Xbox One X

That's bs..They were quiet as a mouse when Forza Horizon 3 reviews came out.

Come on, they're not going to compliment Phil every time another iteration of Forza (or Halo or Gears) comes out. I think one of them complimented him on the X launch.

With global trade shows now getting new game announcements and some companies holding their own events later in the year like PSX it would seem that "winning E3" is becoming far less important than it used to be. You can win E3 showing games that aren't coming out for 2 or 3 years so how meaningful has it ever really been anyway?

Yeah, hard to say. It means a lot to gaming forums and social media for a few weeks. I'm sure that carries over into word-of-mouth and public perception, but no one could say how much.

Some E3's create big shifts, though. Think of 2013, for instance.

I think every E3 is important to Microsoft. It’s less about “winning” and more about continuing to regain consumer confidence. Just like they were important for Sony to re-establish themselves during the PS3 era. I’d say the momentum Sony kept building up in the few years leading up to 2013 mattered.

Quiet because Forza is boring bro. I mean sure it's really good but basically a tech demo. God of War came back after a long hiatus and re-invented itself.

Just saying, big difference between a racing simulator being good and making a 3d action game really good.

I couldn't give a sh!t less about Sony giving MS props for the Forza games, but Horizon 3 is far from "basically a tech demo"

Blinx: The Time Sweeper $9.99

Breakdown $9.99

Conker: Live and Reloaded $9.99

Hunter: The Reckoning $14.99

Jade Empire $9.99

Morrowind $14.99

Panzer Dragoon Orta $9.99

SSX 3 $9.99

These games are available now to buy and will be available to play on the 17th. It's exciting, like we're getting 20+ remasters to chose from in a month.

Definitely getting Morrowind, Jade Empire, and Conker. Breakdown was a super underrated gem, I still have the hardcopy.

Damn, I enjoyed H:TR back in the day, who knows if it'll hold up, but $15 is crazy...

Lemme get this straight....

Forza Horizon 3:
-boring
-racing simulator
-basically a tech demo

Yeah when it comes to hardware announcements like pricing and release date that are received positively that does matter just like when you announce a price that people find unacceptable it impacts you in a negative way.

You legit think a top tier racer and action game are on the same level when it comes to scope, controls, narrative, and more?

I mean I freaking LOVE Hydro Thunder but if you asked me how good it is compared to Halo 3 I'd be like lol no comparison.

What on earth are you talking about? We were talking about Spencer congratulating Sony and somehow we're now talking about narrative?

When you're not being condensing and the resident "battle royal expert", could you at least follow the thread of the conversation.

Battle Royal Expert? What the hell does that even mean? Are you confusing me with another poster?

As far as the flow of conversion I'm simply giving my opinion that not all genre's are comparable. If you guys disagree than fine but IMO a game like Witcher 3 and all it's DLC stacked next to a racing game is just no comparison. IMO it's a greater "achievement" to release a 10/10 action game or RPG (like Mass Effect) than it is to release a 10/10 racing game.

Does that mean racing games suck? Of course not, but in terms of genre's that are over-saturated you have to admit there is Forza and GT and.....Project Cars? Don't you kinda already know Forza and all it's sequels are going to be awesome? I mean how could they really screw it up? How much is really on the line and how much of the formula can they really risk changing?

God of War being as good as it reportedly is, after so many sequels, changing the gameplay, and completely changing the mythology setting....is an achievement. It's worth a congratulations. Forza is Forza...congrats on making Forza 7...8.....9 and the rest really not unexpectedly good racers.

Oh dang. You are right. I did confuse you for someone else. I apologize.

To be fair, forza horizon is not like all these other racers you mentioned. It changed the game up significantly in its own right. I agree with what you're saying though.

I think Microsoft has been a little unlucky too with games that should have been interesting single player experiences, but fell short for various reasons.

I mean look at Sunset Overdrive vs. Spiderman. They don't always get a studios best work.

Not that SO wasnt good or Spiderman is a guaranteed hit. It just seems like there's a different level of effort or focus.

To be fair, Spider-Man wouldn't be what it's become without lessons learned from Their previous work on SO.

Agree to a point. Same thing with Scalebound, Ryse and even Halo 5’s campaign. Investment has reduced recently but it was there early and it didn’t result in the best returns. When it happens once or twice, it’s unlucky. When it looks like a pattern, there’s something they’re doing wrong from the top.

That’s why I like their most recent hire. Having a guy who’s overseen Hitman and Tomb Raider...where the teams have taken existing IPs in directions successfully is exactly what Xbox needs.

I think it's very underestimated how just how difficult it is to actually nail something the way that resonates with enough people. Sony certainly seems to have people in their employ that "get it", but acting like MS isn't trying to do it is silly.

They have made quite a few good/very good games this gen, they just haven't managed anything that stands out (though Halo 5 now being 60fps, as well as the new control scheme and MP is pretty great, IMO).

I agree it’s difficult. There are people out there who’ve had success running studios and projects that get it. I don’t think Microsoft has had enough of those people. I like that they’re hiring them now.

Sony's BIG games are SP story driven, be they 1st party or 3rd party exclusive's.
MS's are mostly all about getting loot boxes into them and ultimately spoiling those games i.e. Forza, Gears, Halo.... I just hope they don't ruin Horizon/Crackdown by going down the same route.

Microsoft’s games also tend to have more longevity. Also I’ve never messed with loot boxes in games and couldn’t even tell you what they look like.

Halo and Gears have been ruined by mediocre campaigns more than anything imo.

What's up with every Xbox thread i've gone into today after not posting for days has Xbox fans seemingly panicking? I'm sure it will be okay guys, just wait until E3. And even if Microsoft doesn't deliver again oh well.. they're a multi billion dollar company. The show will go on.
