Fat PS3 "Other OS" class action suite

I filled mine out in December. I was actually using Yellow Dog Linux on mine before they took it away. I doubt it'll be anything close to $65 with lawyers and other people taking a huge chunk of the filthy lucre.

Is there any way to claim even if you dont have that console anymore?

You will also have to provide at least one of the following: (1) your PS3 serial number; or (2) the PlayStation Network Sign-In ID (email address) you used to create a PlayStation account associated with your Fat PS3; (3) or the PlayStation Network Online ID (the handle you chose for communicating and game play on the PlayStation Network) associated with the PlayStation account you used with your Fat PS3.

You have 2 other options without the serial number. You don't have to have all of the information, just 1 thing out of the 3 should work...unless whoever you sold/gave it to registered it.

I sold my BC PS3 after it YLOD for parts to some one. So I will see if I can claim.

Nice. My launch PS3 never broke on me and didn't care about Linux but good to see people getting reimbursed for the trouble.

Did they ever do one of these for the 360 and RROD? I think Microsoft owes me at least $600. Willing to bargain for $265 if anyone gets the ball rolling.

I unboxed my 60gb model back in November when something special was released for it...

I'm still shocked that they got away with the RRoD crap for so long. I was on my 3rd console that I bought all 3 times and it died again during the time they started replacing them for "free". I lied and said mine had the 3 rings when it was just 2 of them lighting up.

Meanwhile, Sony updates their firmware on consoles removing features and gets sued for it...

Strange I think PlayStation 4 OS is a fork of FreeBSD.

It just seems ironic to restrict Other OS while they themselves are profiting from free open source resources. I wonder if this even squares with the licensing.

I bought a new one then swapped serial number stickers and used my receipt from the new to take the old one back as a return.

YOU ARE BAD.

I traded in my 1st broken one to the GS that sold it to me for $150 and put it towards the PS3 I still have now. So, I'm dishonest too.

Filing that os settlement form was fairly simple. I bought the 60gb in February of 2007. It got the ylod in 2010.

On one hand I could really use a free $65 but the effort to unplug my PS3 and turn it upside to get the ID off of there is a bit much.

It's on the back or perhaps on the box if you still have it.

You could give me the serial # and I'll fill out the info on the site and we can split the money.

Think buying one second hand off of ebay 7 years ago entitles me to compensation?

I'll find out. Hell I got the thing for 50, might just make a profit.
Who needs financial advice? I'm suddenly a genius

You might not be able to get it if the original owner files a claim and provides them with their PSN they may have used with the console back then. Never hurts to try.

Ya, well they admitted there was a problem and sent you a coffin and repaired it for free or whatever so that makes everything okay.

It might be an OCD thing, but i don't want someone's half gutted cheeto stained refurbished console. So when my 360 broke, i bought another. Forget that the waiting period itself, upwards of a month was a hassle.

The one I got back was just as clean as the one I sent in which only had 50 hours of use. I'm not even sure if it was a refurbished model or not. It looked and smelled new. Plus, it actually still works... I don't buy used consoles/controllers/games either for that reason, because humans are dirty and gross.

I received a whopping $10.07 from this nonsense.

Christmas is now ruined. Thanks Ken Kutaragi.
