The UnionVGF Weightlifting/Workout Thread

Ive hurt my back twice in the last 2 months. I think Im going to re-think some of my workouts. There is no need for me to go so heavy any more. Im 54, work out alone and dont go around advertising what my lifts are. Im not in competition with anyone...
My main goal is to look like I can protect myself and my wife when we are out. Basically, I want anyone out looking for trouble to target someone else..I cant pull that off hunched over and walking like a feeble old man.
I still have my dedicated arm day. Biceps up to 17-1/2". Not much change in forearms.

Scored a pretty good haul on Facebook. Everything on the black mats and the bar on the rack for $350. I already sold the fixed dumbells for $50 and have a buyer for the adjustable ones for $50 and the plate tree for $10. So, Ill have $240 in 425lbs of plates.
The bar is rusty and not worth much.
I just ordered a couple of plate loaded cable towers, so I needed the weights.

Put a cross bar on them. Those bolts will be gone quickly
Its not going anywhere. Each of those concrete anchors has a shear strength of 900lbs. 4000psi concrete also.. Ill be replacing those with bigger ones this weekend when I get the proper drill bit anyway..
There are plenty of guys that dont even bolt these down and they have no issues. They are actually pretty sturdy.

Anybody watch the Arnold’s strongmen comp? Thor is going to break his deadlift record easily. Pulled 1006 lbs like nothing.

other than that, felt like thor and martins super under performed.

Hooper won as expected.

The commentators were sooo bad. You had to try to listen to the onsite announcers to hear who was actually competing because the announcers would be talking about their own nonsense until the second the lift started. Super annoying. Also weird when the color commentary guy in a strongman competition can't pronounce the word "strength" correctly.

Mitchell Hooper is awesome.
