Well, I beat the game tonight. The first half of the game was fun but maybe a bit boring. But my God does it finish off with a bang.
The whole pirate setting was incredible. The detail in the artwork was some Hollywood type s***. Seriously, it felt less like a game and more like a real location.
Like I mentioned, the pacing in the beginning may have been a little slow, but the gameplay is probably the best I've experience in this type of game. The gunplay, the mêlée combat (love the double and triple team moves) the climbing and platforming has even improved with some spots having you searching for your next move. The added elements like swinging were nice. I saw so many new animations throughout the game that its amazing. Enemy behavior was good for the most part.
The visuals, ha. What's to say really? The best I've seen as an overall package. The little details, too many to list, just gave the game a sense of place.
The camera work in this game is worth praise as well. Everything felt grounded and almost filmed at times.
I loved the story. The epilogue at the end that I didn't expect at all. I liked that they thanked Amy Henning despite the change of direction.
Basically, this was UC perfected.
