What pronouns do you use?

I believe this guys point is not to refer to a transgender person as "it". He is advising new students to simply ask the person which sex that they want to be addressed as. Being the school with the highest population of lesbian, gay, and transgender students, there could be a some confusion for new students on how not to be disrespectful to these people. Kind of a "How to not get beat up by a tranny" tutorial.

That I get, but people at this school would already know not to refer to someone as an "it." Also, people really shouldn't be getting upset if someone refers to them as an incorrect gender. It happens. There's social norms that the world is accustomed to.

Well only an A-hole refers to somebody as an it. Normal people refer to somebody specific to their apparent gender. So if the person looks like a woman, the pronouns used for females are used. Same for males. A youtube video will not solve the A-hole issue, only a punch to the face can do that :D
