreddit (1 million subscribers) just had their "_______ of the year" results come in.

Here's the Fortnite Play of the Year for 2018...

Yup.

When did they update the graphics in this game? It looks super crisp on my One X and the colors really pop.
