And Dragon Age has finally took the lead. Not surprising really. Surprised it took this long and got such good competition. I expected it to wipe the floor with all other entries.

Dragon age & Dishonored DLC are pretty much the only AAA titles I played this year, rest are all indies.

You wait till you play forza and youl see why it was so close to dragon age. That is if you like racing games. Dragon age wouldve been my goty if it didn't have annoying bugs etc and get a little tiresome in the sidequests. Forza is polished from the get go and huge amounts of fun

I love racers, especially the Forza series. It is a little unusual for one to be so many peoples GOTY.
Oh, nothing's wrong with indies. I just made the decision to exclude them, because most people want to focus on big games when they're talking GOTY, and I had to keep the number of games down because there are only 10 spots on the poll. Plus I didn't see anything this year like Journey or TWD that really got people fired up. [edit: Also, I would have to doublecheck, but I don't think we had two votes for any indie game in the other thread.] We could always do a separate indie GOTY poll, if you like.

Here's a list of the highest metacritic-rated games of the year. Funny that none of the games on this list made our GOTY poll, except for Bayonetta 2 -- or, alternately, that none of the GOTY candidates got average review scores of 90 or above.

The lesson I took away from the metacritic list was that "best rated" and "best liked" are two different things.
Yeah, I know. It's an Xbox-leaning site, so people will tend to favor Xbox games. I'd be curious to know if any other sites/publications select Forza as their GOTY.
I don't think the poll means much. I think of it more as an opportunity to express opinions about games, rather than any real gauge of consensus among Union members (most of whom didn't vote at all). The sample size is so small -- only 14 people voted for the winner -- that you can't really make much out of it.

That should dictate how we feel? Btw, I didn't vote for it. But it's an excellent choice.
You're right. Everyone here should give up their right to choose for themselves and should conform to the masses. Would make things simpler.
