Introducing Xbox Game Pass: Unlimited Access to More Than 100 Games

image: http://news.xbox.com/wp-content/uploads/Xbox-Game-Pass_Hero-hero.jpg

At Xbox, we put gamers at the center of everything we do and remain committed to giving you the freedom to play the games you want, with the friends you want, on the devices you want. This year is shaping up to be an exciting one for gamers. As we prepare to launch Project Scorpio this holiday, bringing the most powerful console ever made to the Xbox One family of devices, we continue to make platform improvements to connect the growing community of players on Xbox Live and add to a robust and diverse portfolio of games across Xbox One and Windows 10.

Today, we’re continuing our commitment to give you more options to diversify and expand your library of games with Xbox Game Pass, a new gaming subscription service coming later this spring. Xbox Game Pass gives you unlimited access to over 100 Xbox One and backward compatible Xbox 360 games – all for $9.99 per month.

With great games from top industry publishers such as 2K, 505 Games, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, Capcom, Codemasters, Deep Silver, Focus Home Interactive, SEGA, SNK CORPORATION, THQ Nordic GmbH, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft Studios, there’s something for everyone to enjoy and you will always find something exciting to play across a variety of genres. Some of the fan-favorite titles coming to Xbox Game Pass when it launches to the broader Xbox community later this spring include Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, NBA 2K16 and SoulCalibur II.

One of the best things about Xbox Game Pass is that you can discover and download the full titles directly on your Xbox One. That means continuous, full-fidelity gameplay without having to worry about streaming, bandwidth or connectivity issues. In addition, all Xbox One games in the catalog – and related add-ons – will be available to purchase at an exclusive discount for Xbox Game Pass members, so you can make the games you love part of your permanent library to play whenever you want. Every month new games will cycle into the subscription with some cycling out, giving you a constantly-updating library of games. Xbox Game Pass is your ticket to endless play.

It’s important to us that Xbox Game Pass provides an enjoyable and seamless experience. Before the program rolls out to the broader community later this spring, we’ll be testing Xbox Game Pass with select members of the Xbox Insider Program in the Alpha Preview ring starting today with a very limited number of titles. The titles that are available in Preview are just a small glimpse at the expansive catalog of games that will be available when Xbox Game Pass launches this spring. Xbox Live Gold members will also be receiving exclusive access to Xbox Game Pass prior to the program launching to the broader community. We’ll have more details on timing closer to launch.

We hope you enjoy Xbox Game Pass and all that it has to offer. We’re looking forward to hearing the feedback from the gamers in the Xbox Insider Program and then from the rest of the Xbox community when it’s broadly available later this spring. Your feedback will make this program better for all gamers.

Thank you for your continued passion and support of Xbox.

Is this Microsoft's version of EA Access?

If you can cancel anytime, it's a great deal...especially for those who buy a Xbox for the first time this gen. Spend $20 bucks during the slowest game periods of the year and try out a bunch of games over 2 months. It'll be interesting to see which games they rotate in there.

Yeah. If you can order it by month and it has a game you think you can beat in 4 weeks it might be worth a shot here and there alright. It really all depends on how fast new games end up in there. Considering it's 120 for a year which is roughly the price of two retail games you have think it will be a while before new titles get in there.

$9.99 I was gonna say that's a bit steep compared to EA access, but considering that's one publisher and this is a dozen, it's pretty good.

All games from all of those publishers? Does it include new releases day and date or is there a blackout period?

There has to be a blackout period. Otherwise it's way too good value to be belived. 120 a year for all games on release ? That would save me a fortune if it was true.

I guess we have to wait for more info on this because that is al they are saying. But still from all 1st and 3rd parties is Damn good for $9.99.

If it was just MS only games it would have been terrible.

We'll have to wait for more details. I'm assuming this will be a big part of E3 for them. If there is a blackout, hopefully it's short, like a month, or two, at the longest.

You get a 1 free month but I can tell you that the titles are nothing we haven't seen. But then again when EA first rolled out those titles wasn't impressive as well.

This, however, is great for the new gamers that buy the Xbox and get into this program.

Well, it's still an alpha preview anyway.

I want to see how this will look a year from now.

I look at it like EA Access - something that I could spend the money on now and play all of that catalog, or wait a year or two to spend money and then play all of those games and more. I think once I get a second TV and a Scorpio and can let my younger son watch his surprise eggs videos on the regular XB1, I might be willing to move on this.

Looks to me like a great deal. But not for me right now as I have dat backlog, probably 6 new games still sitting in shrinkwrap. I have no need to add more to my plate (says the guy who just got Horizon today and Zelda coming next week). :really::txbrolleyes::laugh::crazy:

It's good to be the console that sold less than the king. Always introducing more features while the king gets complacent and doesn't upgrade their f***ing download speeds.

There's a lot of borderline titles I'd like to try out. Games like Quantum Break and Recore. I see Halo 5 and Saints Row there. If I were buying a Xbox today, I'd probably start with this Service and EA Access. I think this is a great feature to entice new Xbox owners.

Just occurred to me...this is how MS will make subscription revenue from PC gamers. They won't be able to get PC gamers to pay for XBL. PC gamers may be willing to cheat on Steam with Windows store for this service. Might be their loss leader to give the store credibility and buy in from a crowd that doesn't respect their PC store yet. I assume these games will be Play Anywhere titles. If so...huge!

Just gonna echo what has been said - this is a great deal if its anything like EA Access so long as you can cancel whenever you want and if there's a blackout period and how long on new games. Otherwise, this is good stuff. Now I just need to work on my backlog.

I would rather have a rental service where I can choose any game I want, new or old.

This pass is just gunna be full of stuff I didn't care for to begin with.

Why not combine this service and Live together? I mean, Live is $60 yr -- Make it part of the same service, give the option to purchase a Xbox [Platinum] service or something. Slap a $160 or $170 price tag on it for the year. Nothing wrong with more options. I dunno...

I would rather have new games for 1 bucks, but alas.

This is pretty good value. I just hope it's like EA access where you get early access to new games even for just an hour and a discount option for those games too. An incentive to own XGP even if you don't care for the games.

Exactly. Digital rentals are a great idea. This seems like a good offer and if you're new to Xbox and haven't played any of them it is a good offer. But other than that these are mostly games I'd never really play, even if I saw them with a big discount. For me this needs to usable by the month and have at least one title that it's worth renting out. That will probably happen as well but right now, no. Not really interested.
