All great levels start with a plan. What are you going to make with Spark?

One of the things I am most anticipating with the X1 is Spark. What are you guys planning on making with it? What do hope to be able to do with it? What are you guys hoping other people do with it?

Sounds great but I have little time to create anything.

I think some kind of 3D pac-man game with Dragons would be cool. Also, if possible a Kinect Godzilla game where you have to destroy things and get enough points to make it to the next level and as you progress it gets harder because like the military comes in with planes and stuff.

Just some ideas.

I am thinking of making a fantasy world type golf game - always wanted to try to architect a golf course and this is my first real opportunity on a console.

Depending on what level of Kinect access it gives; I was thinking of a hybrid horror game that has varying levels of content based on facial expression and heart rate.

I think I would make a Gunstar Heroes clone in HD and name it Xbot Heroes

and make up some cool story line to go with it .

I suck at creating things and have very little time. I'm at 40% completion on GTA V and got it at launch, can you believe that? I'll probably download other people's creations. Can't wait till people start creating Mario clones and stuff like that.

Twin stick shooter and if the tools allow it, some kind of turnbased fantasy game or card game.

I think the problem with indie games is that there isn't even close to the proper amount of toilet humor available. s***s and giggles is what I will call the game.
Man that is brilliant.

I'm thinking a lightning fast blue hedgehog or something to do with sideburns.

Has anyone considered the implications if someone creates an original ip that becomes really popular and rouses the interest of a developer to make a full blown game? Would the creator have any rights to it or does anything created using Spark become the ip of its developer (not even sure sure who this is, ms studios?)

I'm guessing no. Unless said person has money to burn for lawsuits that after years would have him/her break even from attourney fees.

Yeah I thought about this too. Wondering if there was any way to reimburse people who make really successful games. Will be interesting to see.

I'm going to remake PSO or try my best to make it better with red drops being a alot easier to get like kill 1000 mobs of a certail type level, area and a red will drop.

It seems to me that if you made a mod, and the mod got really popular, it would be a great line item on your game developer resume. If someone blatantly knocked your idea off, it would be a validation of your potential as a game designer.

I think if you want to monitize your spark creations the way to go is make youtube machinima movies and get millions of people to watch your movies.

Or use it as prototype platform to quickly hash out your content. Then when your game is designed, move over to Unity or Cryengine (UDK seems to have abandoned the indy scene... They want heavy duty royalties from developers...) and bring in your original assets and release a polished game.

Lot's of people in various modding-comunity get's jobs at the developers who create the game they've modded, I've also seen a few cases where people who does fan-artwork got hired to work on upcoming titles.
Also seemingly in games like this with user-generated content - like in LBP some creators got hired by Media Molecule, so you could step into the industry as a designer this way.

As to monetize the stuff you create more directly - it is really hard - when you sign up for these types of deals, you will usually have to sign away most of the ownership rights to the publishers of these kind of games. Thus them ending up with the ownership of your creation. :-/
In a worst case scenario, you prototype something there and release it - and then later you get more tech-savvy and release a better product on Steam forinstance, then you might be sued for using stuff you've created, wich don't belong to you anymore, but Project Spark-creators own it. :-/

That's kindof what I thought Kong. While a truly innovative idea brought forth may never materialize into something that makes you money - it could get you noticed and this "game" Spark offers a real opportunity to do such. I can't imagine how many great ideas video game companies ignore - something along the lines of bands, songwriters, writers, and other artists.
