Shenmue Series

Well the first Shenmue had some major issues but part 2 fixed that. Exp in part one you have to wait till certain times for things to trigger to move the story and you had to f***ing wait there till the game time was the time you needed. In part 2 once you get to the area you need it asks do you want to speed up time to trigger the event.

Same want for finding areas in part one your ass was on your own and I would be forever tiring to f***ing find places in part 2 you ask someone and they will lead you there and you just follow them. Just the setting the world they made was so alive it was an impressive game.

PR fluff. MS also said it a couple times in the past and hell even SEGA teased it a couple years back. They all just like getting a little smile from fans.

Best bet for me is HD ports on both XBox and PlayStation platforms Digital services.

Also this doesn't mean anything. Sega still own the IP.

Just HD versions of 1&2 would be nice and if those sold well enough maybe somebody could fund 3

Well if reports are to be believed an XBox version of Shenmue III exists and was pulled last minute from E3 many years ago so they could just port them all.

Why hate on it for the simple fact that others like it that much. If you don't want it, don't pay it no mind.
I'm not hating on it. I just think it's a particular series that doesn't need to come back that it's better left alone for what it was. I don't feel an overwhelming need for them to bring it back & quite possibly ruin it. Sega themselves canned the series because it cost so much to make the dang game & the second one sold 1/3rd of what the original did even though it was on more platforms. People think Shenmue was widely successful, but it wasn't, it was a huge money loss for Sega. Leave the series alone, let it be respected for what it was during that time in video game history.

I'm not concerned with the financial side of things. They've greenlit things people have absolutely no interest now for years. I'm a gamer first, a big fan of the series and I want the 3rd game.

We're basically just gonna have to agree to disagree on Shenmue. I will say this. It is apparent that I love the games more than you do. Which is why I find it strange you'd try to oppose something for what someone else loves even though you claim the experience wasn't special to you. That's very strange to me. I stand by my previous post. The analogy was solid.

I never said I didn't enjoy it? I just wonder why you want Sega to remake a game that they have absolutely no interest in. Don't you think that would turn out poorly? Yu Suzuki (creator of Shenmue) & Sega weren't even getting along near the end of when he was there. He tried to make this whole Shenmue: Online thing that cost Sega 25 million dollars when they all canceled it. Why don't you just go back & play Shenmue if you like it so much? I still play Halo 2 & even hooked it up online even though they took the servers down. You seem to think I don't like the game or such.

If you want Shenmue so bad, go start some petition or something. I'm not fighting you, just expressing my opinion. Honestly, if I wanted some Dreamcast game made, I'd want Phantasy Star: Online before anything, I spent way more time in that & they took the servers down so you can't even enjoy that game how it was meant to be played.

Again... no they don't.
Yes, a lot of them do. I've been on a good number of message boards over the years. There's a lot of people that are fans of a certain game & just because they were fans they thought so many people knew about the game or played it when it really wasn't as popular as they think, it was just nostalgic to them. They always wonder, "Why doesn't some company remake that, everybody knows that game!" Uh, no they don't. The average gamer knows Call of Duty & Madden. lol.

Yu Suzuki (creator of Shenmue) & Sega weren't even getting along near the end of when he was there. He tried to make this whole Shenmue: Online thing that cost Sega 25 million dollars when they all canceled it. [3] Why don't you just go back & play Shenmue if you like it so much? I still play Halo 2 & even hooked it up online even though they took the servers down. You seem to think I don't like the game or such. [4] You asking me, "Hey, devilsgrin do you think they should remake Shenmue," is like asking me, "Hey, devilsgrin do you think they should remake Back To The Future 1?" Uh, no, leave it alone, it was just fine how it was. lol. The only reason I want them to remake Halo 2 is because they took the servers down. So if they remade it, you could actually play online again.

[5] If you want Shenmue so bad, go start some petition or something. I'm not fighting you, just expressing my opinion. Honestly, if I wanted some Dreamcast game made, [6] I'd want Phantasy Star: Online before anything, I spent more time in that than anything on that system.

[1] I never said you didn't enjoy it. You said the game was a bit overrated. I said people enjoyed it more than you did.

[2] It wouldn't have to turn out poorly with a collaboration between YS.net, Sega and a console company backing the IP. It has happened before. Never say never, right?

[3] Playing Shenmue 1 and 2 over and over isn't the same as getting Shenmue 3. That's ridiculous. It's about continuing the unfininished story, not replaying what I already have.

[4] I did'n't. You misunderstand, I'm not asking for a remake per se..but I'm saying... even if someone was..why oppose it? You can always go back to playing the original Shenmue 1 and 2 as you previously stated. They can't ruin your experience of what you already own. You're also not forced to buy Shenmue 3 or the remake. * points back at the Descend 2.

[5] ... Yes, because petitions have worked so well for me in the past.

[6] I want Phantasy Star Online too but that has absolutely nothing to do with Shenmue 3. For me it doesn't have to be one game over the other.

I know you're not fighting me. We're discussing opinions and from what I've heard those are like @ssholes since everybody has one.

Ok. Fair enough. I don't feel like going on about this anymore honestly. It's just silly at this point. I guess I'm one of those people that felt like he'd want other games before a game like Shenmue. I liked the game, but I didn't "fall in love" with it like a lot of people did. There I said it. lol. I honestly felt at times it was boring & other times it was good. So I think in my list of games for Dreamcast that I want remade, like I have stated, there's a ton of games before that because I had more fun in them. Phantasy Star Online is the obvious choice. You can't play that game anymore how it was meant to be played with four players online. Then there was stuff like Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Power Stone 2, Virtua Tennis, Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, Rayman 2, Legacy of Kain, god, the list goes on & on for how short Dreamcast was around. So if you asked me, I'd rather have a "Combo Pack" of 3-5 of those games put together on a disc remade per disc than one Shenmue that got boring to me at times. Then you add in how little Sega cares about Shenmue & it's like whatever, give me Phantasy Star.

Any Shenmue fans who missed this yesterday should watch this as it has a good amount of new details and never before seen artwork.

Sadly the Q&A at the end is poor and rushed and the presentation does just sort of abruptly end.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-05-20-its-time-for-your-annual-shenmue-3-rumour

E3 is just around the corner, which means it's obviously time for the rumour mill to creak into action and start guffing out hints that long awaited games are finally going to be confirmed. Today it's the turn of that old favourite, Shenmue 3, the MIA concluding chapter in Yu Suzuki's ambitious and expensive series of adventures about revenge, martial arts and driving forklift trucks.

This latest kerfuffle seems to have started on Japanese website Gamestalk and boasts the classic features of any good conspiracy theory: murky photos of unknown origin, annotated with red circles and arrows. In this case, they purport to show images from some sort of promotional video bearing the logos of both original Shenmue publisher Sega and, for some reason, Square Enix. The PS4 and Steam logos are also visible, along with a Spring 2016 date.

Ready for the proof? Open wide, here it comes. The images appear to show a close up of a jacket, which seems to have the same motif as the one worn by Shenmue lead character Ryo. Three petals can also be seen. The first petal has one cut in it while the second has two. This, apparently, proves that an HD remaster of the first two Shenmue games is on the way. The third petal has three cuts, so obviously Shenmue 3 is happening. Obviously.

I would be very perplexed and unhappy if Shen Mue 3 ended up a Playstation exclusive. Perplexed because the series was never on Sony Platforms (the opposite, in fact), and MS even had it on the OG xbox. That better be for Yakuza or something. :(

Microsoft made that rumor photo so people get on the Sony E3 hype train only to have Microsoft reveal it during their conference earlier in the day.

1. It's about Shenmue
2. SE
3. PS4 and PC only

I agree about the first one, but SE IS possible, because SEGA is a publisher only now, if i remember correctly? PS4 and PC only is possible, because Japan barely cares for Xbox One. Kinda similar to Star Ocean on PS4 only. That's kinda how i saw it :)

Shenmue sold more outside of Japan
Also Ryo never zipped up that jacket SEGA is not just a publisher.

It also just looks fake.
