What movies have you seen recently?

I don't collect hard copy movies much anymore. I may wind up trucking long haul again and would rather stream than use up storage space.

I went a huge stretch without buying any movies, but I've been on a little kick again lately. There are a lot of movies out there (like Suspiria) that are only available for purchase via physical disc.

MI Fallout

Saw it at a IMAX theater...
Movie was good.
IMAX screen looked significantly worse than my 75 inch.

Looked up its specs....
Dual 2K projectors...that explains it.

Ready Player One - 9/10 Rented this tonight on Blu Ray. This movie was awesome! I can’t wait to pick it up on 4K and watch it again. It amazes me how Spielberg continues to speak to new generations. I hope this film is a big hit to the younger crowed and they go back and see his older work.

Suspiria - As mentioned before, I bought the new 2 disc updated 4K transfer Blu-Ray a few weeks ago. Watched it this morning, and watched most of of the special features. After watching the movie mentioned below, I decided to throw it in and watch it again tonight! This looks absolutely beautiful on the new Blu-Ray, and sounds beautiful in surround sound. Such a cool movie, such a cool soundtrack, really quality Blu-Ray set. Can't remember the last time I watched a movie twice in one day!

Assault on Precinct 13 - The John Carpenter original is on Shudder, they have a surprising amount of non-horror added recently too. They seem to be going out of their way to get more Carpenter stuff, which is awesome. I've been on an unofficial quest to rewatch all of his movies lately. This is one I'm pretty sure I've seen before either on TV or with roommates when I was in college, but I couldn't remember much of anything about it, so it pretty much felt new. Fun '70's low budget (extremely low budget) action movie. For whatever reason, my favorite parts about this movie are the first 20 or so minutes where you get to see people driving around '70's LA. Soundtrack is great, as you'd expect.

Children Of Men - 10/10 It has been many years since I’ve seen this. Such an amazing film. Acting, cinematography, and score. They added it to Amazon Prime recently. Now I need to get to The Handmaidens Tale, I’ve heard a lot of good things about that show.

Shudder seems to also generally want 'Cult Film' which can include surreal Sci-Fi which is the kind of s*** I love. I wonder if Tarkovsky stuff is on there. I hear very good things about seeing the original SOLARIS as well as his film Stalker.

I would like to see more Cronenberg on there.

I have not seen the original Suspiria yet unfortunately, but the remake is looking amazing. I wish the same people had been in charge of The Wicker Man remake.

Thanks. It's so weird it's not even on Amazon, but I'll check into that.

Amazon does actually list it, but as Unavailable from a 3rd party. I'm sure I could buy it there on Bluray, but I'm trying to avoid collecting things for now.

The Howling - Forgot to mention this. I'd seen it several times when I was young edited for TV, first time seeing the "R" version. Aside from a very disturbing sex scene, I'm not sure if that much violence was ever cut out on TV! Fun to watch again.

Ready player one 4k

So much pop culture and good fun. Looks great in 4k.

Ant-Man 2: Great!

Incredibles 2: Meh. Opening and closing scenes were good but the entire rest of the movie was way too preachy and expository.

Sicario - My first time watching this movie and I found it to be awesome. I'll have to watch the second one when it comes to streaming.

Second one is right up there with the first one. Possibly better as the score is a little better. It may be a case of Godfather 1 and 2 where 2 was better than the first and is rare. Empire is the only other case I can think of.

I love this movie, just bought the Blu-Ray recently (it's legitimately $4 on Amazon right now, comes with digital copy too). I love all of Taylor Sheridan's (the writer) recent movies: Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River.

Glad to hear this, I didn't see it in the theater and haven't spoken with anyone who did. Looking forward to renting it as soon as it's available!

Finally watched Justice League which has been sitting on my DVR for months. My gosh... DC needs to just reboot everything and start over. Your casting is awful. Honestly a complete waste of my time.

Mississippi Grind - 7/10 This is on Netflix thought I would give it a shot I like gambling movies. It was good. Ben Mendelsohn was really good in this and Ryan Reynolds was a nice addition. More of a character drama than just about gambling scenes.

Saw Mission Impossible Fallout lastnight. A good non-stop action film with a decent enough story line.
Couldn't get over what a sh*t actor Henry Cavall is though. I mean he's perfect for Superman because he's alien to earth so his unnatural line delivery and semi awkwardness suits the part. But put him in anything else and he's a train wreck. I've seen porn actors who put this guys acting to shame.

I had no idea it was the same writer for Hell or High Water and Wind River. I liked both of those movies.

Daughters of Darkness - Arty Belgiun vampire movie from the early '70's. Part of the Joe Bob Brigg's Last Drive-In special on Shudder. Great locations and nice cinematography, but I won't be rushing to see this again...

Blood Feast - Generally considered the first "gore" movie, even has a glory era Misfits song about it. Ridiculously low budget, hilariously bad acting, lots of violence. Surprisingly entertaining for how old and low budget it is.

Re-Animator - I like this movie more every time I see it. I still don't consider it the classic most do, but the final 1/3 is pretty entertaining.

The Warriors - Still awesome.

It was weirdly cool hearing Jeffrey Combs as Brainiac in INJUSTICE 2.
