Found this on Reddit.

There's a link in there to a translated article. If true, Studio Gobo is working on a spiritual successor to Legends, it will be AAA but also free to play. Sigh, not like this Microsoft, please! Fans simply want Fable 4. SP focused! A proper Fable 4.

Why even can Legends if you're gonna do the same thing again?

They think its Fable because the Studio employs former lionhead staff and 22 cans staff (Molyneuxs studio) which is a tenuous link IMO.

It might have made sense to hire them to finish Legends a year ago (MS did this with Robot Entertainment to look after Halo Wars when Ensemble closed) but if that were the case they would have stated at the time to minimise fallout and the game would have released.

I really doubt this is a Fable game, if it is based on an existing IP its probably something like that Halo Megablox game.

So they closed down lionhead for no reason if true.

Microsoft being Microsoft.

Should have kept Lionhead around and given them creative freedom to resurrect or create a new IP.

Argh! Hope this isn't true. An announcement like this would make Microsoft's 1st party seem as clueless as ever. Makes no sense unless the reason for MSs cancellation of the original game was due to not wanting to own many studios.

Look i was cheering for Fable Legends because the last built made the game so good.

Graphics was impressive and the presentation was tops.

I say go for it because that was one title I was looking forward to play.

Fable 4 SP is just a waste of time and money.

Unless they put a SP and then added Legends then I will be okay with that.

Hmmmm well reports did they tried to save the project. Maybe they finally find a way.

But its still sad and they should have had LH work on a trilogy pack first before attempting this.

I hope you're right man because that job listing for third person action game not so long ago from Studio Gobo sounded interesting to me. Like a new IP that I was hoping for and is what MS really needs. But yeah you're right, closing Lionhead only to have former Lionhead people work on it again via Gobo is just odd.

Also it doesn't seem Gobo has really made a whole lot of things so I would wonder why MS has faith that this developer can make it better than Lionhead itself.

They could use these assets and make it a SP game. Looking on all kinds of forums ever since the cancelation of Legends it became clear to me how much people want a proper Fable 4. Of course it remains to be seen how many people actually buy it when it comes out, but still.

I say use everything from Legends, so the character models, the game world, the combat, although do flesh that out a bit and build more environments, add quests. Look at games like Witcher 3 for inspiration. However the more easy, safe and understandable way is by making it Legends instead. At the same time not understandable at all because why close a studio completely for that?

Hope we get some real info on this soon. We should be getting that judging by that tweet from Gobo. It would frustrate the hell out of me that even after all those mistakes, being that the people in charge back then opted for Legends and not that awesome sounding darker Fable 4 and then eventually canning it, only to go back to it by a different studio. Back to the drawing board WITH those assets I say.

Pass on this if true. I don't want a re worked Fable Legends. I want a fully actualized Fable 4 single player game. Not free to play, not MMO.

Makes no sense. So they sent Lionhead packing just so they could do the same game in the end anyway? Scumbags if true.

Maybe they had to thin out Lionhead? Sorry, that was one bloated developer. Especially glad they got rid of that twit at the helm. Such a big head, that guy.

The failings of Lionhead are several, its Phil Harrisons fault for insisting they make a service based game. Its Phil Spencers fault for not holding tighter leash on development and letting it go on 2 years after its original release date. Its Lionheads fault taking too long and too much money on a simple F2P beat em up.

Lionhead, like many other developers who get closed, just took too long to make games.

I think that company was rotten from the top down. I know Legends was kind of after Peter Molyneux (although I think he was there when development started), but that guy was a joke. Not only did he talk such a big game and under-deliver for every single game he ever made, he would also publicly put Microsoft down while still being employed. If he wasn't the head honcho, he would have been out many years ago, due to bad work ethic. He was worse for the company than that "deal with it" guy, IMO.

Sounds like that's just a cover for a bigger problem though. Why not build some new studios from the ground up instead of relying on devs that you're not sure are going to get the job done. Then you go and fire a bunch of people and give the project to another team? They basically outsourced their own game to save a few bucks. Didn't know Microsoft was hurting this bad for money.

I think they were ok in the 360 days, Fable 3 came out real quick...but as with every generation standards rise and not everyone can cut it.

You can always tell from the long ass dev times.

Those developers either have to grow or close.

Well, Sony is kind of doing the same exact thing with Wipeout Collection. Fired a bunch of people (literal legends), then hired another team to port their stuff.

I have no doubts you're putting the spurs to them in the PlayStation thread as well.

Course not. You know by now TD ain't no straight shooter. I just hate on Xbox. The hundreds of thousands of hours i've racked up on the platform mean nothing. It's all a cover.

In all seriousness though, it would have to be a game that i actually care about for me to care. Fable was one of the pillars of the Xbox brand. Going in a completely different direction to begin with was a slap in the face. Then it's canceled altogether? Like what is going on in Redmond that the situation got this dire. I really don't get it.

No idea, it doesn't really make any sense. I feel like if Molynouex didn't leave, he would have been able to get them extra time to correct the course.

As for MS, they better be bringing the heat this e3; it feels like they've let too much slack go into their upcoming line-up announcements.

After MS brings the games, I wonder how long it'll take for people to start chanting, "We didn't ask for games."
With MS, every E3 this gen has been about games games games. I guess it will never be good enough unless it's about games games games games.

My Xbox One backlog of games says HELP please!
