Which 4K HDR TV are you planning to buy for Scorpio or One s?

I was up at Best Buy picking up Prey so as usual I took a tour of everything. The OLEDS on display were back in the corner and there were like 2 of them. I'm sure there were a couple more in Magnolia section but the point being the 4K LEDs overwhelmed them. Unless dropping $2000-$3000 is not an issue I don't see how you can go that route. From my causal eye the brightness is heavily favoring the LEDs. It's looks like they took another big step forward while OLED took a half step. It's reminding me of plasma all over again. The OLEDS look amazing but get hurt on a side by side comparison in the big box store where one technology is far cheaper and brighter screen just has more pop to it.

A few of us got the Sony X800D when the PS Pro came out and we've been very happy with it.

Samsung is sort of the choice for a lot, but this Sony was well reviewed too.

When the PS Pro came out, I was going to wait for a bit, but I changed my mind and was glad I did. Even upsampled games look amazing.

I'm sticking with what I have right now. I just bought a new TV, 2 years ago.

I bought a Samsung 4K SUHD 65" KS8500 which is a rebadged KS8000 and 4K UHD 40" KU6290 3 months ago. So far, no issues and gaming/4K netflix looks great on them. After seeing the Sony A1 OLED 4K TV at Bestbuy, I might buy it next year and give my KS8500 to my parents.

Can anyone comment on the Vizio m series sets? The reviews and prices are really good and they are local dimming.

Vizios are great for best bang for the buck. I can't speak to individual set but I bet it's good.

I have the p series and it's the best set I have ever owned . Don't know a whole lot about the M series but I'm pretty sure that's what kvelly has .

I have the new 70" M series Vizio. 4K with HDR and all that jazz. I don't use the android tablet remote, I don't use the smart TV features. The TV itself is awesome, and it took nearly a half a year to get a patch out to make sure that the PS4 and Xbox One work on it properly. Now that Vizio patched it, it's great. The only downfall is, in my experience, is that only one HDMI port supports HDR with 4K. The rest of the HDMI support 4K, but not with HDR. HDR is supported on the other HDMI ports, but not at 4K. I think the P series offers more HDMI ports that offer both together.

Right now my Xbox One S is hooked up to the HDMI that has the 4K HDR for the UHDBR player, as well as the HDR games like Gears, Forza Horizon 3, etc. MS seems to be pretty focused on HDR. I have my PS Pro on one of the other HDMI ports that supports a little better performance, and I have it set at 4K, but no HDR. I don't know if Vizio is/can/did patch that port to support HDR or not.

Great quality picture, no troubles with the TV now.

Correct . On my p series all ports support HDR except HDMI 5.

Man, I feel like I just bought my TV (almost a year ago now, I think, lol), and at the same time, it feels like eternity! Still love it though, and I can't wait to finally put it through the paces with Scorps!

The B6 or C6 OLED. I have a OLED since late 2015 and now that I've seen how amazing that picture quality is I can't go back something else. So it's gonna be a 4K OLED for damn sure.

I'll probably get a Samsung or LG. Costco seems to have 60" 4k/HDR tvs for $1,500 (CDN). By the fall, it might even come down another few hundred.

For TV watching, I also want to a model that maxes out refresh rates.... 120/240 hz or whatever so I can watch sports silky smooth.

Skimming the feature set, I don't see what's so much better with $3,000 models. There must be some extra features the $1,500 models don't have.

Ahhhh.... good to hear feedback like this. I'd never think about different ports supporting different specs. You'd think an HDMI port is an HDMI port.

When I get my 4k TV, I'll look into it and see if the manufacturers make the tv's inputs all the same.

Based on budget, price, performance and overall outlook on technology I'm thinking this fall on a 60" set somewhere in the $800 range. I just don't have the money for OLED and even if I did putting out $2000 seems downright scary. I would be downright paranoid over a spec of dust on that thing. Get something cheaper and more disposable that will also be less stressful. It's pretty amazing my current 50" set looks on the smaller end of the spectrum now days.

Already have my 65" E6, OLED with updated firmware to support HDR gaming.

...and seriously, the 4K is nice, but the blacks/color gamut/HDR are what make it sing. 1080p looks brilliant on it.

That's the right move, can never go to LCDs after owning plasma and now OLED.

That's for damn sure my friend. OLED is just something else.

Last week I sold my EC9300 OLED because if not now, then it will never happen and right now it's still worth something. Now I just wait for a great deal for the B6 or even B7.

The current information is a bit thin on the ground in terms of specification, but we’re prepared to add what we do know to a bit of educated speculation. The panel is a 35” 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ‘UltraWide’) model with a native 200Hz refresh rate and support for Nvidia G-SYNC HDR (30 – 200Hz variable) to keep tearing and stuttering in check. The other aspect of this is the HDR (High Dynamic Range) capability, with support for HDR10. This model features an FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) solution with 512 zones on the backlight, allowing some sections of the screen to be very bright and some to be very dim. This compares favourably in terms of contrast performance to most LCD monitors, which simply have a single backlight controlled as one unit. As with all G-SYNC models, the backlight will almost certainly be ‘flicker-free’. It also makes use of Quantum Dots to enhance the colour gamut and hence potential range of shades and vibrancy potential offered by the monitor. The DCI-P3 colour space is supported, so a colour gamut of at least 125% sRGB is expected. Finally, 10-bit colour will be supported as this is another ‘G-SYNC HDR’ and HDR10 requirement.

I like it but boy that thing is going to be expensive.

Would you get a better value buying a 4K HDR TV end of this year and a 4K, HDR Freesync 2 gaming monitor in 2018 or vice versa? I'll want both for Scorpio as I struggle to play shooters or intense skill based games on the big screen. Big screen is for immersive single player games.

Also what's the consensus on size vs quality? 55" Oled or 65" high end Samsung LCD?

so I want tv by end of next month. What should I get? I really want 55" oled tv but still pricey in au's.

so hit me best 55" tv for Scorpio in Australia? Got AU$2500 to spend.

I want a 65" TV and to stay under 2K. Thinking I may wait another year and keep Scorpio on a 1080P TV short term. My next TV purchase will be my last for 4 to 5 years at least and it seems like I may regret not getting an Oled.

Would be nice if a kick ass gaming monitor is available under 1k.

I posted some good low priced/good spec sets.
