Xbox One - Load the "Day One" patch offline. *Taken Down*

Dumb question: how do I know my drive is formatted in NTFS?
Most should be ntfs. Some will be fat32. Right click on in my computer once you pop it into your pc. It shouldsay it tthere somewhere in the properties

This seems like I will need a computer science degree to install. I hope it just works day one.

Each step has like 10 steps.

Wow. They should've just let people burn to a dvd and install, that'd be too simple.

Have fun with that offline only peeps.

It'd be easier to do it the way PS3 (not sure how PS4 does it) handles it. Just select update via USB.

That said, this isn't too complicated. The trickiest part is figuring out which buttons you have to hold down in the final steps.

Too many steps for my attention span. I'm like a gold fish.

There is nothing complicated about this at all. I've only a 4meg connection at home. I'll be downloading this at work tomorrow in advance of the midnight launch

I guess that 500mb update was a bit premature. These are 1.3gb.
Yeah. Big update. But the initial rumour was saying it was about one gig anyway. It was only after that guy got his console early that people thought it minght be less. At least now we can download it in advance. No big deal

Not that it really matters anyway.
No, but I thought it would be 1+ gb based on MS's own "15-20 min" words, and the fact that it's required for the console to have any functionality. I was given the usual insults, mockery, and derision. Then it turns out to be 1+ gb after all.

Agree there is nothing complicated about that. The most difficult thing is holding down the correct buttons and waiting for the beeps (and hoping the beeps come!). Would be nice if they had a GUI for this (my TV has an "update from USB" option in GUI).

Well I'll be doing this as my interwebz is crap and I'll take two hours to download that much of an update. I'll post here on how it goes

So it is 500mb more than the total of the two ps4 updates (800mb). End of the world scenario?

This will be a few minutes to download for me. I'll survive.

Adding the size of two patches released almost a week apart? Even though someone with a new system will only have to download the newest one? Also they're 300mb patches, not 400. That's rather silly, and also goalpost moving to avoid admitting I was reasonable and right and was unfairly insulted and mocked for it.

Wonder if that would help avoid any potential Live problems at launch. Might be faster too.

Yeah, keep us posted. I won't be able to hook mine up until Friday night anyway so I'm sure you'll have done it by then...u ma beta tester!!!. I'm going to DL the update just in case I decide to do it offline (though my internetz is fast).

Might be a good idea to download in case the servers get slammed on Friday and slow to a crawl (or worse)

I'm pretty sure the full update patch is 800mb for a fresh out of the package console. I thought I read it on an actual Sony website, are you telling me that is wrong?

I don't know firsthand, maybe I misread.

edit: Either way, my point was it's not a big deal. 1 whole GB. I should also mention I'll be downloading:

BF4 - 34GB
Killer Instinct - 3.3GB
Ryse - 35GB
and mayb...
NBA 2k14 - 43GB

So the 1gb is a drop in a bucket.

You better hope live is not slammed balls to the wall brother. Just one of the reasons I'm going physical for launch.

Awesome. I'm hoping I don't need to use this and just the normal process on the X1 will be smooth, but nice to know I can go to this if there is trouble.

If Live goes to hell, which is very likely to happen at some point, I'll just snag my brothers copies to install (his house is literally around the corner from me). I can do purchases via SmartGlass or on my PC to activate my copies.

I figure the earlier in the day I get my Xbone, the better chance I'll have to get my downloads in before s*** goes down.

Is anyone having trouble downloading the files?

Sorry,I didn't bother reading the comments!
