Zangief is the latest addition to the ever expanding Street Fighter 5 roster. As if we thought he wasn’t going to be added? He looks simply glorious in the below screenshots. The massive Russian looks to be as devastating as ever. His stage pays homage to his stages of the past with chains, fences and of course, a bear.

Zangief’s signature moves are back with some slight variations them like his signature Cyclone Lariat can now be done as a V-Trigger and is angled for maximum damage! He looks to be about the same speed in the past and fans will have no problem using him as they are accustomed to.

Zangief lives up to his name “the red cyclone” as he spins with high speed and velocity, pulling the opponent in close. If the player taps the V-Trigger activation buttons, Zangief will quickly spin and pull in the opponent. If the player holds the V-Trigger activation buttons, Zangief will continue to spin and hit the opponent multiple times.

The big Russian Bear also comes equipped with a V-Skill aptly named the Iron Muscle.

Zangief shows the true power of his body when he activates Iron Muscle. During Iron Muscle, Zangief can absorb one attack, which leaves him with recoverable health. If players hold down medium punch and medium kick and then press a direction on the joystick, Zangief will begin to slowly close in on the opponent. Upon release from the walk, Zangief flexes his muscles and hits the opponent if close enough.

He either suffer a bad case of sunburn, or had too much Volka.

On serious note, I do not think it was ever a doubt. All classic SF2 character will be back for sure.
