Uncharted 4

Can't really say it's a delay without a release date announced huh? target window and release date are two different things

Blame them for confusing me.

Haven't played this game yet. Already played first three but kind of want to play the remasters again.

I was pretty disappointed with this game compared to the others in the series...even the Vita release. It's still a must play game though.

It was just unbalanced. The first half was a boring walk-a-thon and the second half was pretty damn epic and intense.

I thought too much of it was a walk-a-thon. But sadly, my favorite part of the game was driving around Madagascar. That was fun.

Finally got around to playing Uncharted 4. Just finished up. I liked it. Enjoyed the ride. Took me about 20 hours.

Positives
+ The characters, the dialog, and the humor
+ The scenic environments to play around in
+ Cinematic set piece moments that made me go "whoah!"
+ Animations, high quality visuals
+ Fun gameplay, the usual Uncharted mix
+ Having the guts to wind the story of Nathan, Sully, and Elena up, rather than keep milking it

Negatives
- The shooting felt off to me. I played around with the settings but could never get them quite right. The Uncharted collection felt better somehow. I put it on Easy so it wasn't a source of frustration.

- Parts of the story just lost me, like for instance,

1. How they'd go after Sam, despite him lying and knowingly putting all their lives at risk. Just didn't ring true at a certain point.

2. Nathan lying to Elena about going on the mission to save Sam. It doesn't make sense that he would lie to her about that. He has a perfect reason -- his brother is going to die otherwise. Ok, she might freak out a little and be disappointed, but ultimately she'd understand. His brother will die if he doesn't do this. Of course she'd understand. Doesn't make sense that he'd lie repeatedly about it.

Both of those things just seemed engineered for plot purposes, and so they felt fake to me.

- The ending felt a little too
happy/sappy domestic to me.

- This is the main one: the game was more serious than the others; the themes were more heavy, the relationships were more complex and angsty. While that has its upsides, I missed the lighthearted, freewheeling charm of the earlier games. This one felt heavier.

Misc
~ I'd heard complaints about the game having too much talking, or bad pacing near the end, but I didn't find either of those things to be true for me.

Overall score: 8.5.

Good game. I think I enjoyed the earlier games a bit more, because of that lightheartedness vs. seriousness issue I mentioned, but it was a solid, fun game, and a respectable end to a great series.

Avoid reading below if you haven't played the game yet, since there will be some spoilers about the story. I figure most people who want to play it have played it by now, though, since it's been out over a year.

Good game. I think I enjoyed some of the earlier entries more, because they had a more innocent, fun, Indiana Jones sort of feel, whereas this entry, while still fun and adventurous, had more serious themes and angsty relationships.
I didn't have a problem with all the talk-y... Until my second playthrough. It's pretty onerous.. And it's the beginning that has the bad pacing, imo...

Yeah, I can understand how playing it again would make the dialog seem annoying. Personally, I wouldn't play a game like this without waiting several years in between, for the memory to fade.

Maybe you're just used to the higher framerate of the Uncharted Collection which made the shooting in this game seem off.

i went back to the collection (UC3) and yes shooting was so smooth, and also the lighter tone is so obvious along with the pacing which was way more consistent. It was small, fun cutscenes.. then gameplay repeated

i think overall the old games were much better, for me anyway

Yeah, they definitely went a bit too serious with 4.

Sounds interesting. Playing half the game without Drake picking up the gun isn't all that controversial, I mean, you probably aren't shooting for half the game that released... I think I prefer the original story concept, though a lot of elements are similar.

Last we heard the game sold over 20 million units so having over 37 million players seems like it's sold more now. Millions of them probably borrowed a friend's copy, bought used or PS+ but still, nice!

- over 37 million players on PS4 and PS5 since its May 2016 launch
- 13.3 million played the multiplayer
- 9.8 mil pet the lemur
- 9.5 mil used accessibility options
- 7.5 mil played Marco Polo again

Still getting my way through the og trilogy can't wait to jump into number 4 though they really improved a lot from 1-2.

Played it at the end of last year and really enjoyed it. Had been a while since I played the original trilogy so that break might have helped. The series might be finished but can't wait to see what they can do with PS5 hardware.

You're not getting one. When ND is done with a franchise, they are DONE(see Jak and Daxter). Plus with the success of The Last of Us games and show, you can expect them to stay hitched to that for a while.

What if they hand it over to activision, make a high res higher polly collection, maybe bundle it with a god of war collection? It’d be a huge money win for Sony and you can finally play the psp/vita/mobile versions on switch
