Killzone: Shadow Fall Thread

Yup, it sucks but for whatever reason Killzone hasn't caught on like the other big budget shooters. Oh well, i can enjoy it if there's at least enough people to start a match with. That's all that matters to me. I don't get it though. Is it the game or the platform turning people away? I tend to believe that if Killzone was on the other console it would be more popular.
I'll take a guess and people prefer KZ for the SP, while people prefer CoD/BF for the MP. So all of them can sell a ton of copies, but CoD/BF will have longer lasting online communities.

Yeah, that's kinda how i am with it. Killzone has an epic single player campaign. Not the best story but it's fun with gorgeous graphics. Call of Duty and Battlefield have the better multiplayer. All i know is it's nice having options. That's why i buy all the consoles.

A reason I think KZ's MP has never come close to Halo, CoD, BF is because of numerous reasons....

- Halo has a legacy of SP, story and classic MP. It still has the old school bright colours and sci-fi
- CoD and BF are modern military. The hot setting. One is fast paced with small maps, the other is large scale with vehicles. Both try to be gritty
- KZ goes for the darker, sci-fi setting. It doesn't have anything that really makes it stand out. Gears was a dark shooter too, but it was third person, had cover, and tons of chainsawing blood splatter

So it shows that sci-fi and modern military can both be successful. But something needs to stand out aside from setting.

I'd also add that the PS3 wasn't doing that well when Killzone was really getting its hype. That console just isn't known for long lasting addictive multiplayer shooters. Resistance didn't get the job done either. Plus Killzone's controls weren't very well liked and the DS3 controller wasn't as good as the 360 pad for shooters.

But hey, the PS4 is a new chapter. We'll see what happens. Much improved DS4 controller and already a great fan base just waiting for the next big thing. Maybe Killzone will catch on with the PS crowd or Sony will stumble upon the next big thing. It's going to be hard to take attention away from Titanfall and Halo 5 though.

Three months in and still no news on the co-op mode, da fuk. :smash:

They should show something. It's why I think Season Passes are ridiculous. Why pay up front for something you haven't even seen? That's some serious good faith.

I'd say hold off and wait for a price cut before buying KZ, the game is worth owning just for it's looks but the campaign is uneven with some parts being really good and others being disappointing.

Until Thief comes out in about 2 weeks i really have nothing to play. Is KZ:SF worth it just for the story playthrough? not really interested in MP ...

If you can find it for 40 dollars or less, I'd say go for it. Single-player is of decent length, and you can always mess around with Botzone.

And to add to what Blue said, even after you complete the single player. There are alternate paths in the levels that you might not have noticed. I've replayed it a few times and keep finding new places to explore while looking for the collectibles.

And because of your avatar and like of thief, you may enjoy this games campaign as you are expected to sneak around more than actively gun fight.

Killzone Shadow Fall is really becoming boring to me. Now it isn't the gameplay that is doing this, it is the players available in the multiplayer. People this far into the release still do not know how to play the game. It is frustrating to be on top of team and I am doing terrible. Hiding away from the engagements, staying in clumps so people can get easy multi kills with grenades. A lack of use of their abilities, primary; Scouts not using Tactical Echo and Support not resurrecting people. That should be their priority, you see a cross on your HUD, pick up the target. If you realize your team is entrenched and you need to identify threats, use tactical echo.

Ahh.. The maps are too small, they encourage spawn camping and the people actually fall for it. Prime example is the map "The Park" which people will fight over this small room that connects both sides of the map. It is one of the dumbest things that I have seen and it keeps repeating itself. Bleh.

The new maps are coming in March with another update, 1.10 coming sometime in the next few weeks to fix some more issues and re-balance the game further. The new maps may be coming but there are only 2 of them. Two.

Killzone SF already struggles against CODGhosts and BF4. When Titanfall drops, for those users of both consoles, it is going to see another dip. Step up your game GG, and get out the content you announced prior to launch. This is taking way too long. Ghosts and BF4 have both already seen content updates and all we're getting is bulls*** that should have been included in the game.

*mic drop*

Why are we not hooking up? My crack addiction, Titanfall, is done tomorrow with the end of the beta. I am getting back onto KZ after that. This weekend I can rock with ya???!?

As we gear up for our first FREE map update, all Playstation® 4 players will be able to download and play KILLZONETM SHADOW FALL multiplayer for a week, beginning 5PM PST on the 3rd of March.**

Very cool.

For me personally, Killzone needs to do something with it's MP to make it stand out a bit more. It has a great foundation, but it all just feels a bit generic to me. That said, I'd rather play it over CoD any day.

I noticed it didn't look good and all that jazz. Seriously, looked bad IMO upon loading it up. Doesn't help that I really hate that metallic over blown look as well. I say it matters overall but texture quality and how they implement shaders matters more.

Flynn and Intelli keeping the Sony news flowing.

But I wouldn't expect any of the locals to post this news though.

Kind of messed up by Sony and DF.

Someone has to do something about the sales differential between the two ;) ah, just joking.

KZ mp does look like ass.

960x1080 is news to me. When I played it, it looked good to me.

Exactly.

It ran at HALF resolution, and because no one knew - they thought it looked great.

"Resolutiongate" needs to end. It just doesn't matter.

Dat interlacing upscaler.

It's funny, but if it took 4 months for anyone to notice does it matter?

Something always looks great as long as there is nothing to compare it to though.

Resolutiongate is there because there is disparity. If the Xbox One could output everything the same as the PS4, everything would be fine and dandy and Xbox and PS fans could hug, kiss and sing Kumbaya.

That isn't true. A lot of people thought it looked ho hum, not sure why you guys are trying to turn this into all or nothing though. A lot of people could and did state the differences all over the net... no reason to twist to suit arguments here....

I only played around on two maps though just to see how it looked and felt, I never went back to it after that honestly. First reason was, this looks quite bad.... if you really think no one could notice it or didn't then oh well I guess. I didn't know it was from the resolution I admit, but seeing how it did look a lot worse compartively... only makes me hope for better IQ, less effects and decent resolutions in some games.

If anything, this makes resolution gate more important because it obviously looks a lot worse than single player.
