Official Thread The Switch Thread

Just got a Switch and Mario Odyssey. Not a bad little machine. Sadly the first one I brought home was DOA. Went back to Target and they happily exchanged it.

Now I need to look up some classic games.

Classic as in the NES ones with Online or just regular Switch games? If you didn't have a Wii U, I definitely suggest Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. If you're a fan of DKC then you already know you're going to get one of the best platformers available. For other ports there is Bayonetta series and Hyrule Warriors. I don't play games like Hyrule Warriors much but having the lore of Zelda with it was fun.

Really hoping they bring SNES and possibly N64 and GameCube to the Online service, but I would guess that won't happen until after the Classic consoles come out for a while. Even if not, it would be nice to be able to have a Virtual Console on the Switch. I have quite a few on the Wii U already but I'd probably buy them again if available, especially the ones I haven't grabbed yet.

I am talking Donkey Kong Original!!

Not feeling Odyssey yet to be honest
The game isn't my favorite Mario - it feels really safe to me and kind of bland. It's hard to explain, but I didn't like the Worlds nearly as much as I liked the planets in Galaxy.

It's a good game, though, but mostly forgettable.

Troll harder Val. Red 2 outsold Zelda in less than a week and has probably doubled it sales anyway.

17m in 2 weeks.

RDR2... have you played it?

Troll harder? Must be confusing me with swede.

Comparing sales proves my point as the games i mentioned are full of kids/the biggest buyers.

I have played and own it not sure the point but see you are triggered haha.

I did both reviews and sales.

Still don't see you quoting the troll in the thread.

Triggered

If only RDR2 had got great reviews as well... oh wait.

But yeah it's only kids buying it :meh:

Have you done research to prove this or just spouting more nonsense.

Cause i said rdr2 didn't get rated good?
He made a troll comment you still haven't addressed you instead attempt to address my response cause you are a butt hurt fanboy who is triggered.

Cod is mainly played by kids as is GTA,fortnite and very likely rdr2 as it fits the same mold.

Zelda is mainly played by those(cough adults) who grew up playing it.

I forgot you have a meltdown when people don't like Zelda.
Are you saying Nintendo can't attract new gamers? Man are they screwed once that lot dies then.

Red is nothing like the games you mentioned and won't attract those gamers you are talking about seeing as you know it's heavily story focused and goes at it's own pace.

But to say cod and Fortnite fans only like those sort of games is dumb itself.

Lets have no point and keep adding things not said!

Red IS like GTA.
Kids are drawn to COD and GTA dunno why maybe cause of the adult theme?
When the online is popping the kids on the mic will be rocking.

So on point its closer to what a 4 year old today would play(sadly) then Zelda in response to swede.

Ignore the bit in which he said (and you quoted) Zelda is great

Keep hiding behind the kids argument. Guess all the reviewers that made it the highest rated game are kids? And yeah those 20m+ sales mostly to kids..

His 4 year old kid comment makes no sense neither does your attempts at rebuttals.

Ran of drivel I see.

Looking at the recent release list on the store... thought I was looking at the iTunes store for a second

Picked up a Switch about a week ago.

Zelda runs circles around every open world game I've ever played. You're not supposed to make an open world game this good, on your first attempt.

Is the Switch worth the purchase now? Thinking about getting one after the first of the year, but I see a lot of people complain it doesn’t get used much and not a big list of games to get.

I think it's worth it - if you're into the Zelda, Mario, Smash, Pokemon, etc. stuff. Zelda is the biggest departure for them but everything else is what you'd expect from the longstanding series.

BotW was worth it alone for me, honestly. It's the best game I have played this generation.

After playing BotW (almost beat the fourth Divine Beast) I agree with Eric's sentiment. It's the best single player game I've played this generation and I don't typically like Zelda games. If you like open world games I'd say pull the trigger on the Switch.

I own one and would say no unless you think less than a handful of really good games are worth buying a $300 machine as 2018 overall has been a disappointment for it.

One option would be to get a used version of the Switch, then turn around and sell it after you played the couple of games you were interested in. I see used Switches on ebay for $220, free shipping, no tax. You could probably sell it for that much after you were finished, if there weren't any other games you wanted to play. That's probably the way I'd go.
