I don't know who won it but I can say Square Enix definitely lost IMO.

Out of the shows I saw:

1. Microsoft. Lots of games, good flow, not a lot of exec chit chat. And when done, a big focus was promoting the new studios. Worst part was that Game Pass segment with that woman flubbing her lines and talking about 2x faster loading times.

2. Sony. Had nice long gameplay segments, but the show was weird, intermission pauses killing the flow, showed hardly any games. And the music segment about the Japanese era game was done by a white guy dressed in Japanese garb. Shaun Layden is the worst suit in gaming, who seems more accustomed to selling used cars than technology

3. Bethesda. If it wasn't for Todd Howard's detailed segment, I would have given it a D. Too much talking, a rock song intro that went on too long, too much human resource family cuddling videos, some awful presenters.

Microsoft. Most excited I’ve been about the brand in a decade.

Sony had three amazing demos but I feel like they’re just staying the course and the conference felt like it was on uninspired cruise control.

I like Shaun. He's awkward, but he seems sincere. He says good stuff about their mission. I've got no doubt Sony is on track, with him on board. They're delivering. Next gen is going to be good for them -- not as good as this one, but good. I'm talking in terms of games. They will launch with a stronger lineup in the first couple years than last round.

Anyway, I think Shaun is fine. He occasionally makes me laugh, and I like most of the stuff he says.

I like Phil, too, though. I like 'em both.

I would've picked MS but Elder Scrolls 6 has me absolutely titled... even though it's probably like 2-4 years out.

Still.

3 or 4, I'd say. I'm expecting 2022.

New E3 rule.... no banjo's.

Flute guy can stay...

but mostly because his actual youtube channel is f***ing awesome...

It was hard to choose between Sony, Ubisoft and Bethesda. MS show was fine but for the life of me I can't remember anything specific about it other than Ori looks good and that they bought some studios (finally) a few of which were only making Xbox One games anyway. Knowing they are working on being better for next gen is nice but that does nothing for me as a One X owner now. The best stuff at their show was multiplatform, it was a lot of sizzle without a lot of substance. They made a nice commercial for gaming in general but not necessarily for Xbox, I'm sure that'll change in future shows but that's just how I feel about where they are now.

Sony, Ubisoft and Bethesda all left lasting impressions.

Sony made the case for why they are the best place to play, they may no longer have the most powerful hardware but it's hard to complain about that after seeing how good their first party games look. I can't wait to play TLOU2, Ghost and Spiderman, these are the kinds of games you'll buy a console for IMO. Death Stranding still makes no sense to me and I couldn't care less about it at this point. They need to drop the theatrical presentation stuff though, it kills the flow for people at home.

Ubisoft once again had a fun show, AC Odyssey looks awesome and I can't wait to play it, BGE2 seems like it's going to be cool, it's nice to see them supporting older titles still and their show just had a fun overall feel. That's two years in a row where they were number 2 on my list for best E3 show.

Bethesda had a great show as well. not all that interested in the new Wolfenstein but they got me to care about Fallout 76 and I had no interest in it before this show. Todd Howard did an awesome job with his presentation and just hearing about a new Elder Scrolls was great even though it's years away.

EA sucked and I just don't think they need their own show every year.

I honestly never even think of E3 in terms of "who won". I just love seeing the latest stuff. Being an Xbox guy, I loved MS's conference the best, and from a pure presentation standpoint, they were far and away the best.

Two of my faves (Rage 2 and Just Cause) were from Bethesda, but the conference was a slog.

Sony's conference format was the worst in years, but they had the corner on cinematically beautiful games.

EA was weak (Battlefield and Anthem were high points, though), and Ubisoft was a bit draggey though I loved seeing Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Great E3 for me. I don't know how I will survive next spring...

Yeah at the end of the day "who won" won't matter in a few weeks, unless someone does some damage like MS did with their X1 reveal or Sony with the PS3 this stuff blows over pretty quickly.

I went with Ubisoft. Nintendo had absolutely nothing that I was interested in. Microsoft only had Forza Horizon 4 that I cared about, but I only have a standard X1 and I don't wanna play it unless it's on the X1. Sony had GoT and TLOU 2, but they're both too far away. Ubi had AC: Odyssey which is coming out this year and is definitely a must play game for me.

When people I ask the question I just give the name/s of the companies with the most games I want. So this year... Sony: Ghosts, Last of Us 2. Ubisoft: The Division 2, AC:Odyssey. Bethesda: Fallout 76, Starfield.

I'm a gamer. Don't give a s*** about conference presentations or corporate speech or comapny purchases that will make nothing for the remainder of this gen. Games, Games, Games ,that is all I care about. Thankfully, E3 as a whole is always great for me. There are always a tonne of great games That interest me.

Sony's game trailers were great. Really pulled me in and made me want to play those games right away. Their actual presentation though? Not really my thing. The music parts were almost Andy Kaufman like (for those old enough to remember). Almost seemed like a joke that goes too far.

Xbox on the other hand, very polished, but to me way too long. Too many games, too little info. Too much time spend on multiplats. The "star" of your show shouldn't be Cyberpunk at the end. However, MS did show that they are listening and at least got me excited for the future. Horizon is also weird. A great game, but everyone knew it was coming and it is hard to get hyped.

I don't really see a winner. Just a lot of games that are a very long way off. I didn't even see all the publisher ones.

Pretty clear winner from the poll. 57% MS.

Bethesda. It was the most entertaining and I think Fallout 76 will be monster success. I think MS did decently, but I wasn't hyped by anything exclusive they showed. Sony did pretty much what I expected too, nothing really exciting at all for me.

Similar for me. I bring up conferences because I can't stand sitting through a bad presentation. It takes away from what we are there for.

I am very interested in TLOU 2 and Days Gone from Sony. Ghosts of T looked nice, but it hardly set my hair on fire for gameplay shown so far. I actually lost some interest for SpiderMan after the presentation, and I still don't know what to think of Death Stranding despite it's nice visuals. The format was terrible and made it hard to even keep my interest.

I need to see more of that. MS had the best Show for me because they showed a ton of great games for their platform, and even Gears 5 was a pleasant surprise and looks great (after 4, I was less enthusiastic- not because it was bad, but it was just par-for-the-course). I got to see a nice little tech demo for the next Halo (tad disappointed it is taking so long), and there were a number of ID@xbox titles that caught my eye. They showed DMC 5, that From Software Samuri game (which looks great), and the Division 2. And of course, they showed Cyberpunk!

MS is a platform, and they highlighted great stuff for their platform. Forza Horizon 4 looks amazing. MS had a great showing and a very enjoyable format (outside of the Gamepass portion).

Rage 2 looks amaze-balls to me, as does JC 4 (also on MS's stage). Fallout means nothing to me, and until I see more than a logo, the same goes for Starfield. ES 6 is a very welcome announcement, but is so far away- Nothing but a logo there as well. I did not enjoy their presentation much. Too much stuff between seeing what we came for.

Ubi was boring outside of Beyond Good and Evil 2 (I was pretty surprised they showed so much in-game stuff), and the Division 2.

EA Had Anthem and BF V. I'm very interested in those.

I'd have to go with Bethesda. New Doom, Wolfenstein DLC, Rage 2, possibly Fallout 76, finally hearing about Starfield and a new Elder Scrolls, and hell even that Blades mobile game. Other than that, Microsoft had a good conference in terms of showing what they are planning on doing for the future. Outside of Crackdown 3 there isn't much for me in the near term, but beyond that it's good to see they have new studios. For Sony, conference itself was meh but the exclusive games more than made up for it especially Ghost of Tsushima.

What does it mean to win E3?

Is who has the best conference? That would be MS
Is it who showed the best games at their conference? That would be Sony
Do you have to have a conference? If not then it might be CDPR or Capcom

I get that nobody wants to sit through cringe worthy stuff or boring power point presentations.

Not much point touching the MS comments cause I think it is well known that I don't agree. I'll just say it is more of the same old Halo, Gears, Forza. Not enough.

Death Stranding is weird. I am with you, I still have no clue what to make of it.

Ghosts of Tsushima blew me away. I though the contrasting beauty of the environment coupled with the brutality of the combat was great.

Still, Off the top of my head these are the games I am looking forward to from this years E3..

Ghosts of Tsushima
Last of Us 2
Spider-Man
Forza Horizon 4
Ori 2
Battlefield 5
For Honour -- the new Monk character in the next DLC called Marching Fire makes me want to play again.
The Divison 2
Anthem
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Starfield
Fallout 76
Tomb Raider
Trials Rising
Assassins Creed Odyssey

I'm sure I am forgetting some, especially smaller titles.

Plenty there. Which means some will be put on the back-burner and bought further down the road.
