Thanks, Sony! I won't be replacing it. Wifi still works, but that means multiplayer is completely useless on my PS4. It seems as if this is not an uncommon problem and due to poor soldering. SMH.

Ouch. I can't game on Wi-Fi. That's balls. This is what happens when the Chinese assemble your product.

f*** PS4. Get a PS Pro now :)

I play a bit online (FIFA, Forza, Rocket League) and have both PS4 and X1 set up via Wi-Fi. Now I do get sizzling speeds for both up and down (100 mbs down/20 up) but I have never heard of being at some sort of disadvantage online playing.

Please tell me this just pertains to shooters, which I don't play, or I am going to be totally sussed about playing online anymore. Not that I do poorly but still.

Oh yeah, not to thread trample but you should get a free console from Sony considering this website. It never hurts to ask. Tell them your story and how it will affect future video game articles to not have a working console. Maybe they will trade in your old for a new.

Anything that's twitch, i.e. shooters. I'll reach out to Sony. Thus far, Microsoft has not responded to any inquiries for games to review, etc. Maybe Sony will be more receptive?

Yes, you definitely should try. Hit them with some of your website stats which I'm sure are above average for the myriad of video gaming sites.

One thing I've learned in life is it never hurts to ask. But ask in a way where the receiver feels they are getting value. This really goes for anything in life, your goal should be to provide at least 51% of the value in a relationship whether it's your mate, friend, customer, etc. #freelifehackfromObs

As long as you have good signal strength and no packet loss it's not really that noticeable . I play wired at my house because my router is right beside my desk and of course The competitive shooter junkie in me is always looking for a slight advantage.

But I uploaded a gameplay video of black ops three on here about eight months ago and that was at my girlfriends house playing on her sons PlayStation four, on a Wi-Fi connection and went like 50 and 4 . Lol. However that was against random pub players so I really didn't have to try too hard . On the network test her router was performing at 50 down and 25 up .

My Verizon fios fiber connection at my house always performs at 150 up and 150 down . 79.99 a month baby . I Have a ethernet cat 6 cable run from the box outside directly my router . (Most Internet connections are shared on the same single coax cable with your TV and Internet) my internet connection is separate from my tv connection. (Another perk for using Verizon fios )We hardcore players take shooters seriously . Lol! But to be honest the biggest benefit is really fast game downloads when you buy digital.

Oh wow, Entreri, you have a really great network to game on. I can't say mine is fast anymore, lol.

I don't understand all the tech but aren't games standardized for speed by the host (whether it be p2p or server-based) and as long as your speed can equal/exceed their speed setting then you are going to be playing at maximum speed? Is there a standard overall dl/ul speed for most games? I know the speeds can fluctuate so I guess having extra juice in the pipeline would help your side of the game ever having to worry about dipping below and keep you pretty much lag-free and without packet loss (<---me trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about, lol).

I guess this is more important for PC gamers than console gamers? And for most of us who don't game competitively it may just mean a couple more deaths than usual but for the most part, as in your example, skill is the commanding overall aspect of how well you will fair in an online match.

Yours is the first time I've ever heard of it happening. Did you plug/unplug it a lot?

The only thing I've ever heard happening is the HDMI port getting damaged somehow while plugging in the cable.

Hasn't been touched pretty much since I got it. It's an issue others have had. Worked fine this past weekend when I played Dark Souls III.

Wifi is never as good as wired. I notice a huge difference as in the summer I have to move my TV into a room with a/c and go wireless. FPS games are noticeably different.

The problem is that a wireless connection can be fine, but it is never going to be as consistent.

I'd definitely pick up some sort of replacement or a Pro. I went two console recently partially because of your great article on it and I love it. Uncharted, Gears, Forza, whatever it is I can play it. (except PC only of course)

This sux... maybe Sony will fix it for free?
FYI
Wi-Fi isn't that good in normal ps4's but with Pro it supports 5 GHz.

I've never heard that mentioned before. Crazy they don't advertise unless they fear it would just piss off all the regular PS4 users that they are getting screwed in online matches.

Does different versions of the X1 also have varying online connection speeds?

I had normal XBD's and they connected @ 5GHZ wifi.

Easy fix. Trade it in to Gamestop for $125 cash and buy the same one on craigslist for $125 or less.

My Xbox One S and PS Pro are all running over Wifi without any issues.

Ethernet port, lol. Been multiplayer gaming on wi-fi for awhile now and still dominating.

Then again, i have nobody to blame but myself when lag hits. Don't really feel the need to go full try hard with a wired connection and monitor. Gotta give 'em a chance.
