"I'm Sorry Nintendo, I Was Wrong about the Switch"

"The feeling isn't all that hard to articulate, actually. It's the feeling that the Nintendo Switch is great."

"There aren't a lot of games on the Switch yet .... But what games there are on the Switch, I want to play. And the few games that Nintendo has come out with so far are worth the price of admission alone."

I admit it, I laughed my ass off last june when Nintendo initially revealed the Switch. And I still believe that without Zelda they wouldn't have sold half as many systems in the first 3 months.
But underpowered and all, its still a pretty great system.

Not that under powered though as Arms for example looks better than many games on another console.
I call it the nVidia factor.

Underpowered when used on a big screen TV. The jaggies really stand out on some games But when used as a handheld everything looks great.

But art direction >technology imo.

Shawn Layden, Sony:

"Layden calls the Switch "a great success for Nintendo" and admits that "it's definitely what that fanbase has been waiting for." But he sees the system as less a rival than a complementary traveler, claiming that Switch sales have had no discernible impact on the sell-through for PlayStation 4. "When you look at our numbers, I think it shows that a lot of gamers are a two-console family," he adds. "And quite often those two consoles are PlayStation and Nintendo sitting side-by-side."

It does sound like the best combo. If I were to add a console (although I'm full up with my PS4), I'd be more likely to get a Switch than a Scorpio.

No impact on PS4 sales? Its been outselling it every month since it launched.
I always said the big 2 were Sony and Nintendo and that's not opinion.

What he is saying is that, if Switch were impacting their sales, they would have seen a dip in sales when the Switch was released, but instead, sales have been trucking along steady, even rising. So, no discernable impact. I suppose it's possible that PS4 sales would've risen even more, had the Switch not been there. There's probably some loss to Sony and MS. But Layden is basically saying it's not hurting them in any significant way. Which is good.

I tend not to see them as in direct competition -- very different types of games, very different types of console, very different sorts of target marketing. That's part of what makes them a good combo.

AKAIK Sales haven't been as high as they were before the Switch launched.
I notice the most drop off with the XBO.

Sony's sales are up this year (y-o-y), at least in NPD territories.

Got my pre-order of ARMS in. Went from not wanting this game to wanting it a whole bunch. Going to get some great exercise with this game.

I knew it! Rocket League for Switch with cross announced. There was no way this game wasnt coming to Switch. Its perfect for it, and they need to make online subscription more appealing.

Metroid 4 also just announced.

I would have LIKED to have seen at least a snippet of MP4. But perhaps the assets don't even exist yet.

Metroid Prime 4, hot dang. Also, Mario + Rabbids looks surprisingly great.

Games coming for the remainder of 2017:

I was going to get a Switch eventually and was thinking of waiting for Mario Odyssey, but I might grab it sooner than that. Kingdom Battle looks great, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Mario Odyssey for last half of the year is a hell of a line up. I need to get working on the last couple of games I have on Wii U and keep an eye on stock for the Switch.

That's really, really good.

I have Zelda, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and ARMS so far.
Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, and Rocket League are locks for me. A portable Skyrim is up my alley and Fire Emblem Warriors and Mario + Rabbids looks great. Amazing first year.

Super Bomberman R is the only game I have right now that has the logo on the spline of the case instead of just white text with the name and it's driving me crazy.

I agree with some of the hype, but we got nothing for MP4. Just an announcement, not even a teaser.

I will say Kirby looks great and Mario looks innovative and fresh.

^We got Music for Metroid Prime 4!

Anyway Zelda and the GORGEOUS Street Fighter is what I own.
Want some digital but am not sure If Nintendo fixed it?

Want more info on Zelda's DLC before buying.
