This should be a free bonus item when you pre-order an Oculus Rift. The Infinadeck.

I don't think I'd ever want this kind VR experience. I'd rather just have reality over virtual reality in this case.

With kids getting out less and less, and getting less exercise, I think stuff like this will become common in the future.

Top one is the most cost effective, but the reliance on slippery socks makes it a torn groin waiting to happen.
I can't say for certain having not tried either, but my perception is that the second one (the omni) would feel more natural to walk on. Having the angled floor and not sliding the feet round sounds better to me, but I think I like the harness better on the Cyberith.

The Virtuix Omni is awesome. I thought it was in the thousands. I didn't look much into it because it just looked expensive. At $700 it's still expensive, but it looks to be the best bang for the buck. The one I posted won't be for home use. The downside for the Virtuix Omni it it works on the same slippery base principal. This could lead to problems.

The future is scary I think. It's all going to end with dating robots + fatties in hover chairs with built-in Holodecks.

This idea has DIY written all over it. All I need is a big block of ice, some tie downs a thong and a hot pot of pasta...

3D RISKY BUSINESS SIMULATOR!

White shirt. RayBans. Socks pulled up.

"Just take that ol' record off the shelf!"

I'd love to try something like that, but I think it's more work than most gamers would want.
