Dragon Age: Inquisition - Nov. 18

and what have you done to rectify the Diectt X issues ? Have you reinstalled the one in the DA:I folder ? have you updated to the latest version from the MS website ? have you tried a fresh install of the latest GPU drivers ? One thing that will likely work is playing in windowed mode. Windowed mode, like I said previously, has stopped me getting crashes on start up

Windowed mode seemed to help people getting crashes that were not during gameplay. I put it back in fullscreen mode because I was still getting crashes and it made it more annoying to close the game in windowed mode for some reason.

I tried rolling back to the previous graphics driver. I got a full crash that made me restart the computer even. I will probably go back to the new one if that happens again.

I tried disabling explorer after starting the game. It may have helped. Performance seemed smoother. Time will tell if this works. We'll see.

Other things I tried were installing that directX update that was mentioned on some forum. I disabled Origin in game as well.

I managed to play some tonight with no crash. I'll see how it works tomorrow with explorer disabled while playing. It seemed to help, but it might have been a coincidence.

It's issues like these that made me decided to get a ps4 to play the game instead.

Anyway. Short impression after 3/4 hour or so ( exclude character creation).

As far as graphics goes, it's pretty underwhelming as my first next gen game on my shiny new console. Other than 1080p hd, & higher res texture, & slightly better materials, it looks pretty much like pc version of a last gen game. The polygon count are decidedly last gen. Don't get me wrong, it's not ugly, but the visuals alone are not going to make people rush to get a next gen console. I do not buy the game for its visuals alone though, so on with gameplay.

It's a bit overwhelming, & they threw so much stuff at you so early. Before you even warm up to your character, they throw in a group & tactical view. I feel this can be done more gradually.

More impression later after I get more playtime.

Noooooooooooooooooooo! Mere seconds away from taking down my first dragon and the damn game crashes

Like going PS4 will save you  it has the same issues the PC version does. Crashes, fooked up saves..etc.

Xbox One definitive version confirmed. ;-)

Only had one crash so far and I think that was caused by leaving the game in standby mode over night.

I discovered a good news, UnionVGF is not blocked anymore (for now) (probably due to some update I guess) No more using my small phone screen to type & surf.

Anway, so wanting to go back home to play this game. I haven't have this feeling for game, for a while.

I wanted to create unique character, turned out it become Marco Reus look alike especially that silly hair of his. I choose the only short hair (the one with shaved sides), as otehrs are just way worst. I wanted white hair (like Witcher), but it was so bright, as if illuminated, so I go 2 shade darker, & the hair become golden blonde.

But I am too lazy to go back to redo the character again.

I have only played 12 hours but not a single crash and only bug is the sound messing up occasionally . Hopefully this trend continues for me.:)

Its funny, is't it ? you would think that these problems would be equally shared between a platforms users, especially on consoles, and yet the difference in experiences is vast.

Seeing as every console is identical you would think so and maybe I just have not played enough to experience the other bugs and crashes yet. Like I said I hope I continue with the luck of not having them happen though.

I am still stuck on which to choose for my Archer. I have taken away Assassin. Now I have to choose between Artificer & Tempest. Tempest has some awesome flasks to use, but common sense keeps screaming that Artificer is the only real way to go for Archer.

Artificer suuuuuucks, Tempest is the best for Archers. Only good skill in Artificer is the shadow clone skill that relies on focus meter.

Yet it seems enough to condemn something.

Doesn't change my statement or the fact therein. It just means you pointed out why most forum posters are naive and believe their perception is reality.

God damn! this game is never ending. Every time I think I am putting a small dent in to the mountainous quest list, another bunch of quests get added

Also, where the fooook do you find Obsidian in this god forsaken game ? I found some in the hinterlands before, but for the life of me I can not find any there. I can not even find that little tunnel to the Dragon any more either:surprise:

Do skills like "A thousand cuts" still work with an Archer ?

Wasn't meant to change it. However, I would change your reply from "forums posters" to "People."

"A Thousand Cuts" was a skill in Jade Empire, too. Although it worked a little differently.

Well, go to the camp in hinterlands to the far east, and then head north to the area with little dragons. Hug the right wall/cliff, and you should find at least two obsidian in that area. It should respawn (I think).

Oh crap. There's a part in the game that I'm at that mirrors a certain part in Origins I HATED. Crap.

Made me a new Build. I have dubbed it the Toxic Avenger build.

Archery
  • Death From Above
  • First Blood
  • Leaping Shot
  • Explosive shot & Chain Reaction
  • Strafing Shots
  • Full Draw & Stunning Shot
Sabotage
  • Poisoned Weapons & Infected Wounds
  • Fighting Dirty
  • Explosive Toxin
Subterfuge
  • Stealth
Tempest (Only just unlocked)
  • Flask Of Frost
Potions
  • Confusion Grenade

Am really enjoying this build. The toxic passive AOE effects work well to cover the battleground in a toxic mist. The confusion grenades are great too, and cause the enemy to attack each other for a significant amount of time (20 seconds), and allows you to concentrate on the more powerful enemies, or gives time to adjust your strategy or positioning in the heat of battle. Stealth and flask of frost is a great combo, jump in to stealth, run in to the middle of the battle, gulp down Flask Of Frost and just run in to as many enemies as you can to freeze them before leap shotting back out.

Funky. I'm going to have to get me some of those confusion grenades. They sound like fun.

Reality is relative, so no fault there.

The first thread got a little long, so here's a new thread to discuss DA:I and all your adventures and questions.

One of the things I appreciate about this game is the way it sometimes gives you an area to search -- the big purple circle -- rather than pointing you to a specific spot. That preserves some sense of exploration and discovery, as opposed to games that point your nose exactly where you're supposed to go.

One of the things I don't like about that, though, is that it can sometimes be hard to find what you're looking for. For instance, earlier today, I ran around in a big purple circle for about half an hour, looking for special bear claws. I found lots of other stuff (enemy soldiers, wildlife, other bears), but not the bears I was looking for. Maybe by "bear claws" they meant donuts, but I didn't see any Winchell's either. Oh well, back at it later.

Is there no way to increase your chance at getting "Fade touched" versions of crafting resources? I've had terrible luck getting them from picking stuff up as I'm doing stuff.

No idea. I've played for about 27 or 28 hours, and I got my first "fade-touched" ore about 30 minutes ago.

Is there a way to bring up the mapped skills before you use it?

Do not think so. I have about 15-20 bits of fade touched materials. Most of which were found in loot. In the Forbidden Oasis for example there is a cave where 3-4 vervari(?) are around and they sometimes have fade touched silk in their loot.
