Another Oculus Rift games by Insomniac studio to release this year after the Touch controller come out. Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Urban magic pvp fight club...

Looks like all those crappy motion controller games they kept trying to peddle last-gen.

Where are the proper games?

Surely that Oculus Rift will get delivered one of these days.

I finally got the tracking info for my GearVR though, so theres that at least.

This looks pretty cool. But I also agree with menace. I want to see more "proper" games before I will know this is something I can invest in.

Menace's meaning of a "proper" game, Zach is a virtual dating sim of Samantha Fox bobbling on his floating VR todger.

Blech. I hate driving.

After I win the lottery/successfully become a widow, the first thing I'd get is a driver.

Then Id never have to be sober!

The mixed reality concept seems cool though.

Like, you could reenact Buried, and use the vr to be in a coffin with Ryan Reynolds, with nothing but each others body heat to keep you warm.

Just got an email saying my Rift shipped today and I should have it Monday or Tuesday. They also emailed me a code for Eve: Valkyrie game part of the Founders Pack (I am assuming a few more games are included in this "pack").

As much as I'd like to give it spin next week, I haven't yet bought a desktop capable PLUS I am seeing average sold listings on ebay about $1250 for the unit. The lowest I saw one sell for was $1050. That's just too good of money so I'm going to list it and wait for my PSVR to come (and maybe do the same if that is selling for a premium at launch). Frankly, the more I see of VR at this point in time the more I get that Wiimote/Kinect feeling of "really cool tech, blow me away at first, then realize it's only good in small doses and eventually starts collecting dust after the newness wears off because gaming is more fun laid back in my easy chair with a controller". YMMV.

If you can make a quick $500 and you're not fussed about getting into VR then go for it. Just want to let you know though that the Rift games so far are built for a seated experience with a gamepad.

I'm aware and should have been more clear by what I said. What I was meaning that doing anything apart from the tried and true norm in gaming tends to revert back to the norm. Putting on a headset, adjust focal, blocking out others in the room....VR brings many changes to gaming that will be outside the realm of the casual turn on your TV and console and play a game. It is going to take years and years for gamers to consider this to be the preferred way to play and there is a good chance that will never happen regardless of whether you are doing it standing, walking in place, or sitting.

False dichotomy. Doesn't have to be one way or another. I still like playing games on my monitor, just lIke I still enjoy playing board and card games with friends. No one's saying vr is going to replace traditional gaming anytime soon, if ever.

I dont mean to infer that you can't have one without the other. What I am saying is that with past "devices" that offer alternative ways to game is that after the newness wears off and I am given the choice that I always revert back to the old tried and true method. Given the entry point of VR right now it is just too large of an investment to end up just being another device of many that I end up ignoring.

Perfect example, I love racing games and bought one of the better racing wheels to play. It was far more immersive but ultimately required more time to setup, calibrate, and get through menus so after a couple months I just went back to playing with a controller because it was less hassle.

OK, I see what you mean now. There's really only a one time setup though. Oculus store automacally launches when you out it on. No more difficult than putting on a set of headphones and picking up a controller. As a long time owner of the dk2 rift, I'm confident vr is here to stay and I can't wait for consumer version!

Sweeeet! Have you tried any vr before? What games you gonna play first? We'll have to start a union steam vr group!

f***ed with Cardboard for a bit with my S5, and GEAR VR with my S7 now. So not much for actual games yet, the Gear VR just arrived a few days ago and I've been working, tried Collose and did some Netflix and chill.

I'm not sure what I'm going to play first though, totally depends on what I can run. I was hoping Nvidia and AMD would've released their next hardware solutions by now and was planning on building as soon as they did, so it has left me in a bit of a pickle at the moment and I'm not sure what to expect performance- wise or how far changing settings can take me.

You could do an evga card and use their step up program if the new ones come out soon.

My cousin loves his Rift. He keeps pestering me to come and try it but I'm holding out for mine. Being pushed back until early June is really starting to grate on me know knowing he's got his. My only consolation is I'm hoping Pascal will be out by then.

It's especially irritating that people who were ordering the pc/rift combos from amazon and best buy just last week are already getting theirs delivered. :smash:

Good thing I tried to use my paypal account prior to getting charged for the rift. I guess paypal had my billing address wrong so online payments weren't working. Could've lost my place in line! Dodged a bullet there.
