I can't remember which magazine it was, although I'm 90% sure it was EGM, but they would have a little reviewer/editor section placed right before the reviews, that listed off each writers game preferences. I thought it was a great way to provide context for the subsequent section. In an attempt to get to get to know the fine folks at this community, I present to you eight questions...

1. What is your favorite game of all time? (I realize this is impossible to answer for most of us. Just do your best.)

2. What is the best game of all time? (Yes...I'm following up an impossible question with an even more difficult question.)

3. What genre or type of game appeals to you most? The more specific the better.

4. Your controversial gaming opinion?

5. The game you feel is most underappreciated? (All time/This Gen)

6. Favorite game mechanic.

7. What are you most looking forward to in this industry?

8. Your most hated game?

Once enough people fill this out, I'll attempt to group participants in a way that is both interesting and funny. I will most likely not be successful in doing so.

1. Halo: CE, although like most of you there's six or seven games that could fill this spot on any given day.

2. Dota 2

3. Competitive online multiplayer where teamwork and downtime is a thing.

4. I find gamers to generally be an entitled and whiney lot. God forbid a developer tries to make more than $60.00 on each copy sold of a game they spent 4 years and 70 million dollars to make.

5. All time, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. This gen, Gran Turismo Sport

6. Stealth

7. E3. Every year I have hope that the next one is the one that's going to have my dream game. I have yet to be wholly disappointed and yet, I can't wait for this years E3!

8. All 18 Uncharted games.

But I'll answer the first few.

1) What is your favorite game of all time? (I realize this is impossible to answer for most of us. Just do your best.)

Morrowind.

2) What is the best game of all time? (Yes...I'm following up an impossible question with an even more difficult question.)

Skyrim.

3) What genre or type of game appeals to you most? The more specific the better.

RPG. Also, story or character-driven action/adventure games.

1. CoD World at War
2. CoD WaW
3. WWII shooters
4. CoD WaW is the best CoD game in the series
5. CoD WaW is the most underappreciated CoD game in the series
6. Camping in maps protected by bouncing betties, mowing people down with a DP-28 and getting a w/l ratio of 2.10 and k/d ratio of 3.40, and getting sore losers sending me messages
7. CoD WWII and more old era shooters
8. CoD WaW... when you start a match getting tossed into a modded lobby with people flying and can't be killed

On a more serious note....

1. CoD WaW

2. NHL series on Genesis. Crude by today's standards, but back then it had the perfect blend of visuals, gameplay, stats, and playing against people on the couch

3. Military shooters, followed by open world Bethesda-like RPGs

4. Nintendo would be a more successful company if they skipped hardware and sold their games on all other platforms. The amount of sales and profits they would make solely through software would be astronomical

5. Ultima Underworld 1/2, followed by Intellivision games Super Pro Basketball and Chip Shot Golf. UU games were too advanced for the time and most people's PCs couldn't run them smoothly. And almost nobody played these Intelly games which had more depth than any console basketball/golf game at the time

6. Camping in shooters. 90% of gamers run around and have no patience. The worst thing is running into a team of good snipers who do it back at you

7. Console gaming having BC and finally giving gamers some visual/performance settings. Even just 2-3 choices is good enough as the hardware is locked

8. Not any game in particular, but Japanese games as a whole. Might have been fine during the 8 and 16 bit days when everything was crudely drawn anyway, and hardware was better suited for slow paced turn based JRPGs, but the art style is laughable and some reason you just don't get the variety or realism like Western/Euro made games. It's weird because you'll have a game like GT which does well and is a racer with real cars, tracks, and gear tweaking, but then almost every other kind of game is anime and bubbly.

I remember renting FF7 on PS1 and couldn't believe how dumb the game was. Endless unskippable cutscenes, monotonous battles (I kept spamming this summon every battle), monster encounters popping up out of nowhere like some Apple RPG in 1986, etc....

1. Battlefield 2 (PC)

2. Battlefidld 2, Gran Turismo 2, Super Mario Bros, Ninja Gaiden Black.

3. Sim Racers & Third Person Action

4. Uncharted sucks!

5. This gen: For Honour.

6. Grusome finishers

7. Next-Gen

8. I don't really hate any game, plenty I don't like. I will answer this with a different question, what is the game I'm most disappointed with this gen? Destiny 2: It could have been amazeballs but Bungie simply ruined all the good stuff from D1.

1. Bioshock Infinite, I guess.
2. Deus Ex (the original).
3. Role playing games where you actually make choices that actually matter.
4. Grand Theft Auto... meh.
5. Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.
6. Turn based combat.
7. The rebound from the great collapse of 2019.
8. Call of Donkey: Infinite Mindlessness.

1. What is your favorite game of all time? Mike Tyson's Punch-Out

2. What is the best game of all time? The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

3. What genre or type of game appeals to you most? Fighting games

4. Your controversial gaming opinion? No exclusives. All games universal.

5. The game you feel is most under appreciated? All time: Karate Champ - This Gen: Allumette. Not a game, but a display of the amazing possibilities of VR.

6. Favorite game mechanic. Shoryuken

7. What are you most looking forward to in this industry? VR/AR immersion

8. Your most hated game? Anything turn-based. Not really hate, but the most boring.

Alright! Some interesting responses thus far. This place is loaded with sick ****s! Once the thread settles to page 2 I'll be able to classify and diagnose you people. To science!!

8. Your most hated game?

1) Battlefield 1942. I sunk countless hours into that game. Has to be my most played game ever.

2) Maybe Half Life 2? That's an impossible question obviously.

3) Multiplayer FPS games.

4) The console wars are stupid and gamers tend to have way too much drama for something that's supposed to be fun.

5) Xcom 2

6) Turn based shooters (see #5).

7) Time to play all these great games.

8 Lately anything EA Sports just makes me rage. They've really done so little to move these games forward this gen.

1. What is your favorite game of all time?

I'll go with Halo CE, Read Dead Redemption, and The Witcher 3... and Skyrim...

2. What is the best game of all time?

Dang... Skyrim?

3. What genre or type of game appeals to you most? The more specific the better.

Action RPGs

4. Your controversial gaming opinion?

It's okay to have sexy characters.

5. The game you feel is most underappreciated? (All time/This Gen)

Just Cause 3 and MAD Max!

6. Favorite game mechanic.

High mobility (killing footsoldiers while bounding about in Titan Fall 2 is teh sex) and stealth.

7. What are you most looking forward to in this industry?

VR.

8. Your most hated game?

Whatever it is, it must have scarred itself out of my memory... though COD comes close ;)... ooh! Roblox! My son won't. Shut. Up. About it...

You're in for a treat, nothing but ball gags and clown porn for our B'bama.

24/7....

1. What is your favorite game of all time? (I realize this is impossible to answer for most of us. Just do your best.)
Tough. Reaaaally tough. For me I'd have to say Metal Gear Solid 1 if I had to choose one. The one game that was so memorable I have it itched in my head after decades still. I remember almost every level of the game because I must have finished it about 20 times +. At the time there was nothing like it for me on story, gameplay and soundtrack level.

2. What is the best game of all time? (Yes...I'm following up an impossible question with an even more difficult question.)
I dunno, man!. For this it should be a game that changed gaming in a big way. Half-Life 2 comes to mind for me.

3. What genre or type of game appeals to you most? The more specific the better.
Action adventure (be it TPS or FPS), RPG, Racing (Sports I guess?) and then Platforming. I also enjoy sports games but definitely don't play em as much. Strategy is good but very rare for a RTS to catch my attention for long.

4. Your controversial gaming opinion?
i think we're slowly moving towards a Multiplayer only future which is disappointing. I think a game NEEDS to have a Single Player mode as mandatory because I think it's something that we'll all miss in the future.

5. The game you feel is most underappreciated? (All time/This Gen)
Hard off the top of my head. I'm thinking Motorstorm because that game had the visuals, fun ass physics and overall just had a lot of formula's right (MS3 sucked tho)

6. Favorite game mechanic.
Dunno if this counts as Mechanic but the most thing I appreciate in games are the small details. GTA V for example, there are areas in the city where a gamer might never set foot in regardless of how many hours he played and you can bet every allyway, every corner has tiny ass details all over. I love companies like Rockstar because they are anal when it comes to small details. That stuff is what brings games to life IMO and usually is taken for granted by the average gamer.

7. What are you most looking forward to in this industry?
Starcitizen. This game has the potential to change gaming forever IMO. The freedom it will provide and the details. It is a true Next generation game in the works.
8. Your most hated game?

Black ops 2 because the series went to poop shortly afterwards.

1. Dying Light

2. Splintercell

3. Sandbox style action/adventure first person shooter with some RPG elements

4. Bad Company 2: Vietnam is the best multiplayer shooter ever made

5. Metro 2033

6. Super accurate hit detection/dismemberment and physics. So when you shoot someone they react to getting hit in that specific spot, and bladed weapons remove body part at the exact point and angle you hit.

7. Holodeck

8. Final Fantasy

Some of these are tough to answer.

1. Top favorites in no order. COD Modern Warfare, Star Wars KOTOR, Final Fantasy Tactics, GTA3, Rainbow Six 3.

2. Best games ever I’ve played in no order FF7, Zelda OOT, Diablo 2, Fallout 3, COD Modern Warfare.

3. I’m a FPS (online) and RPG kind of guy.

4. I’m ok with games going more “online” now days. I would say more than 50% of my gaming has shifted to online play in the last few years.

5. From recent memory I thought Operation Darkness was a very good strategy/RPG. I had a lot of fun with that game.

6. I love all the detail in games now days. You really feel like you’re in these game worlds and they’re alive.

7. Sports games have not taken the leap I expected in this new gen and the reason I don’t play sports games as much as I did. Looking forward to seeing the next evolution in sports games.

8. I hated the futuristic COD’s it was a long wait for them to finally go back to boots on the ground.

Ok, you can just keep your opinion to yourself if this wasn't as entertaining as you thought it would be. It took me one full Law and Order episode to write this out. I am not proud of that...

Happy Black Friday everyone?!

I don't want to date anyone here.

No offense, guys.

Yeah, i'm just going to go with this and leave it at that. I already have multiple voices in my head, having to listen to anyone else would be overkill for my psyche. Me, myself, and TD. Forever alone.
