Xbox One X

I won't be getting an X until after the new year most likely. But I can't wait to read/hear/see impressions and media.

Textures are definitely better on the One X version but that's expected with the extra memory, sadly even the improved textures in some spots still look a little blah but that's on the dev not the hardware as they are using the best PC textures from the sound of it and hell SOME of the textures on the other consoles look awful.

Higher LOD too

Yeah, thankfully both updated consoles have that as an option over just higher resolution modes. It looks like the One X improves on LOD a little more than the Pro, then again some of that could just be a by-product of having better textures to begin with. I watched the video earlier, don't remember them actually showing LOD pop in comparisons between the two consoles just the better looking stuff in the distance. I think the Pro to standard PS4 video they made showed the LOD difference between those two consoles and it was pretty big. I don't know why anyone would go with the resolution mode on either console when you still get a high resolution (significantly above 1080p) and better LOD on the quality modes.

It's too bad even the One X can dip below 30 fps in very rare cases, I doubt that'll get ironed out simply because that looks like something that's taxing the CPU, they should just cut down on the number of enemies on screen a little. I doubt we'd really notice a small reduction in enemies when there are so many on screen, it would help keep the framerate smooth, thankfully there only seems to be one area that causes dips to begin with but it just seems like an easy fix if they are willing to sacrifice the size of the crowd just a little bit.

I wasn't talking pop in. The vid was showing more geometry in distant objects. The textures seem to provide the largest differences, though. It's cool that the quality setting still runs higher than the Pro's high resolution mode. Looking forward to viewing this monster on my set!

The fact the DF highlighted that area of performance and they also said they'd come back and retest it doesn't hurt it being fixed. I think the best solution is in the dynamic resolution mode, even if it has to drop to 1440p or whatever for a few moments who cares.

Yeah I mostly think of pop in when talking LOD, with higher quality textures everything should look better. I don't know if you saw the PS4 Pro vs PS4 video but the LOD pop in was much more evident when going with the resolution mode vs the quality mode, everything was better looking at a greater distance when playing in quality mode.

Pretty sure the wire coming into your home that you downloaded the Xbox One X through is pretty gaping right now. Might want to work on tightening up that hole. :hehe:

I turned my bone on and it read 'Would you like to update your console?' I clicked yes and now its an Xbox One X!!!

Yeah, I saw that one. I love having the options. I like how these quality modes offer us better visuals along with a res bump, even if it's not full 4k. Having shadows draw further out is huge for me.

The extra memory is the most underrated aspect of the X specs. That’s where the X will show the largest advantage over the Pro...not the GPU. It’s where the OG Xbox One struggled.

These "feel true power" ads are silly. It's a powerful box but wow that's corny.

Corny is fine. Marketing needs to send a clear message that shapes the brand. Right now they’re marketing power. Trying to make the market feel like power matters. Only showing the higher end graphics. It’s what they should do.

I guess it works on some people, its super cringe in a 1990s sort of way.

All ads corny now days and I've accepted not getting another creative ad from MS/Sony or Nintendo as those ads tend to get banned.
