Xbox One X

Are they any good?

Outside of a tiny-tiny bit of FF XI, XII, and XV (like not enough to judge), I haven't played through a Final Fantasy game since FF VIII; so I'm not sure though this is cheap enough for me to jump in and find out.

My Xbox One X is in the 'shop' or on the way to the 'shop' for a repair or replacement....PS Edition was playing RDR2 yesterday and it sounded like it was going to take off.

So I am now without Xbox for a few days :(

So I just tore down my Xbox One X because I was getting a loud fan at times and it was reproduceable. For instance Black Ops 4 sitting at the main menu made my fans kick into overdrive, same for when playing RDR2, and sitting on the community menu of SoD2.

I tore the system apart to find the thermal paste was totally dried out almost like rubber. I replaced it with Noctua Thermal paste and now it is nearly completely silent like at launch, if you have loud fans even sometimes, something is NOT right.

Been playing a lot of games where I would normally hear the fans rev up to audible levels ( I sit about 6-7 feet away from my TV) and I hear absolutely nothing. I put my ear up to the console with the TV muted and hear almost about nothing. It's amazing how quiet this machine is when, you know...... the thermal compound isn't dried out and is doing its job and efficiently transferring heat to the heat sink.

Batman: Arkham Collection Releasing Next Week, Includes Xbox One X Enhanced Support – Rumour

A listing for Rocksteady’s original trilogy was recently spotted on the Xbox Store.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment may be releasing another Batman Arkham compilation in the near future. By “near future”, we mean by November 27th – TrueAchievements reportedly spotted a listing for Batman: Arkham Collection on the Xbox Store. It includes remastered versions of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City along with Batman: Arkham Knight.

Though the listing has been pulled, its official summary indicated that the collection would include all post-launch content from each game. Take this with some grain of salt but considering that Warner Bros. has yet to release a compilation of Rocksteady’s original trilogy, it could be true. The listing also indicated that Xbox One X Enhanced support was included.

None of the games officially support 4K or HDR so this would be a good way to introduce these features. Pricing is also unknown at this point so if an official announcement is coming, expect to hear more tomorrow. In the mean time, Rocksteady is busy with a new, unannounced project that’s been the subject of many rumours.

So Xbox support just told me it's 2 weeks for return when it's been processed into the repair centre... Ffs

Should have repasted it like I did to mine. Takes about 20 minutes start to finish. It's now nearly silent under the same conditions that it sounded like a jet in.

With a set of precision tweezers you can get the warranty sticker off totally undamaged.

I thought you were now given the ok to do so, the right to remove said sticker and or repair it yourself... I think there’s a thread here somewhere, I’m to lazy to do the search and I should be in

Makes me wonder if the X is selling so well, would MS and Sony be more inclined to really have a powerful next gen whilst match the price, 499

Yeah, I kind of feel that $500 might be a reasonable price for a next-gen console. $600 is too much, but $500 might be do-able, for the higher-end units. That's especially true for MS, who looks to be offering two different versions, a low-end and a high-end one. I know Sony won't go anywhere near $600, but they could conceivably stretch to $500 ... although their success at the $400 price point (and their failure with PS3) makes me wonder if they'd hesitate to bump the price up that high.

I doubt that and i wouldn't chance it.

Now when the warranty runs out...

And...

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo...turns-out-feds-say-those-warnings-are-illegal

The agency said it had "sent warning letters to six major companies that market and sell automobiles, cellular devices, and video gaming systems in the United States." The FTC's announcement did not identify the companies by name.

But, as Ars Technica points out, the sample language listed in the FTC statement matches the terms found on several companies' websites. And the media outlet felt no compunction naming names:

"Nintendo's warranty states that 'this warranty shall not apply if this product is used with products not sold or licensed by Nintendo.'

"Sony's warranty states that 'this warranty does not apply if this product ... has had the warranty seal on the PS4™ system altered, defaced, and removed.' "

The FTC has given the six companies it contacted 30 days to correct any potential violations on their websites. If at the end of the month those violations persist, they "may result in law enforcement action."

And in the meantime, have no fear the next time you see one of those stickers: Know that when you peel away, the law's got your back.

How much other stuff has to be removed after getting the case apart?
