Whats the max HD size the PS3 can use?

Doesn't answer your questions re: size.

Supported HDD
Only the following type of hard disk drive (HDD) is officially supported with the PS4™ system:
  • 2.5 inch internal type (9.5mm or slimmer) *
  • Serial ATA (Parallel ATA is not supported)
* Proper operation is not guaranteed for all models. While other drive types may work, we only recommend using officially supported drives with your PS4 system.

This article mentions trying three drives...the largest being 1TB

later in the article they wrote:
Of course, the fact that the PS4 is compatible with any 2.5-inch hard drive (with a capacity of 160GB or over) means that there are hundreds of options out there, and we wish we could have tested more of them. Something worthy of serious thought is a 2TB 5400rpm drive: typically, the higher the storage, the more data is crammed onto the platters, so while 5400rpm may not sound particularly fast, bandwidth does increase according to data density. If we were to start this feature from scratch, we would probably swap in one of these drives in favour of the hybrid SSHD - the variable success we got from the onboard caching suggests that the price premium isn't really worth it.

So it sounds like they'll handle any size HDD as long at is a SSD and its a 2.5-inch internal. Sounds like they can get expensive though. They then linked to another article on how to do it on the cheap.

Seems like a lot work, especially considering the ease of the Xbox One's plug and play.

We have been using a 2tb Seagate drive for almost a year now without any issues. Just ordered a 2nd one for my 2nd PS4, think it goes for about $90 on Amazon.

find like 2 people who tried a 2TB did not work so will just pop in the 1TB I got. not much of a boost from the 750 I got now but all well thing was just 54 cdn. hard as s*** to find an answer on this.

I've had 2TB in my PS4 for almost 6 months now... I believe the biggest in a PS3 is either 750GB or 1TB, I can't remember.

yeah did that last week. got sick of having to remove stuff all the time. Load times also seem to be better too.
