I never realized it was canned in the first place.
I already use a video projector, I wouldve really liked this tech over kinect (which i have no interest in). But I think the cost factor would prevent them from releasing at the consumer level.
Agree. Not happening. It's the stepping stone project for Fortaleza.
It requires Kinect, however the Kinect needs to be positioned with the projector facing the TV. So lucky you if you got the X1 and Illumiroom because you'd have 2 (two) Kinects.
Support for a likely $300 peripheral is cheap?I know an extremely cheap way for MS games to give an even better level of immersion. Officially support the Oculus Rift.
Well it's certainly cheaper than over a thousand or thousands for the Illumiroom.Support for a likely $300 peripheral is cheap?
Well yeah lol, but I thought illumiroom wasn't going to be available for consumers?Well it's certainly cheaper than over a thousand or thousands for the Illumiroom.

Sorry I misconstrued your statement of cheap as cheap for the consumer instead of cheap for Microsoft, my bad. They aren't manufacturing the hardware or developing games for it though. That's like saying supporting HDMI is really expensive because TVs can cost $5000. All they have to do is add support for it to be recognized as in input device and video output. Then any game that gets developed for the Rift would be supported on xbox one. The risk is extremely low and reward could be very high.
I agree, I heard that the PS4 might support the OR, if X1 did too then it would be great, more 3rd party companies are likely to make games that are multiplat than invest in games that only one platform would get (providing they are not being paid to be exclusive)Ahh, I see. No worries. I'd really like to see rift support for the xbox one and just think MS supporting it would be a win/win. They could get a ton of extra sales on XBLA for people wanting different cheap VR experiences.
