The Xbox One will see a permanent price drop by May
The holidays were amazing for Microsoft. While the December NPD's are not out as of this writing, it looks like the Xbox One sold over two million units for November and December. Look for January to be better than the standard 150,000-175,000 the rest of 2014 was for the Xbox One and February to be a little worse. Microsoft will realize to keep pace with Sony they have to be permanently below the PS4 and they need to do it before the PS4 has it's own drop.
Uncharted 4 and Quantum Break will be pushed to 2016
These two hotly anticipated games are on most people's radars. We've only seen very few snippets of both games thus far. While E3 will be the big reveal for both of these titles I just think that Naughty Dog and Remedy will need a little more polish to make sure the games are the best on either console. Quantum Break may eek into December but my gut tells me it won't.
The Division will win the most GOTY's in 2015
With all of the flack that Ubisoft has received the past year, ALL of it justified, I see The Division being that game that make many forget their multiple missteps. The Division has been in production for a while already, and it's been delayed, even though no release date was officially give, I believe, and the fine tuning and bug detection should have had enough time. It doesn't carry the over the top hype that Destiny had and had no chance to live up to. That will work in The Division's favor as it wouldn't have to live up to anything. With seamless merging of a mission with online play, I think Ubisoft has an absolute winner on it's hands.
Nintendo will hint at their next console by holiday 2015
The Wii U has a stellar lineup with more stellar games in the pipeline. Even with that it's dead in the water. It won't surpass the Xbox One in sales and nobody is touching the PlayStation 4. The Wii U is four million behind the Xbox One with a year head start. It's not catching it. The Wii U will be number three. No matter how amazing the Wii U's first party titles are, there's no innovation that many wanted like the Wii had and the video game industry is driven by multiplatform titles which the Wii U either doesn't get or have the worst version. The Wii U is going to be all but buried by the end of 2015 and Nintendo will work feverishly to get their next console out. Look for a new Nintendo console in November 2017.
People will love No Man's Sky and not know why
No Man's Sky will be the darling of 2015. People will love it. I'm sure people will hate it to because so many people will love it. With all that love, people won't be able to put into words why they love it. The game is very basic. Fly around, collect stuff, trade stuff, build a better ship so you can collect more stuff. It will be boring on the surface, but, people will find themselves playing it for hours on end. People will get a sense of enjoyment from doing very little and we won't know why. No Man's Sky will be the independent game everyone talks about when discussing the accomplishments an independent studio make.
