So just seeing if anyone has any thoughts on this. So my Xbox is always running in standby mode.Every day when I turn it on, it shows:

  • That I am connected to Xbox Live and the dashboard is fine, but a minute later it goes offline
  • That I am not connected to Xbox Live
In order for me to resolve this every day, I go into network settings, and connect to my wireless network again, entering in the password. Once I do that, it goes online and there are zero issues. Until the next day, and it does it all over again. I go in, find my network, enter my wifi password, and I am back up and running. It's a daily occurrence and has been going on for probably at least 6 months.

I do NOT have this issue with my PS Pro, nor any other device in my house. Anyone have any thoughts?

  • Xbox One S white with 1TB internal
  • 3TB External HDD attached
  • No Kinect
  • Not using HDMI in
  • Wireless router is about 4 feet from the Xbox One S
  • Hard wired is not an option (though I could test it at least and see if the problem persists when wired)
  • It's a newer router with 5G, but I am not choosing the 5G connection
  • I have reset the router to no avail

Do you have the Xbox set for instant on mode ?

I had a similar issue, but not 6 months long. It lasted about 2 weeks of sporadic online issues years back...... it was my router. It was dying. Replaced it and everything has been fine.

Your router is only 4ft away and you game wirelessly. Why isn't hardwired an option?

Because I would have to run the network cable across the carpet. The router and modem are above the fireplace (it's a corner fireplace with a picture hiding the hardware). I would have to run the cable down the side of the fireplace, along the carpet in front of the stairs and behind the entertainment center.

I have opted out of the preview program and I did a full reset of my Xbox and started it over from scratch. I will see if that addresses this issue.

Mine has been doing this also for about a month now. It is not my router as everything else connected to it is fine. I do a hard reset of the Xbox and then it connects.

Yup. Are you in the preview program?

Definitely could be something with an Insider build but I don't use the wireless so wouldn't know (I am an Insider). Frankly, I would never use wireless for a device that gives me a wired option and is used daily. I rent and I removed all of the RG6 wiring going to the back of my house and replaced with CAT6 (luckily, have a garage on lower level). That means that I am fully wired @ 1Gb for all gaming/streaming devices in my house including a local media server. Currently get TV to back of house through Tivo mini which is Ethernet based and probably ditching that for IP TV (Hulu Live or similar) soon so won't need cable tv at all.

If I was you, I'd either drill the holes or if you can't, find a creative way to do it. In the past, I've used white wire with white wire brackets (the nail in kind). I've also painted the wire to better match the décor, run under carpet, etc. Wireless, while convenient, is a compromise I'm not willing to make (unless there was really no other choice). Either way, good luck sir.

Mine is wired. But I have not had the issue after some console update downloaded last week. Maybe it was patched.
