Apologies if old. (I see karmakid posted something similar above. Maybe this provides additional info, I dunno.)

The Master Chief Collection will be getting Xbox One X support, among other things

With the launch of the Xbox One X, you'd have figured 4K support would've been immediately available for Microsoft's premiere franchise. Coming this summer, just that will be added to the MCC, further making that Halo 3 backwards compatible update seem odd.

343 isn't stopping at just upping the resolution, though. Among the many changes coming to this compilation include improvements to the dire matchmaking service, LAN support and even HDR color. The biggest has to be the "Intelligent Install" system, which should theoretically let you install only the bits of content you want to use. Now you can just skip out on the campaign modes and get to the real Halo action.

Here is what is coming in the first retail update, but the blog post over on Halo Waypoint has a much more thorough explanation of what 343 is planning:

  • Intelligent Install
  • Xbox One X Visual Enhancements
  • HDR/SDR Calibration Settings
  • Networking and Matchmaking Improvements (Continuous Matchmaking, Network/Multiplayer API updates)
  • P1 & P2 Bug Fixes
  • LAN Support
  • UI & UX Updates (Main Menu, Title Screen Video, Button States/Highlight States)

Its been in good shape for years this guy says? BS. Being not quite as big a disaster as it was on day 1 isn't really what I would call good shape.

And no they shouldn't be commended for doing what you are supposed to do especially when you do it late as f***. That video really annoys me.

100% agreed.

4 years does seem like a long time to fix a game. Sounds like they just sort of gave up at one point, and now they're getting back at it.

Personally, I'm not so concerned about the fixes, because they seem to be related almost entirely to the MP part of the game. I want to play the SP games in 4K/HDR. I haven't played Halo: CE in 17 years.

They said something about "late June" in the video, so I'm hoping a firm release date will come at E3.

They got in a little over their head it seems trying to do all those games from different platforms and then integrate the online. They better learn from this mistake. It's a big one.

This should’ve been fixed earlier but I think Microsoft’s budget constraints on Xbox hurt those chances. Not a coincidence that the work on MCC timed with announced budget increases.

they should of stick to their guns the first time and do Halo 2 only. That was the original plan till someone thought the master MC was a better idea.

I still remember them talking about how impossible they thought even the Idea of having all the MP connected was during a Vidoc because of the vast difference in how each game handles the MP. Originally they were just going to have each game compartmentalized.

Obviously they were right in their original assessment, though they did have it working to a degree. The difficulty was in how they kept all of the games true to the original code. I don't know how they could fix it without a full rewrite of the code base to be consistent with each other, but then they run the risk of losing that nostalgic replication.

The current Inside Xbox hosts said they had 343 in the wings, and they'll talk about the MCC. I don't have the patience to continue to watch, but there may some news coming out of that.

Watching that video hit me in the feels. MCC had me so hyped, biggest disappointment this gen. By the time it was fixed (or perhaps it wasn't) everyone I knew gave up on it. Never got to play it.

MCC is a large game, jam packed with content (and it could even grow more in the future)

Bring on the Reach announcement at E3. They even left space for it on the right

Hells yeah, I'd love Reach being added to the MCC. I'd even be happy if they just added FF from ODST to the collection.
I'd love to see a remastered REACH in the MCC!

In other Halo happenings- I played Halo 5 MP all night last night, and it's still a joy to play!

I wonder if MS has any plans to unify the MP going forward for future games...

Yup, the MP is still top notch!

Are any of you fellows in this TMCC testing?

I wanna see some pics.
