Don't drink and drive kids.

Speaking of which, I got a bit annoyed that when I got my character drunk it wore off by the time I got to the car almost. The only time it stuck for a minute or so was when I took a friend drinking, but even then it doesn't last long.

They really need to halve the time it takes to get to a half decent level. 1-25 without repeating missions over and over for hours (which they've now nerfed) is 20+ hours or something. That's a lot of time for anybody to put into a game, and you've barely unlocked any of the stuff in the multiplayer at level 25. Roaming security vans, gang hideouts, air drops and probably more that I have yet to unlock start unlocking at around level 15 and higher. Massive time sink to get to the good stuff.

Just popping in to say when GTA Online works it's absolutely brilliant. I haven't had this much fun in an online game in a long long long time. Was with a buddy who stole a firetruck picked me up and while picking me up was hosing down the cops with the hose to cover me. I could hardly breathe I was laughing so hard. Our escapade lasted for about twenty minutes at a four star wanted level while taking out other players and loads of cops in the mayhem. I only wish I could've recorded it. You can't script that kind of hilarity.

Really hope they add more Hitman missions. 5 is just way too low and maybe this time let the other characters get in on them? A hit needing all 3 could have been cool.

What a riot! I played for 4 hrs straight last night with a friend, zero issues and tons of fun! When online works, it's just as advertised, R* has a real winner here.

Some were saying it was shallow, but they must have only been doing random activities. They're fun too, but Jobs are where the real fun is at imo. We just kept warping from one to another, no need for wasting time driving everywhere, unless it's actually part of the mission.

Absolutely sublime, when it works. Within the week I bet R* will have most things ironed out so all can enjoy.

Man Rockstar dropped the ball for the Online part. People are still losing their characters and money. Last night I had like 40K in the bank and today only had 24K.

I don't understand why...

A.) A game already delayed was filled with bugs and crippling errors.
B.) They delayed the MP component.
and C.) The delayed MP component is filled with bugs and crippling errors.

yeah I was like level 7 and had almost 10K in the bank, had some dinner came back in and was back to zero rank zero bucks :smash:
s*** like this should not be happening. Rockstar even had a Friends and Family beta to sort out all these issues.

They're server issues. A friend and family beta isn't going to be an accurate prediction on the server load when you open it up to millions of players. It is incredibly difficult to predict how the servers will cope when they're opened up to the masses. MMO launch weeks are usually plagued with problems and while GTA Online isn't an MMO it does share some things with one, mainly the fact almost everything is stored on the server. It doesn't mean Rockstar are easily forgiven for the problems of course. With the amount of money they knew they were making you'd think they'd beef up the amount of servers they had.

The trick to reliably keeping your character saved is to launch GTA Online from the start menu in GTA V, and when exiting Online you also leave from the start menu. The auto save is unreliable at the moment so if you just turn off your console or go to your systems dashboard you could lose minutes or even hours of progress. It's still not 100% reliable though, the cloud could be down when saving so you could still lose time, and people joining and quitting Online this way have still lost characters.

Logged on yesterday and my level 20 character was gone. That's done it for me. I'm not starting again.

From R*

"If you want to make sure the characters you create are saved, you should not proceed into GTA Online when the R* Cloud Servers are unavailable. Even if the services come back up while you are playing on a temporary character, that temporary character will not save -- you would need to return to Single Player and re-enter GTA Online to load your non-temporary characters and resume playing with the ability to save progress.

"When exiting GTA Online, please pause the game and choose to return to Single Player. This will trigger a save and ensure that progress since the last auto-save is recorded. If you purchase items and immediately power the console off or exit through console system menus, those items may not be saved.

"Please do NOT use the "Retry" button after receiving the message "Rockstar Cloud Servers are unavailable" as this may result in loss of character data. If you are trying to access GTA Online and Rockstar Cloud Servers are unavailable, please exit to GTAV Story Mode and try entering GTA Online again through the Pause menu in Story Mode. We will be issuing a title update that will fix this issue as soon as possible."

"Also, we have not forgotten about the requests for restoration. We are in the process of determining the options for addressing the issues for those players who have been affected. Please stay tuned for further updates here."

Wow allot of issues. I am going to have to agree with M.Wallace on this one...it's still in Beta. : /

Yeah, not going back online until it's fixed. Hope my rank 10 character is still there, already lost two before. I haven't been online since before the weekend.

Still haven't tried Online and probably won't for a good while. Still have plenty of the single player stuff to do, as I just did my first heist last night and unlocked Trevor. Speaking of the heist, I enjoyed it, but was disappointed in the scripting for the mission. I understand it's story based so certain things play out the way they do, but if you're going to give me a choice to be stealthy vs guns blazing then it should actually make a difference.

It's still in alpha.
Fixed that for you. ;)

I've been lucky as in that the only thing that's happened to me is I've only lost some rank / money progression a few times. I have both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions (different friends on each system) and since they went live the 360 version has been far easier to get into and play even through yesterday.
