Well Phil announced like 40 some games last E3 and most of them came out as he promised,
Well as I mentioned before, I'm not really talking about the indies (although I did mention a few, my bad) -- not saying "indies don't count," but just saying that generating excitement at E3 is almost entirely about the big games. Most of those 40 games came and went without anyone noticing.
What I'm saying is, if you've got something big baking in the oven, and it'll be done in 2 years, don't hide that information now. Now is the time to erase people's last doubt about Xbox, build up their sense of anticipation for the future, and capitalize on the current momentum. (I know that you personally don't have any issues with Xbox offerings, but I'm talking about the wider audience.)
Unless of course you are talking about Phil saying they are working on those AAA masterpieces and they take time (2-3 years) and they are "coming"? I don't think Phil will announce ANYTHING that he isn't 100% sure will make release any longer.
Right, I wouldn't expect him to announce anything specific that is going to take longer than 2 years. That's too far off. But 1 or 2 years away is not too far off.
With Scalebound and Phantom Dust and Fable Legends and Gigantic, he let us down with those games. I don't think he wants to do that again.
Well, those were cancellations. I'm assuming the projects underway are not going to be cancelled. If they are, problems are more serious than we realize.
I would keep your hopes DOWN for E3. It takes time for the best games. Look at God of War and how long that took.
I think that's probably a good strategy if you want to come away happy with what you get. It's always better to keep your expectations low, that way you will be satisfied if things are just sort of average. That's fine. I use that strategy in my normal life all the time.
I'm not pinning my hopes on this, though. I don't have any skin in the game. I will not feel bad if MS doesn't live up to my expectations. If they don't, oh well, no big deal.
But I think this is their year.
