What movies have you seen recently?

Death Race 2000

Had no idea that the recent death race movie was in vein of death race 2000.

Pretty neat

And young Sylvester Stalone as Machine Gun Joe haha.

It's technically not a movie, but I did see the original Pee-Wee show when it was just on a broadway type of stage. Found the DVD last week and had to get it. Got great laughs from it and everybody on the show looked like they were having fun. Very good show.

I love American Psycho. It was the first time I had seen Bale. When I saw it in the theater there were maybe 12 of us in the entire theater? I went with my girlfriend at the time. I was in stitches during many scenes. It was me and some other random guy cracking up. My girlfriend hated it as and I think the rest of the people in the theater, other than that guy, did as well.

I have to return some video tapes.

DREDD

Very simple plot and setting, but so incredibly badass. Good supporting soundtrack to.

I wish this could have grown in an appeal with a supporting video game and of course a Sequel showing more of Megacity 1.

Also, for some reason I really liked the direction they took with the Lawgiver Motorcycle not flying.

The ABC's of Death

It's as ridiculous as it sounds. 26 Directors. 26 Ways to Die.

I'm rating this 5 out of 26. That's about how many shorts in this thing I thought were really worth watching.

My favorites are:

D for Dogfight

H is for Hydro-Electric Diffusion

S is for Speed

T is for Toilet

V is for Vagitus (The Cry of a Newborn Baby)
Mostly for the badass robot.

Some of these are kind of lame. Others are sick and demented (mostly from the Japanese directors). Z is for Zetsumetsu (Extinction) is like a Japanese Dr. Strangelove turned into a porno music video about rice and radiation with two women fighting each other with a giant penis.

Filth -7/10

Hilarious, dark, and Abundantly debauched. A fast paced journey into the self-involved and libido driven life of Bruce Robertson. A Scottish Detective chasing a promotion and relishing the games needed to secure it.

James McAvoy gives a fantastic performance as Bruce Robertson. Jimmy Broadbent and Eddie Marsden also put in some stellar work, albeit in much smaller roles. I did find that the Jimmy Broadbent scenes kinda took you out of the movie.

A worthwhile watch if you fancy a laugh, while also wanting something with more serious overtones.

Cockneys v Zombies

8/10 for a B movie. Pretty funny if you like English humor.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - 5.5/10

Disappointing.

The movie just sort of starts and ends. There is nothing memorable anywhere in it, the acting is fine but you will forget the performances before you get out the building, the action doesn't WOW - not that there is much -, the story is dumbed down to the point where it seems rather silly. The characters seem very dumb, especially the antagonist and the protagonists significant other.

I have seen a lot of the "Ryan" movies with Ford and Affleck, but this new one is easily the worst one.

G.I.Joe The Rise of Cobra

Goofy but I always enjoyed it enough. Was going to watch the 2nd but XBox Video didn't have a rent option.

The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger are awesome movies. The Sum of All Fears imo is alright. Gets too much hate.

Very bum to hear the movie isn't that great. My brother said the same thing.

Kenneth Branagh as a director is not that good to begin with, his non-Shakespeare films have not aged well at all, so I have been wondering from the first place why studios bothered with turning him into a blockbuster director since Thor came out.

Yeah, looking through his director credits in IMDB doesn't reveal too many good films. Thor was enjoyable though.

Huh, never woulda thought Kenneth Branagh directed Thor. All I can think of is period pieces when I hear his name...

Man of Tai Chi, directed by Keanu Reeves.

8/10. I really liked it. The fight scene were great. Very grounded with little wire work.

This is the End- Thought it it was great. Dark and twisted but funny.lol

Lone Survivor - So freaking good. Can't wait to see it again.

Captain Phillips - Enjoyed this one also. Hanks was top notch.

MGO is offering two free rentals for signing up, so I took advantage of that and watched Captain Phillips. It might be Hank's best performance yet. Really good. And 500 Days of Summer. Also really good.

Do you guys have a Letterboxd?

Finally got around to watching Prisoners last night. Stunning film. Great performances from Jackman and Gyllenhaal.
One of the best crime dramas I've seen in a long time.

All is Lost
5/10

Any sailor worth his salt will tell you that this guy (redford) did almost everything wrong. Solo sailors are a danger to themselves and to everyone that has to go rescue their dumb asses.
it was boring as well.

Watched Paranmormal Activity : The marked ones, wasn't actually half bad, was funnier then i can ever remember it been it's more a comedy then a horror, wasn't really scared, couple jumps but that's it but some people in the audience were scared, and what a crap ending!

Got around to watching the Incredible Burt Wonderstone last night.
Was fairly mediocre, but a great performance from Jim Carrey.

Few genuinely funny moments, but I found it a bit awkward overall. 5/10.

Just watched the fisher king, and my goodness I don't even know where to start. Gilliam an Williams really made a classic with this one. 9/10
