Titanfall 1 as a lifelong exclusive. Sequels undetermined.

Word?

Don't really care too much myself.. but would've been nice to have a PS4 option (as a gamer who buys all systems.)

Good move on MS's part securing it though, and glad it at least is getting a PC release. Hopefully future versions continue to support PC.
 
I was just about to post this! Very unexpected...I wonder how much MS shelled out for this?? Don't care personally, but I'm guessing the timing of this announcement is in no way accidental.

Closest thing to a megaton announcement I've seen in awhile, especially since TF is the only next-gen game I've seen so far that I'd consider a system seller.

I think TF is what will take X1 over the top next year - maybe earlier now that this bit 'o news is being released now. I'm sure anyone out there on the fence (or even solely in the PS4 camp) wanting this game specifically will now either go pure PC (diehards) or may go after X1.

Really starting to like the lineup and future games coming out in the next 6-8 months ... Too bad a few of the games on PS4 aren't multi-plat - but that'll give me an excuse next year to buy one when the first price drop hits and these first party games go "platinum"...
 
Does that mean Titanfall 1 or any sequel as we'll I don't care either way since I plan as the One as my primary system

We don't know yet.. I don't think Respawn knows yet.

Titanfall 1 is being published under the EA partners program.. and I believe in general the developer controls the IP's future.

It will likely be up to Respawn what happens with sequels. And they probably won't know WTF to do until well after Titanfall 1 ships.. if it becomes a flagship title for XBO like Gears was then there's a good chance MS will throw cash their way and make it worth their while to keep it exclusive.
 
Wow I didnt know this was going to happen, Maybe it was the deal that MS sell Mass Effect 1 to EA for Titanfall?

FOR THE RECORD:

WE had an insider just yesterday who sounded pretty legit and one of the things he said was that "Titanfall was a Microsoft exclusive for the life of the title not an Xbox exclusive". Guess he was right then?

The way I read it was that Titanfall the game, not the series, is lifelong exclusive...does that mean it may come out on PS4 in the sequels? Maybe, or maybe MS might just throw more money at it. Might be like Gears, they own the publishing rights for the games (maybe the series) but not the IP?

Yes.. "Titanfall" is exclusive. The words they used were "for the life of the title."

They didn't say the franchise was exclusive, that would require basically for MS to buy the IP, which certainly was not in any way announced.

And that's the question that was asked: is the game exclusive or the franchise?

Answer: at this point the game is.

I am guessing MS will see how much of a hit it is and then lock it down if it is a system seller

Back on Topic:
Its pretty much the same deal as Gears. Besides, Microsoft is going to let this title get away from them. This isnt me saying this because I dont want it on the PS4 so no need to get "uppity". I only state this because it only makes sense for them to lock this one down. Its just another reason to get the X1 from a business standpoint. Calm down mate...:cool:

Nah I think old guy hit the nail on the head in the other thread, this has to do with TF's dependence on the cloud infrastructure, and the dedicated servers for from MS. If EA want's to pony up dedi's or if Sony can come up with a matching cloud service then perhaps it will go multiplat for the sequels, for now though its MS exclusive...we still have to see if it will be a hit or a miss :p

You are incorrect. That's about all there is to say, I said it quite calmly, and I have nothing to "let go of" as I am not irrationally holding on to anything.

The IP is owned by Respawn and EA is the publisher. If you want to pontificate on the possibility that MS will secure future games, go for it. I think it's quite possible as well. But it's not even necessarily up to them.. EA might even have the option to control sequels for a certain timespan.. Respawn may choose to go multi-platform either way, etc,etc.,etc.

However someone asked a question, and you answered incorrectly. I'm here to be helpful.. not sure what your problem is.
 
That is hands down the first megaton news for next gen systems. And of course the PS fanboys are already saying we never wanted it in the first place, or it looked like crap.
