Xbox One pre-orders sold out pretty quickly at most major retailers, and many gamers are concerned that they won’t be able to secure the next gen console at launch. Well, we’ve got some good news, Xbox fans! Speaking with GameStop management, we can confirm that GameStop will begin taking pre-orders for Xbox One again starting tomorrow, October 9.

Amazon still has the X1 for pre-order, but it's not the Day One edition. I wonder if these will be Day Ones?

I think they mentioned at one point that standard editions would also be shipping day one, it was just the Day One editions that were limited, not that those are the only editions for day one.

If these are day one consoles that will take away from the excitement and the kind of exclusive-ness of having one. :/

I think all the Day One editions are sold on one most if not all retailers (maybe MS Store Canada still has some available?), I think the new ones GS is getting allocated are just standard edition or else other retailers would be announcing new allocations of day one editions as well.

At most there will still be only a 3-4 million consoles with the day one stuff. The X1 will likely only sell 100-150 million consoles over its lifetime. So you will still be exclusive. The X1 might be a loud hot console that burns out in a couple of years. In that case you will get your collectors item there.

The new consoles will be standard editions. And the X1 will definitely NOT be a loud hot console; quite the opposite as that was their primary focus: a console that can stay on for 10 years. I'm sure that was sarcasm meant in there, just didn't come through.

Its the same here for at Amazon Germany's site. Cannot ordered a DAy one edition, but gamestop have tarde in offer, slim console + 3 games for xbox one standard edition with 110€ rebate.

I work for Gamestop Ceger.... Have for a long time...

You don't have to believe me.. Just relaying information I thought someone might want here..

What a disapointment, I was hoping xbox one will act as a 2nd source of central heating for my living room in the winter. :p

Preorder cancelled!

Lmao, I say the same thing about my 80Gb PS3. It has to use more power than my drier lol.

Glad to hear MS is opening up the pre-orders again but from I understand their is supposed to be plenty of consoles available at launch.

So this is specific to GameStop? If so, then GameStop should advertise that they are Day Ones as that would give them an edge.

This is specific to GameStop... And don't be shocked if this is shut down tomorrow... Or even later today. If there were a massive number of available consoles it would be more widely promoted..

This is the first time I have seen preorders restocked so much (that includes the PS4). Seems like Sony and MS are having no problems with production this time around.

I still wouldn't hold my breath. Remember that "Things break". I doubt launch consoles will last that long although I would like to be proven wrong.

That'd be cool if they do.

Yeah I'm worried about this as well. But I guess as long as they are good about fixing it, I'll live with it.

Hey maybe they could make up for it by giving a free 3 month Xbox live membership or something to that effect.
Hopefully. They should have something special for the people who have pre-ordered and have had it paid off since day one lol I also made the decision to not get the PS4 yet :/. Not excited about it as I am the XB1 so I shouldn't spend 400 on something I wont use as much. Learned my lesson with the first Ipad. RARELY USED IT lol

From what I have seen likely the latter.. They are setting limits on how many a person can have pre ordered etc.

That said I know the company is constantly trying to get Microsoft, and Sony, to commit more... Gamestop sells a ridiculously large percentage of product for game companies.. Regardless of the hate we get. ;)

Are GameStop employees worried Xbox and PlayStation going all digital is going to eventually end up hurting GameStop, like layoffs? (Truly, I'm not saying that to be mean, just asking)

Oh.. And to be clear.. This isn't fodder for system wars. Personally I've taken more cancellations on Ps4's but that means nothing really.. Tons of idiots realize they're too broke for new consoles etc..

Sony pre orders were reopened for a day or so previously.. And that may happen again soon.

A certain law the current US administration passed hurt Gamestop employees far more than the looming digital boogeyman.. Of course the company is concerned.. But there's always ways to hedge your bets, and we know how much money we make for the industry.

I'm not trying to make this a political issue.. Just answering a question honestly.

It sounds like you are saying that GS is going through existing pre-orders and cancelling some that exceed the per person limit? So those that orderd like 3 or 4 will be SOL? If that is the case then good job GS lol, those people are just going to flog em for exorbitant prices..unfair for the gamers.

Subzero - thanks for the insight. Very cool to have an insider on the boards that is privy to that kind of info.
