This is an indie game that has gotten a considerable acclaim for its art, environments, and storytelling. It appeared on PC last year, but it has been ported to UE4 for the PS4.

"The Astronauts are currently testing builds of TVoEC on the PS4, so the game should be nearing completion. Hopefully we’ll be getting a release date announcement soon"

I wonder what engine they were using before. Unity was it? I wonder why the change.

I'm not sure what they were using before. Maybe Unreal 3?

"As revealed by the tweet, the Unreal Engine 3 does not support next-generation consoles which was the main reason for the move."

I thought it was alright. Was expecting more considering all the praise it received. It's a looker though.

It was pretty good. We got it like 2 months ago for like $10. The dev said it will be awhile before it comes to the Xbox, so if you have a PS4, recommend you getting this game. I see it's $8.00 now on PC. I assume it will be $9.99 on PS4?

It's been on my wishlist on Steam for a while but haven't gotten to it yet.

That's not exactly true, there are quite a few games that run on UE3 on PS4........Planetside 2 runs on UE3, Thief runs on UE3....there are a couple more I think.

PS2 has its own engine I thought. I am not sure about Thief.

VOEC on the pc runs on Cryengine.

Announced for July 15th on the European PSN store, then taken down. Not sure if it's mistake or not.

Available on PS Store now. $20. About 5 hrs. Metacritic avg. 82 (PC). Supposedly a looker. I bought it, may take a break from Witcher to play it.

From what I know, it's a narrative-focused environmental exploration game, sometimes derisively referred to as a "walking simulator." You search the environment, find bits of narrative, and piece it all together. Some of these games have more gameplay (in the traditional sense) than others, some emphasize puzzles more than others, some are weirder than others. Most have a sense of mystery. I've gotten the feeling this game has relatively little gameplay and some fairly easy puzzles, with the primary focus being the story, unraveling the mystery.

The game starts by announcing that it is a narrative-focused adventure that "doesn't hold your hand." And off you go. I've been exploring, uncovering clues, piecing things together. Nothing makes much sense yet, but I'm early on. I've been playing for about an hour.

It's a beautiful game. The atmosphere is mellow but surreal. The story seems to be a mixture of normal, paranormal, and science fiction/fantasy elements. Very interesting and confusing so far. I have to give the game credit for producing the first "wow," mouth-hanging-open moment I've had in a videogame in a long time.

At $20, it's pretty steep, so I don't expect many people to bite, but I just wanted to say this is a quality game. I'm glad I get the chance to play it on console.

Made its budget back the first week. Good news.

I swear someone here said you can't make a good game in 10 months.

Sure looks nice. They did a good job.

Nice. Been looking forward to playing The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Good to hear good things about it.

I bought the game yesterday, my girlfriend and I are gonna play through it together

I wish there was a little more direction. I'm just wandering around most of the time. I do like the first-person perspective and scenery, but there is something about the game's structure (or lack of it) that is keeping me from feeling fully engaged. It caught me at first, but now, after a couple hours, I feel like I'm flapping in the breeze and the tension has gone out of it, replaced by aimless wandering.
