Inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, The Sinking City depicts an era in which ethnic, racial, and other minorities were frequently mistreated by society. These prejudices were and still are wrong, but have been included for an authentic depiction of that time, rather than pretend they never existed.

I find it kind of sad that this needs to be explained. Just because you're depicting something doesn't mean you're in favor of it. That's a ridiculously naive way to look at any type of fictional or artistic creation.
 
I remember it being done with mafia 3 as well. People still complained about the racist bits

It's idiotic. Have these people never read a novel or seen a movie?

I just finished reading Washington Black, which is a novel about a slave boy who is befriended by a troubled white man. The book is filled with racism. It never once occurred to me that the author was promoting racism. That would've seemed absurd to me.

And of course it is absurd. It's because they know that outrage mobs have made a sport out of destroying businesses and art using bad PR. They want to avoid any possibility of that happening. It's sort of like the ridiculous product warning labels you see sometimes, where you shake your head and go, "Who the hell would do that?" Just CYA stuff from the legal dept.

So anyone picking this up? Or picked it up? It looks good, but I assumed it was an indie game. I see it's $60.00.
 
Got a Amazon gift card for my birthday the other week so this only cost me £6

It's ok so far. Little rough but I'm digging it

Games growing on me.

Rough around the edges(fallout 4 style) but I'm liking the Story, characters and setting.
Game does no hand holding.

Worth a look for anyone interested and different to most games that get released. You can tell the devs really love the source material.

Negative would be that you do a lot of back and forth. No mission big or small outside the opening takes place in one area
 
Almost bought this a couple times on Xbox. Glad I didn’t I’d be pissed!
