What movies have you seen recently?

The Wolf Of Wall Street - 8.5/10

Thought it was Pretty damn good. I was in stitches at the...

Lemon Lude scene at the country club:laugh::laugh:

Di Caprio was great and Matthew Mcconaughey was great despite his very short involvement.

I got a kick out of that scene too. I don't know, I was little disappointed with the movie. Not sure what I would rate it, maybe 6.5 or 7.

Her - Great
Joaquin Phoenix has finally moved on from his disastrous I'm Still Here and delivered the best performances of his life. Her is a wonderfully made movie that engaged me from the very start. It's a movie that is futuristic but at the same time a throwback to the late 50's and early 60's. The clothing a was an odd choice but it fit the films world perfectly and it has meaning because not everyone is dressed like that.

There's a lot built into the film and there's seems to be meaning in even the most trivial aspects. Her is a movie that will create conversation. The set and clothing choices, the acting, the directing, the camera work, the locations, are all powerful in Her's world that they all require attention and analysis.

As someone who's always reading up on the latest tech, I was getting lost in Her. The dialogue and connection between Theodore and Samantha is perfection. After all, Samantha's an OS so why wouldn't it be perfect? But it goes beyond that. The connection goes beyond perfect and becomes real. I won't talk much more about that as it's the film and I want every one who reads this to go into the film as fresh as possible. Then again I don't have a clue what the trailer reveals.

Her is a fantastic movie, and, while the year is very young, it's going to take a special movie to surpass it. It was enjoyable, engaging, cute, inventive and a joy to watch. The movie requires an open mind because it deals with technology that is very real but impossible at the same time. With how wonderfully crafted Her is, in every facet, suspension of disbelief comes very easy.

Disgusting.

I guess it depends what your expectations were. All I knew of the movie going in was it was a comedy/crime movie based on a true story. So I had Low expectations.

Hmmm...I thought this was some kind of romance movie, but what you described here sounds far more interesting.

Hmmm, yeah I think I'll watch Her when it comes out on BluRay.

Joaquin Phoenix has been astoundingly good lately (incredible in The Master IMO)

Latest stuff I've watched worth mentioning,

Rush-F1 true story type thing. What a great story, very enjoyable movie. Damn F1 looked like it was fun to follow back then.

City Of God (BluRay)-picked it up really cheap, only saw it the once when it came out, remember it as one of the best movies I'd ever seen. It's still a great film!

Not sure what to watch next though.

Just seen The Wolverine.
it was better than i expected. it stumbled a bit in the third act but overall it was pretty enjoyable.

The Wolverine extended edition 8/10 Man the little bits they added to the movie really helped out and the extra blood man if only they did not go with the superhero ending and removed viper from the movie :(

Kill Zone - S.P.L. 5/10 I just did not like this movie. Was so looking forward to it had some good fights but that ending man it was forking goofy. The story was just not that great.

The Wolverine - Big improvement over the first but the final 15 minutes felt a little out of place.

Didn't mind Viper but could have done without the giant Samurai.

I watched American Psycho the other day, not real sure what to say about that crazy ass movie but I did like it. Tonight or tomorrow it is either The Big Lebowski or Reservoir Dogs. i am going back and watching big movies I have missed

The wolf of Wall Street
9/10 - great movie! Leo should get best actor academy award!

American Hustle
7/10 - great movie, slowed down at some parts but I think that Jennifer Lawrence stole the show.

Her
8/10 - another great film! Very cool premise and Joaquin Phoenix is back.

47 Ronin - 3/10

Saw this last night and even with really low expectations, it still disappointed.

Nothing really grabs you and pulls you in. The action isn't great. The acting for the most part is not too bad, with the exception of Keanu and the Witch. The ending also felt like a scene mid movie, rather than the penultimate scene the movie was building towards. The Effects were pretty good though.

Overall: I say wait for a bargain bin buy or rent if you must see it. Otherwise, steer clear.

Both are great movies. So can not go wrong with either.

Came back from The Wolf of Wall Street, and I liked it. This is coming from a guy who can't seem to swallow Scorsese most of the time. Scorsese's (good) movies are mostly about self-destructive stubborn idiots. Deniro played a lot of them, Joe Pesci played a lot of them, and ones without self-destructive stubborn idiots were always ones that were actually pretty mediocre or bad. It's just painful to watch idiots like Johnny Boy or Jake LaMotta, since Scorsese does not glorify them, but neither criticize them, and he just rolls the film. Many times I just think "WHY ARE YOU FILMING THIS SMASH THE F'IN CAMERA RIGHT NOW" out of great annoyance.

TWOWS is another movie about such idiots, with twists. This is the movie where Scorsese parted ways with many of his collaborators except for DiCaprio and the editor Thelma Schoonmaker, and brought in a whole new talent he got from Boardwalk Empire to make a new film. It feels like these younger filmmakers had a great respect for Scorsese and tried to recreate younger Scorsese with his older self with lots of trademark editorial twists and tricks, which pays off quite well without being too stressful. The movie is full of the characters' idiotic doings yet many of them are over-the-top stupidity of slapstick at its craziest height, so it becomes more fun than painful most of the time. I'd say this movie is very much Scorsese yet more accessible than his earlier films. Much better than the director's recent films like The Departed or Shutter Island.

The Big Lebowski is my favorite Coen brother's film. It is by a wide margin. It's one of my most quoted movie amongst friends. Reservoir Dogs is great as well but obviously a different movie than The Big Lebowski.

I love American Psycho. It was the first time I had seen Bale. When I saw it in the theater there were maybe 12 of us in the entire theater? I went with my girlfriend at the time. I was in stitches during many scenes. It was me and some other random guy cracking up. My girlfriend hated it as and I think the rest of the people in the theater, other than that guy, did as well.

A lot of the movie was over the top, but from what I gather by looking into it most of the stuff actually happened! These guys were nuts!

I watched The Big Lebowski last night, pretty good but not near the hype I have heard all these years. I also started the 1st Human Centipede, might finish it tonight. I would like some recommendations o good scary/horror films.

Inside.

We need to talk about The Big a Lebowski. It's gets better the more you watch it.

I mean I liked it, it just didnt match all the hype that I have read for years online...imo of course

I agree with this. not my favorite Coen bros movie. and I have watched it several times. Check out Blood Simple. that is my all time favorite Coen Bros movie.

Horror? Session 9 is my all time favorite horror flick.

The Big Lebowski is one of my all time favorites. So many classic lines that make you laugh.

Horror... I remember this old one that freaked me out its called In The Mouth Of Madness.

Saw Her last week, really enjoyed it. One of the better movies I have seen in the theater.

I want to see American Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street, but I think I'll wait until they're on blu-ray.

La belle noiseuse

this film has the best attention-to-length ratio. I find a lot of long films boring at some stage - even if i end up enjoying them overall - but not this one. It came in at around four hours in length, featured 5 characters basically, and contained about 3 locational sets. But it was engaging as hell, didnt lose me at one moment. Shows what pure character analysis and development and accomplish. There were also some very inrerestinglong takes of literally just a person drawing (the film was about tbe process of creating a painting) which offered breaths to the general pacing, yet also added another layer of entracement... they were some of tbe most engaging scenes in tbe film actually
