It's strange that you can't use the oil. It's still equipped to the right bumper right? What haooens when you press it?

Well this is embaressing.

So the oil was easy to use. I just had to use the Witcher sense to find the pile of dead bodies, go up to it, and a prompt would tell me to press A. That worked fine no problem.

What I had trouble with was shooting my force powers at the dead bodies to get them to burn. I was hitting right bumper when the flame power was mapped to right trigger.

So anywaaaaaay...

One last question.

The field of view of this game, I think, is making the world appear very small/round to me. Like everything is curving downward on the sides. I've seen some PS4 gameplay and it didn't appear to have this. I've looked at the options menu and I don't see how to change this. Am I just seeing things or what?

PC. I could be seeing things. I'm not sure.

It's almost like when you use the Witcher sense button, how everything in the center is clear but everything on the edges is distorted a bit. Only it has this effect all the time (to a much lesser degree of course).

I could be nuts. I don't know.

This isn't the best shot but you can see how everything on the left side of the screen is leaning left, and everything on the right side of the screen is leaning right. It gets more exageratted the further you get to the side of the screen.

It becomes really pronounced if you look at the tower in the middle of the screen. When I pan the camera to the left and right, the tower becomes thicker when it gets to the edge of the screen.

I'm not crazy. It's definitely there. I'm just not sure if the console versions have this effect too.

I see what what you mean. I see it on my xbox one as well. I think thats just the game. However, when I go indoors it's gone.

Noob question...

I'm doing a side quest where I have to burn three piles of dead bodies. Each one is guarded by some low level shlubs.

I got the the first party, pressed A to douse the pile with a flammable, and hit Right Bumper to light the bodies up.

Now I'm at the second pile and it appears as though I'm out of the Right Bumper juice.

How does one replenish this? I tried meditating to no avail.
You can't just use IGNI? Hmmm, I don't remember this quest...

The quest giver required you to douse the bodies in a special oil before burning them. They wouldn't set alight unless you used the oil.

Free Witcher theme available on PS4:

"If you want a great new theme for your PS4 and you like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, for once you don’t need to spend a dime.

"CD Projekt released a brand new theme dedicated to the game on the North American and European PSN, and it’s absolutely free for both regions.

"The theme is static, but comes with custom icons, sounds and an absolutely beautiful background music, which isn’t too intrusive and fits a theme perfectly."

I like. I'll have to check that out. I'm still loving my Rapture theme -- perfect ambient music and meaty "click" sounds -- but I might switch to this one for a while.

p.s. There's another theme (Geralt & Yennifer) that you can get for pre-ordering the new DLC, which I did (you also get a buck and a half off).

p.p.s. I downloaded and tried out each theme. I'm not a fan of the metal clanking sounds, and although I like the Ciri image above, it's only available if you scroll to the upper set of icons. What you normally see is Geralt's back. I prefer the Rapture theme -- the music, sound, and images suit me better.

9/10 from Gamespot:

"The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone is at once a horror story, a romance, a character study, and a classic fairy tale. And somehow, these disparate parts mesh to form a cohesive whole.

"This is CD Projekt Red's first paid expansion for its masterful RPG, and it fits seamlessly into Geralt's narrative. Although it's meant for late-game characters around level 30, it's available at any point in your playthrough. And like many experiences in The Witcher 3, the expansion's main draw is its twisting storylines and vivid inhabitants."

I played the game for a few min tonight to see if I noticed any performance improvements on PS4 from the update, maybe it's just because I haven't played it in a few weeks but it definitely seems smoother which also makes the controls feel more responsive.

Played a few hours of the expansion. For the price, it feels meaty.(IMO exact opposite of DA:I) A few side quests popped up and I'm trying to do a few of those before tackling the bulk of the main quest line.

Digital Foundry:

The Witcher 3 patch 1.10 gives PS4 the boost it's been waiting for

"With each update comes a huge expectation that console frame-rates will - at last - see improvement. And after so many false dawns, we can safely say patch 1.10 is finally the one to deliver - for PS4, at least.

"The good news first. PS4 benefits hugely from the update, and our first stress-test in Crookback Bog shows the biggest gains in the shift to patch 1.10. This area's fog and water transparency effects push the engine hardest, and notoriously, prior versions of the game locked PS4 to the 20fps line here. But with everything updated fully, frame-rates now stick closer to the 30fps line across the entirety of our run. At points this gives The Witcher 3 a boost of 10fps overall on PS4, and it overtakes a fully-patched Xbox One version in direct comparison."

....

"Overall, it's a mixed bag. Xbox One takes one step forward, and another step back - with better asset streaming in the city, but a notably worse frame-rate there as well. As for PS4, this is the first patch where the platform is so consistently ahead of Xbox One in performance terms. Previous updates had different scenes favouring one console or the other, but this patch ramps up PS4's delivery across the board; less stuttering while travelling the world, and a smoother return in matching stress-tests.

"It's a lead that holds across all scenes on PS4, a version that already benefits from a 1080p resolution, compared to Xbox One's dynamic setup (resolving typically at 900p)."

Playing Hearts of stone and game crashes always at same spot, after reading around are more that have same problem with nvidia driver crashes.

And finished with Hearts of stone.
Manged to get past the crashes by lowering graphic, turn off bloom, lower resolution and sow on as well as using window mode.

Screenshot from one of the side quests:

Haven't Finished Hearts of Stone yet ( keep getting side tracked by side missions) but I can tell you this, I would wholeheartedly recommend any one that enjoyed the base game and wants more to do, to get this expansion.
Would you agree DLC ?

Yeah, I did not want it to end. Sow much fun  .

Finished the main quest line in Hearts of Stone. It is one of the better quests in the game and that's saying something. The expansion gave alot of content for its low price and it was very well done. Typical Witcher grey areas throughout the questline. I'm excited for the next expansion, Blood and Wine because if the first small expansion came out this good, I can't wait to see how the larger one plays out.

I agree with this. The expansion is superbly excellent. I haven't finished it yet though.

I've been playing the expansion over the past several days. I think I've put about 5 hours into it. Mostly, I've been doing the question marks, although I took some time out to complete the Ofier diagrams and get myself a spiffy new suit of armor (looks great, is light armor, and provides more protection than the heavy suit I was wearing earlier). I'm enjoying it. I notice they gave us a new start screen, with sound effects. I suppose that was part of the patch.

I love that new Start Screen. I just wish the game would load directly to it, instead of forcing you to skip past the unnecessary stuff every time.

How many hours worth of content for Heart of Stone?

Took me around 9+ hours or sow, and then have left some side quests.
This According to steam as from before I recall I have over 100 hours.

Thanks. I thought thex claim DLCs will be worth 30+ hours each.

In any case, I need to made up lost time for my game development, so I pass for now. beside the fact that I put in close to 130 hours on the game already.

I'm really enjoying this expansion. Very well done, with great dialog and lots of laughs. It's nice to see Geralt step out of his stoic character. I spent the first 5 or 6 hours just doing all the question marks and sidequests, now I'm moving through the main quest. It's a lot of fun. Sidequests were good, too.

I believe they said about 30 hours total -- 10 for the first, 20 for the second. At least that's how I remember it.

Still plunking my way through the expansion. Really liking it. It's a step up from the main game, imo -- dialog is better, characterization is better, ambient dialog better, more humor and emotion. A couple of touching moments with Shani at the wedding, although

she barfed halfway through our sex,

which I'm trying not to take personally.

All depending on the gifts that you give her, gave her the Rowan Berries and she was very happy with that remembered that she liked those sow I got the barf free scene.

Yeah, I had a feeling. Nice that they made different outcomes for how that scene played out.
