Defender Titan is good in every mode in PVP but AMAZING for control. I pop my shield and stand on the point and if they walk in I punch them to death since I have an extra layer of health because of it. I have taken down up to 6 people with melee this way.

Still the worst class by far in Crucible.

I'm glad they didn't make the level cap high. What would you want, 20 more levels of the same old missions over and over? They need more end game content, and I think that's where they are going. No need to turn this game into an endless grind.

Also don't forget when it comes to longevity, you can play through as each class. Not that they are wildly different, but still should vary enough to be fun (too bad the story doesn't change per class).

...they've promised lots of updates and support to keep it going.

I'm extremely skeptical when a publisher says this before they release their game. It sounds great to people who are thinking about buying it but let's face it, they're only going to support it post launch as long as it makes financial sense.

It'll be interesting to see if the player base is there after the holidays especially considering how disappointingly it was reviewed.

Reviews are one thing. Sales are another more tangible thing. They've gotten a good launch and want a ten year game. There is no reason to think they will not follow through.

Not really.

If there isn't a significant player base a few months down the road, then it does Bungie/Activision no good to try to appease an insignificant player base.

Money and time would be better spent making sure Destiny 2 is everything it needs to be rather than sinking resources into a wasteland of a game.

They have no plans to support this game for ten years. It's a 10 year plan to build and grow this franchise.

Big difference.

anyone having connection problems?? it happens everytime i play MANY times, i get disconnected from destiny servers.. kicks me off in the middle of a campaign mission ITS SO f***ING ANNOYING

I got disconnected once last week, not sure why. Otherwise, smooth sailing.

Nope because of the higher level the more abilities someone has attached to their gear. That is called unbalance.

Nope.

Personally, I think the level cap needs to be raised. Bungie will most likely handle that through the expansions though.

Well it depends on what you consider significant player base. The player base might end up being disappointing but I suspect it will be big enough to justify support. Plus if they still plan a major expansion before the sequel then they don't have much of a choice but to keep building on the game.

Not sure why they need to make a Destiny 2. The graphics are good now and next gen consoles aren't going anywhere for a long time. Why not just keep building on the current version like most MMOs?

The biggest complaints people have seem to be lack of stuff to do, and that's obviously easy to fix without building a whole new game.

You said:

Where did you get that from. You are stating it as a fact. The rest of us would like to know where you got this morsel of fact.

So your that crazy hobo on the street who tells me that Franklin D Roosevelt was actually a member of the Nazi party and says "Prove that he wasn't" in a "Gotcha!" kind of way?

I have to prove that your absurd idea is false? I don't think it works like that. Since you somehow believe that something bizarre is going on, I think the onus is on you to prove that Bungie/Activision actually said what you think they did.

What kind of world are you living in? How many games even last ten years? W the actual F?!

Take a look at Activision/Bungies agreement. They didn't partner up to do anything remotely close to that.

I also think it's painfully clear that this games backbone was built on the PS3/360 and brought over to new gen consoles late in the development cycle. Heck, the core gameplay is basically a clone of the original Halo, which came out 13 years ago.

If Bungie and Activision are hanging their hat on this game (they aren't) it's going to be a long road of closures and layoffs with these two giants in the industry.

Not this exact exact game no, but the franchise, yes. Get hung up on the average reviews all you want, this is a massively successful In launch, has the backing of one of the biggest publishers in the business, and apparently has already made 500 million. If your trying to suggest it will be dead by January because of reviews, I have to say you're 100% wrong.

Guild Wars 2 is the closest to what Destiny is. If they have the "hooks" in this game to create new events, new missions, etc. Then they can continue to build on their initial base. This is partially an MMO and they do have a long life.

They have stated the plan for a long life cycle (10 years). Can they do it? Sure. Will they? Time will tell.

If they don't live up to that statement, it could hurt them.

I haven't claimed anything. So I have nothing to prove. I never said the game WAS going to be supported by Bungie for 10 years. I also never said it wasn't going to be supported by Bungie for 10 years.

YOU, and ONLY YOU claimed that Bungie "has no plans to support the game for 10 years"

The onus is CLEARLY, and OBVIOUSLY on you. We all wait with anticipation as to where you dredged up these facts from. We were not aware of this, and are excited that you brought this to our attention.

Anytime you find time, let us know.

Scroll up.

I clearly responded to someone who referred to Destiny as a ten year game.

Your response suggested to me that you might agree with this person's sentiment.

Destiny won't be a ten year game because ten year games don't exist and Bungie and Activisions agreement point to not supporting Destiny 1 longer than a couple years (best case scenario).

Any other questions?

I agree, it won't come anywhere near a 10 year game. This isn't WoW.

A 10 year series, sure.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, this is the first game in a year that lived up to the hype for me

I would say in presentation and core gameplay, it does live up to the hype for me. Also the constant co-op aspect. I'm a big fan of co-op games and it's pretty rare when they are done well. Where it falls short is on content (variety of content anyway). Granted, I'm only Lvl 11 on Venus, but all of the reviews I've read pretty much say the same thing. I'm interested in the expansions but only if they put out something really worth while (not just more of the same with a higher lvl cap). When I hit the lvl cap (which I likely will), I'll probably not start over as another class unless I have a compelling reason to do so. For the game as is, I'll likely be "done" with it just about the time FH2 comes out. The Crucible is "meh" IMO so that is no draw to me. Rather play Titanfall for MP personally.

yeah missions themselves are very basic and repetitive (go here, press X, defend, then move on to boss fight) but the variety and fun comes in doing it with different weapons, going for different bounties that all pay off with real nice loot. its very satisfying, but if you dont enjoy the grinding aspect then i can see why someone wouldnt like it. it also helps playing with friends

getting a unique looking weapon is always my target lol i just got a cool looking pulse rifle that now i will upgrade to have better sights/stats.. then i am sure as i get bored with that i would have looted a better looking and performing weapon and off we go again lol i just love that. its very similar to diablo(a game i got bored of after 2 days), the problem with diablo is when i was getting better loot i didnt really care since it wasnt making a huge visual change.

ALSO when you hit the level cap THATS when the game gets good, you finally start getting some real rare items and only way to go past max level (20) is by getting better loot that reward light points.

after a bit it feels just like halo, the enemies even look and act similar and with the x1 controller its almost the same gameplay ...well it is bungie after all.
