Official Thread The Switch Thread

I don't know why but I'm tempted to buy a switch, I've been off of Nintendo games since the N64 but the new smash bro's looks fun, Mario kart is always a good time and Zelda looks nice as well. Is it true that if you lose a switch or it breaks you can't just transfer the games to a new console? I've read that if you can't deactivate the original console you are screwed, this seems strange considering both MS and Sony allow this to be done easily.

As of right now that is true. Nintendo is rolling out a serice that lets you upload your game saves to their cloud service but its not up an running yet. Saves as of now are stored on the console not the SD card and cannot be moved. External devices are not supported. microSD card can only be used to save screenshots and software data, including downloaded software, software updates, and DLC.

I read that they may sell a version of the switch without the dock, would it really be called switch at that point? it's just a turbo charged Gameboy. If they are going to do that I wish they'd also release a more powerful non portable version that can run all games at 1080p, Zelda looks quite pretty but knowing that the best res it can muster is 900p on my 4K tv Is disappointing.

Sooo, I scored a switch on Sunday because of the target glitch(should have gotten more s***, didn’t think it would actually be honored by target lol).

Better to go with physical cartridges or download games?

Congrats.

I'm more of an old school guy and love physical cartridges. But if your prefer digital then do that. Regardless of your distribution system, you're going to want to pick up a large capacity SD card. The Switch internal storage is woefully small for games, game saves, photos, videos and system updates.

New Smash is looking good. Excited for the new characters and features to the game so far.

Just started playing Hollow Knight. I own it on the PC but I wanted to give it a shot in handheld mode.

It's everything I hoped it would be. Love being able to sit in bed and play before going to sleep.

Just got a replacement switch on standard warranty, got an oil slick like cloud in the middle of the screen, highly noticeably when playing dark games. Anyway, was afraid all my save files would be gone but they actually migrated my account and save files to the new console. Happy camper right here.

Yeah...I do play a lot of skyrim still when I'm bored or TV is occupied, but there's not much to play atm.... Maybe dead cells? Feels like it would be great on the go.

Dead Cells and Hollow Knight are great for handheld.

I started up Yakuza Kiwami again. I really enjoy the stories in these games, but the combat is feeling repetitive. I'm basically just killing time until Sept. 7, game-wise.

Seems like a perfect fit, except it's so graphically intensive...
