Which 4K HDR TV are you planning to buy for Scorpio or One s?

A edge lit LG?

Sj8500 series is great for gaming. I can't find a better set for lag, supported hdr formats... IPS panel so blacks are lacking vs competition and lacking in color volume because of this.

Outstanding low input lag, good enough for even competitive gamers. Normally only the 'Game' picture mode has low input lag, but when the input's icon is set to 'PC' all picture modes have the same low input lag and display proper 4:4:4 color (though some settings are disabled). This input lag is a huge improvement over last year's UH8500.

All common resolutions are supported. 4k @ 60 Hz @ 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 color is only supported when 'HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color' is enabled for the port used. 4:4:4 color is only displayed properly when the input's icon is set to 'PC' (aka PC mode). With webOS update 3.6 LG has fixed the PC mode HDR issue, so now 4:4:4 color is properly displayed in HDR content in PC mode. 120 Hz is listed as a possible resolution on a PC, so no custom resolution is needed.

The TCL p607/5 is as good in hdr gaming, cheaper and provides a better picture overall. The thing is there are quality issues. Check out avsforums for issues folks are having.

Picture is ass though.
In fact I say LG is near the bottom of current LCD 4K TV makers when it comes to PQ.
I owned the last good 4K set they made before they did away with Full Array.

I watched Godzilla on a 65sj9500 and compared to the oled C7P that was playing the same film directly over it. The blacks are lacking but otherwise it was a nice set and I could never say the picture looked like ass for the half hour I was there. Also if PQ is everything get oled, low input lag and the best blacks.

OLED and gaming don't mix for my tastes.
Ass is a strong word...its PQ is below the sets listed in this thread.

Wow! The lag is only 15ms with HDR. My tv is 23ms with hdr enabled and it's great. Very nice, though I dare say if the black uniformity is like the LG I have downstairs, it's pretty disappointing. Price was good though, and it's sharp.

Yeah anything below 30ms I believe they rate as great. It is hard to find the perfect TV with the hdr formats and PQ. Fortunately, I can't pick up on too many differences between tvs visually until I see the Oleds.

I think input lag gets a bit overblown, I bought this TV last year http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x800d and don't even put it in game mode and I don't notice any lag between pushing a button and having the command executed on the screen. I'm sure once you get really high up there you notice but even when it was hitting 49ms from my old PS4 it didn't bother me one bit. They don't mention what 4K HDR is outside of game mode in the review so not sure what I'm getting on my Pro but I don't have any problems playing games at all.

It's really important to me. Anything over 20ms and you can forget it. But I am used to monitors so I'm sensitive to it.

Its very important but as I said IMO PQ is more important.

Important yes, but I think people who talk about it like "anything over 20 is unplayable" are way overboard especially for console players as most of us only play on TV's and not monitors to begin with.

I never once put mine in game mode and I never felt any lag at all, while that doesn't mean there isn't any the fact that I didn't notice it means it wasn't a big deal. Now if you start going up to near 100 I'm sure that's another story.

I think the lag matters for twitchy online games...especially if you're already starting behind the 8 ball with higher than average internet latency. I agree that it has limited impact on most other console games.

I know it doesn't work out for many people's circumstances however my strategy is to go for the TV that gives the best image quality for the buck and then buy a less expensive, low latency 4K monitor for online games...where I'm not taking time to appreciate visuals as much.

I find 40ms or lower than to be fine and I do use game modes.
Funny thing about but good in a way about my display is it runs less than 25ms with 4K/60hz/HDR and higher with 1080p and lower content.
So I feed everything/upscale everything to 4k to reap the benefits.

Yeah the highest mine goes as far as I know is 49 if doing 1080p outside of game mode, I had the standard PS4 on that set for a few weeks before the Pro came out and never noticed any problems. All other ratings are under 40 for my set so I'm fine.

I try to take it all into account, gaming is important but I also want a good picture when watching movies or TV. The reason I went with the set I have now is simply because I was able to get it and a 5 year warranty for the same price as the comparable model from Samsung all while having pretty good input lag ratings and decent to good ratings in every other area. I don't want to blow the budget on a TV until HDR is sorted and there is more 4K content out there. Sadly I ended up getting a set 5 inches smaller than I should have, I got a 50 when I should have gotten a 55, so I may end up selling it and getting the 55 inch 900E from Sony.

Not surprised LG OLED won best gaming TV and best HDR.
And for a fraction of the price of the over priced Sony sets.

I want the Panasonic..but cant find it in the states, just because I have a Panasonic vt50 and the picture is amazing still with all the newer technology...the b7 is what ill be upgrading to at the end of the year

Yeah I love Panasonic (Owned 3 of their plasmas) as well, but don't know if I would pay for one if it was more than the LGs. Especially since the Panasonics don't do Dolby Vision. My LG C6 is amazing, I'm going to upgrade when next years models come out and go up to the 65".

I still have not pulled the trigger on a tv yet...its a big decision. I want a Samsung but their 2017 tv's are pretty underwhelming for the price they want. I got a great offer from Visions on a 65" ks9500, over half off regular price. My biggest worry is seeing the 2018 tv's come out and they blow all previous models out of the water making me wish I had waited...its a tough choice. I want my tv to last 5 or so years and thats making me reluctant to pull the trigger due to the way tv technology appears to be moving fast. I wish I lived in the US (Canada) where I could pick up a cheap TCL and live with it for now but I don't have that choice. I checked out the vizio's in store and they are nice and all but still a bit hesitant on getting one.

What do you guys think of the ks9500, I see complaints of the ks8000's back panel peeling off due to the tape and I think the 9500 would probably have the same issue. If I went with this TV I wouldn't be able to get any kind of extended warranty on it, that worries me. Do you think its future proof or is it going to be old technology in 6 months making me regret hopping on the 4k bandwagon? This TV purchase has been painful to say the least haha. After rtings came out with their new 1.1 test bench it makes me very worried about getting a tv this year or sucking it up and waiting and seeing how far the prices can fall as well on next years models.

US version UN65KS9800/UE65KS9500 UK version

Is probably the best Samsung you can buy.

The 55" OLED is in my price range currently. The 65" at $1000 more isn't. What do you guys think between size and quality? A good 65" set or a great 55" set?

Great 55" set. I would never trade my 55" OLED for a bigger LED. I will be upgrading to a 65" OLED next year though.
