Gran Turismo Sport Official Thread

Why can you only sometimes use custom liveries in online races?

I think (not 100%) that if it is a one make car you can't pick a custom paint. If it is a garage car race, you can.

Forza does the same thing oddly enough. If is a one option car you can't load a custom paint, even if you own it.

I wonder why they would design it like that?

Well you weren't kidding. The dirt racing, especially trying for gold in the license tests is some bs. I only have like 4 left until I'm all gold though.

You enjoying the game?

Well I've still only played the license tests but just based on that I love the driving, so I'm sure once I get to actual races it will be good. Just haven't had much time to play it lately.

Beat the drivers tests on gold the other day. Now to move onto the fun part.

That's my biggest gripe with the game. I get put into matchmaking with people from Brazil and other places in South America. I'm way up north in the US almost to the Canadian borders. I'm 5000 miles away from Brazil. Heck, I'm closer to the UK and Western Europe than Brazil.

I mean that is always going to lag. I have a friend who lives out on the west coast and even we can't game together well because of the lag.

Just 100% everything that allows 100%. Now to finish the GT League.

This game is much longer than first anticipated and debuted.

Loving this game.

I'm currently working on the track learning portion or whatever it's called. Think I've done gold on three or four tracks so far.

The ring has like 15 sections, and then the final entire ring. I bronzed it the first time through for the full lap. Not a big accomplishment for most, but it was for me.

That's definitely going to be a crazy one to do.

It's interesting to see the majority of UnionVGF GTSport talk has been based around the games single player component.

Are you going to do any of those campaign races? The ones in the same menu as what you are doing now? They don't win you any cars (probably because they added this stuff in later), but you still get points and miles. Trophies too (not PSN trophies), but they really aren't worth a hill of beans.

I know that I won't get getting some of the PSN trophies for this game. I think once I hit level 25, it will take months for me to hit level 40. They literally just dump on the XP requirement after 25.

Yea eventually. Probably after I've done these track learning sections.

$29 for those still holding out

The game went from being bare bones at launch to a near full fledged game with the monthly free content updates. I think Polyphony took a wrong turn, direction-wise, with Sport. Fan backlash, myself included, definitely helped in regards to Polyphony doing a 180 on not including a campaign mode which was it's most glaring omission.

I gave up on this game twice. It just didn’t hold my attention.
I’ll check back in on the series when the PS5 launches.

GRAN TURISMO SPORT WON'T INCLUDE MICROTRANSACTIONS
Controversial feature removed for the latest GT.

Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed that the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport will not feature microtransactions, microtransactions are definitely off the table this time round.

fast forward to:

Microtransactions Have Arrived in Gran Turismo Sport
Yes, you’ve read that title correctly. Real-cash purchases have arrived in Gran Turismo Sport.

Players in our community first started noticing it a handful of hours before the latest v1.23 update hit. Japanese GT fans were posting images of individual cars from GT Sport they found on the PlayStation Store, with yen values attached. They ranged from ¥100 to ¥300 (roughly $0.90–$2.70 USD), and nearly the entire GT Sport car list featured. See for yourself:

Now, with v1.23 safely on our hard drives, it’s all become clear. Alongside the facts and figures on Circuit de Sainte-Croix and the new cars, Polyphony released the following info:

Cars that cost less than 2,000,000 in-game Cr. can now be purchased directly through the PS Store, in addition to your standard in-game purchases.
The service start date will vary depending on the region.
– Asia Region and Americas Region: July 30
– EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Region and Oceania region: August 2
For those keeping score at home, that’s 218 cars now available for real cash. Put another way, it’s roughly 92% of the lineup. Cars like the Countach and the XJ13 remain credit-only — or the luck of the Daily Marathon draw. If you’re aiming to collect them, we’ve got a few different credit-farming methods to check out.

Even though I prefer the focus of GTSport (online racing), I have to admit it was pretty mismanaged by Polyphony. Game should have been built with microtransactions in mind. Cars, paint, decals etc should all have been able to be purchased by real money or in game currency.

Played the St. Croix track this morning, did a couple laps. It's not a bad track, it's more of a road course and has an awkward, almost unnatural layout. It is a fictional course, so I kind of expected that. But it is a solid addition to the game. It added more events to the campaign, so that is nice. I noticed the update 1.23 added more to the GT League was well under, though I don't know if that includes St. Croix. I went to try one of the new GT League events, but the new events are using the new cars they added, which of course I haven't bought yet, and I didn't have time to go into brand central and buy one as I was just checking it out before work.

This game should have released day one with all this content they keep adding. Luckily for me, I have such little time to game that the trickling of content hasn't affected my experience at all because I finally get caught up, and they add more.
